TigerTedd
First car was a fiat panda dance 900cc. Bought for £300 in 2001. Surprisingly got through two MOTs with nothing more than new brakes. I even got it to 96 mph once, that was literally about 20 seconds before I killed it by crashing into a motorway barrier. Next car was a peugeot 205. It was so crap it got short listed for pimp my ride UK. True story. I was invited down to the mtv studios in London for an interview, but was 4 hrs late because my car wouldn't start to get me there!!my wife is learning now, had her added to my insurance and it was only an extra £100 ish for the year. She's in her late 20s though. I think learners get cheaper insurance than new drivers though, as they'll always be supervised, whereas new drivers are let loose. Ashz09
Pass a year and a half ago. Always thought to myself if a lot of the drivers can't count to 10 surely I can do it and passed with flying colours. Can't afford one now thoe waiting for a payrise so I can afford a house and a car. They'll want to give me a company car soon.. But don't know if it's a good benefit as you still pay like 80 quid or w.e a month and it's not even yours!

Ashz09
Sounds like a good idea as the insurance is the companys. I remember this guy in the space of 2 months had 3 crashes didn't pay a penny each time took it to Pride Park to be fixed and all sorted!

Brammie Steve
First car was a Morris Minor Reg No 5643R.Cost me £100. Nice car with character and rotten sub frame.I can't remember how much TPF & T insurance was, but I know that youngsters have a tough time now. Houses cost many years' salary. Rents are sky high. Getting a decent job even with a degree. Everything is much more difficult now than it was for us who grew up in the 60s and 70s.Don't let your grandads tell you otherwise. Bris Vegas
My first car was my brother's green VW Polo. I think I only ever had 3rd party insurance. But at Christmas I bought my first car, a Toyota Rav4 Sport. It's the best car for what I want to do - drive to the beach, use the rack to take the boards and doesn't spend loads on gas like a 6-cylinder pick-up or Jeep.My dream car is a Jeep Wrangler - Either Sport or Rubicon. Only problem is, they're more difficult to drive than I thought due to the box-shape, high bonnet and flat windscreen. But not only that, they waste loads on gas - especially the bigger models. Phoenix
Mine was a 1950 Ford Anglia (well, it was my girl friends actually) bought in 1961.It had chrome bumpers, a running board, a bonnet that opened at the side, 0-60 in 86.3 seconds, and did about 50 miles to a pint of oil. Oh yes, it, too, had vacuum wipers, so that if when you were labouring up hill, the wipers slowed to a stop. Here's the spec. http://www.automobile-catalog.com/make/ford_gb/anglia_2gen_e494a/anglia_2gen_saloon/1950.htmlHappy, happy days. MuespachRam
Morris Mini, hand painted blue with a black roof, walnut dashboard, used to go through as much water as it did petrol.... i paid 60 pounds for it, had it 2 years.... awesome car. NBW 572F.One speed windscreen wipers, pump action for the washer jets, wing mirrors on the end of the wings with you could remove the keys when it was running, which my mates all thought was highly amusing to remove them and throw them out of the slide windows. ramsbottom
I had a white F reg Ford Fiesta 1.4S. The limited edition alloys were that worn I had to carry a 12v air pump with me at all times as the tires only stayed fully inflated for 3 days max...I don't care who you are and what you drive, there's no other car that'll put as big a smile on your face than your first.
