Stive Pesley
Why are people assuming Villa will be in the Prem next season? That's far from certain as it stands. although arguably they have an "easy" run in with only Man Utd and Man City looking toughLet's be honest - Bent will sign a deal with whoever is willing to pay him the most money. And the club that can afford that will be the one in the Prem (or the one with the Parachute payments)
Tombo
Another case of football players and managers having short memories. Villa cast him aside and Derby gave him a lifeline...in talks with Villa about going back. McClaren cast aside by football in general, Derby give him a lifeline... almost certainly off to Newcastle. I don't know if its the £££, Stockholm syndrome, or a combination of the two.

Alph
Loyalty goes two ways. Where's our loyalty to players we sell and release? Bent is now in a good bargaining position. It's great news for him. Next season he will play for a PL club and probably keep the wages hes on now. We haven't saved his career. We gave him a job. We gave Best a job. Still have to show you can do it. Rammed79
I wouldn't be too fussed if he went back with Villa I would rather us get someone in who is younger and cheaper a target man who can hold the ball up.

Curtains
True, but where he maybe lacks holding the ball, it's because it's mainly in the back of the net.

cannable
What? If we go up, we will be playing mainly without the ball. We need someone who knows where the goal is. Bent has made a career of being that man and would be invaluable to us.
cannable
yes because "holding the ball up" is much better than "scoring goals" when it comes to winning points. Remind me, how many points do we get if we hold the ball up 10 times and the opposition holds it up 5 times? It's a revolutionary scoring system! <doh>
Kernow
Darren Bent has just posted this on Instagram. It's a collage of four photos from his time here. The caption reads: @benty39: Want to say a big thanks to @dcfcofficial and all their fans for their support this season. Loved every minute. Gutted the way it ended. But will make us stronger next season #rams #keepthefaith Anyone take particular notice to the word us? Thorne saga round 2 starting here with cryptic clues but it's not the standard wishing all the lads good luck for next season. Could be a clue
ChaddesdenRam
Darren would want a lot of money though surely.Or maybe he just wants to play football and is tired of sitting on the bench at premier league clubs. Although with Martin fit we can't actually guarantee him football either to be honest. Would be quality if we had both on permanent deals.

If he gets offered a new contract at Villa, he'll more than likely take it if he's in Sherwoods plans
