Uptherams
Carson is an nonathletic GK. He won't get close to a shot heading for the bottom or top corner, but most keepers in this league and in the world are not expected to. So there is really no loss there. He is slow, but he's like a ball magnet. Those efforts you expect a keeper to save or at least have a good try, he saves. He messed up big time once yesterday and Weimann rescued him. There is no reason for that to happen. You jump first and then decide if you are going to catch or punch and how you will do so. Not the other way round. Kernow
Can anyone answer the concerns i have mentioned though? All the replies are 'he made saves' none have said anything about the penalty shout and the other time he came 'rushing' out and had to run back. Wiemanns clearence saved us a last minute carson blunder and i think he should be saving their goal. It would have been a very soft penalty and not many keepers are faster than their lad who got to the ball first.Out of Baird & Shackell you decide to blame Carson for coming then going back? **** knows what Shackell was doing when Baird had the ball and **** knows why he kicked it at Shackell but not a lot Carson could have done. And you say "the ball just hit him" but isn't that the point. The Church save and the push on to the post were reaction stops and both very good saves. The backward punch was the only mistake imo.

YorkshireRam
Is this up for grabs after yesterday?Carson made himself big and saved us a few goals but my word is he slow. There were two incidences where he ran out to get the ball but came 2nd and it was like seeing your dad run- one of them ended up in a good penalty shout where Carson did shove the guy! I felt he could of done better for their goal too, he was a bit slow to get down and also he nearly punched it in his own net near the end.Don't get me wrong he knows how to make our goal small but he seems to lack speed not only in his legs but his reactions and he does lack agility. For me Lee Grant should be in goal. Fair shout?I think Shackell is playing well but he missed 1 header yesterday. For me Ryan Shotton should play at CB. Fair shout?
Cardifframs
A bit slow for their goal????What about their player being unmarked on the penalty spot???
rammieib
Should have saved the goal? Jesus H Christ. The guy blasted it from seven yards away. No goal keeper in the world would have stopped it.So you also criticise him where their player gets booked for diving and that's his fault? Wow. If he hadn't have come out there player would have got the ball. What are you seriously expecting from our goal keeper? Put Lee 'I cost us ten goals last season and one goal in two appearances this season' Grant back in? (interesting you choose to ignore the Portsmouth goal)Yes we are lucky that his one big error (No foul) didn't cost us a goal, but it didn't, so as it stands, Carson has been superb, his kicking is a delight and he is our number one. Can't specifically put your concerns away but, a GK is a specialist position ,a one off within the team. Carson as that certain something that Grant doesn't have for me ,the way he carries himself , he looks more composed than Grant etc.etc. A GK to me can either spread composure and confidence throughout the team or completely unsettle it ,not much to choose between the two on playing ability but on the mental ability / confidence side Carson shades it for me. TroyDyer
I wasn't sure what I was clicking into when I came in here. The thread title opened up my imagination. I'm slightly disappointed.

He will probably be disappointed with it, but I don't think we can blame him.
uttoxram75
Nowt between the pair of 'em imo. Carson's steadier, more composed, Granty is quicker, more athletic, neither control their area particularly well.
Ninos
I really liked the grab he made on the floor from the cross that was whizzed on the ground in the 6 yard box - stuck to his hands like glue and was headed for the corner ... He played really well and has been a rock of a goalie.
Ted McMinn Football Genius
You don't get to play for England by mistake, he is far far better than anyone else at the club. The defence has a more stable look to them when he is playing, listen on Saturday and you will hear him commanding the box at set pieces etc. To be honest he has a presence that none of our keepers have shown in a very long time. Great signing and has to be one of the first 4-5 players in the team sheet.
