it is nearly time go to war

People need to be hit hard. No reason for hooliganism imo, especially if it is violent. If you do not like a team, cuss their fans out, call them dirt sh@ts, whatever. But violence should not be a part of that.

Many moons ago football violence was common at just about every ground in the country.

During the 70's every away fan was a target and you would see massive scraps anywhere from the train station as the away fans arrived, All the way to the ground and back.

During the 80's firms became a bit more organised and only really targeted each other and as a rule they would leave the normal shirt wearing supporters alone.

Travelling around the country in the 70's and early 80's following Derby was a dangerous hobby if you didn't have a few people with you that were prepared to get stuck in and give a bit back.

You won't find many fans from back then that didn't either receive a smack or dish one or two out as they made their way to and from away grounds.

Not been any proper fighting for years. Banning orders and heavy penalties for anybody involved in any trouble football related put paid to that.

But if you go to the right places, You can find trouble if you want it.

Most grounds and city centres are full of cctv and the courts only need a little reason to hit people hard.

Organised "do" at Trowell after last season's corresponding fixture led to many arrests and dawn raids rumour has it. Several hours after the match at Forest, representatives from both sides met up to debate the game in the time honoured way.

like you say, its still there if you want it but its all a bit pathetic now.

The only thing part and parcel of being a Derby fan is loving Derby. Hating Forest is optional.

Hate is a strong word dude, how can you hate a whole group of people without knowing them, just because they support a certain football club?

AS Ossie says, 70's mayhem, 80's more organised and specific. I was a teen of the 70's and it was hairy back then. Had my scarf taken off me on a few occasions. Always had a little tingle running up your spine on game day.

I suppose the Yanks never have much away followings due to geography but they are more of a gang culture so the youth vent their frustrations and burn off steam within the gangs. Our gangs I guess were our football clubs.

All changed now though at the grounds. It's still around but most if not all can enjoy the matchday experience without any hassle.

Been going to football for about 20 years now and never seen a single fight. I was part of a police escort back in 05 or around that time to Pride Park from the train station. We ended up being taken under a bridge and had all sorts thrown down on us, despite the fact we had both elderly and child supporters in that group. Lovely bunch eh?

There was a big fight when we went to stoke in the early 90, maybe 92 or 93? I got separated from the group I was in and waited by the station. I remember some proper old man starting on me and asking but luckily a policeman on horseback chased him off and then other Derby fans arrived much to my relief. I was a wee lad like.

I have seen plenty of action in and around Millwall. Also when Charlton plays Crystal Palace SE London is shut down.

I'm going to call the first red dog I see on Sunday a dirty shat.

damn, just seen a jogger wearing a forest training top whilst I was driving home, I forgot the American insult so just went with a standard "5-0!"

It made him stop and turn around though. The dirty shat.

Okay so not exactly what I was hoping for, for you and Daveo but I think it will work.

See you at Notts County early doors you can suit up there. Just make sure you dont draw attention to yourself.
