The 23-year-old Ghana winger has only started four games for the Toffees and Chelsea are eager to see him get more game time. Atsu, who is part of the Ghana squad at the Africa Cup of Nations, joined the Blues from Porto in 2013 but has yet to play a first-team game for them and has also spent time on loan with Vitesse Arnhem in the Netherlands. After Ghana's first game, which they lost, I'd say his tournament will be finished 20:00 on the 27th January. If they surprise us all then 8th February. The deal can be completed by then, though. "I know him from Vitesse [Arnhem] in Holland but no, no interest in him," said McClaren at his pre-match press conference on Thursday afternoon. Derby are still looking for a replacement for winger Jordon Ibe, who was recalled from his loan spell by Liverpool last week. Atsu has made just three Premier League appearances this season for Everton and he is currently away with Ghana at the African Nations Cup. That's unfortunately that, then! Or is it??? You could clearly tell he was interested in Bent as soon as he was asked, just didn't want to confirm until it was done. He never denied it. Clearly we won't be signing Atsu after his comments.
