I said anonymous at times, i.e. he wouldn't do much for 10 or so minutes.

Don't mind me, I'm just a pedant, I get exasperated at pretty much all ratings I read. I tend to use a scale of 10 to mean a 5 is average (seems reasonable to me) but I've long since accepted that 6/10 is generally awarded for attendance. Today I honestly thought the team was average to poor so individual performances would reflect that. The result however was 8/10.

I've certainly seen us play 10 times better than that this season.

Fook the Rams ratings. They're all 10.

Red Rovers

Camp 6 - Average. Blew us a kiss. Did little to help us

Halford 7- a few decent balls to our defence and won us silly free kicks

Ayala 8 - eight men in the box, 2mins left. Danny decides to play it across the back 4

Collins 7 - much like Ayala. Helped run the clock down after we took the lead

Hutchinson 8 - Who?

Reid 6 - mixed bag. Spent half his time moaning at the ref, but he didn't break into a run.

McGugan 7- Helped Buxton and Keogh collar Blackstock and Cox by providing no service

Cohen 4 - shocking. Could of got Roberts and Buxton sent off with his moaning.

Gillett 6 - tidy sideways passing helped us trudge towards full time. Nearly ****** up at the end.

Cox 8 - great avoidance of dangerous areas.

Blackstock 8 - awful first half. Could of had us 1-0 down with his theatrics. Great after the break.

Good performance overall. Left us with a bit of work to do but there was no sign of Barca style passing or "world class" goals.

It wasn't a sparkling performance by any stretch but the kind of dogged performance you sometimes need to win games at this level. To be perfectly honest, I thought we were second best for the majority of the game and I don't think a draw would have been an unfair result. It was looking that way for much of the game.

It was a game of attrition and not one for the purists whatsoever. Both teams were far from fluent and I think the fact we set up to soak up pressure and frustrate them really set the tone. We didn't look a threat at all in the first half. Sammon was isolated up top and our midfield really struggled to get a grip on the game. We seemed short of ideas and to be honest, that didn't change much in the second half either. The move for the goal was the only time we actually passed and moved the ball around with any kind of intent. Coutts' cross was 'come to my wedding and kiss the bride' inviting and they were all queuing up!

But for me, it's the defence who emerge with the most credit from the game. Keogh and Buxton looked very assured at the back. I think the fact the game lacked any kind of fluidity played into their hands somewhat. But still, they still had to be there to head it away or boot it out of danger when called upon. Fielding grew in confidence as the game wore on. I think he was understandably nervous from the start with last year's events no doubt in his mind. But I think he kept us in the game at the end, commanding the box and then of course the superb save when Gillett had the goal at his mercy. But all in all, they all played their part in the superb rearguard action.

Keogh was man of the match for me. A real captain's innings if you will. I hope he can continue to perform at a similar level throughout the rest of the season and keep the defence as organised and disciplined as they were today.

Bring on Boro. 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

What do surprises matter? That is the team you've started with.

On the day, you were poor and that first team alone already has a decent amount of money spent on it. Yes, you've got a deep squad, we haven't, but it's the eleven on the pitch during that one game that matters.

This isn't a game of 'Look how many we've got', it's whose eleven gets the win over 90 minutes. We did that.

And 10 men isn't a major set-back, many 10 men teams can beat 11, as we proved last year over 90 minutes, so if you're writing off games after a red card you've clearly got no faith in the players you've got out there.

Surprise was Forest wer odds on favourites according to bookies yet we turned themn over once again.

No surprise of course for Rams fans.

Fielding - 7. Did what he had to do at the right time, i.e made a good save and played up to Cox and Lansbury's whining thus getting them booked.

Brayford - 6. Don't really remember him being that involved in the game. They didn't really struggle our wide players when on the offensive and he didn't push that far up when we attacked either. Steady I guess.

Keogh - 7. We kept our first clean sheet in a game that will probably do our defence the world of good. Cox really worked hard for them, as did Blackstock but both our lads really got busy which obviously upset them. Hard work paid off.

Buxton - 7. I don't really want to condone it but when Buxton jumped into Blackstock, he succeeded in really winding him up. Blackstock threw a bit of a paddy after that when pushing Roberts down and never seemed to calm down. Ready to put himself on the line but should be careful when risking bookings.

Roberts - 7. Got stuck in. Really gave his all today, very physical game and probably not his style. Harsh booking really, didn't want to foul the player. On the few occasions they got down the wing they didn't draw much from it.

Coutts - 6. Don't think he played all that well except for the assist which was a good ball. Couple of times I think he just gave the ball up when he was favourite or ran into blind allies. I'd rather see us keep the ball rather than a player making impossible runs and conceding possession.

Hendrick - 5. It's good to see him getting stuck in now but he's giving the ball away quite often this season. Second season as a senior player, hopefulyl he'll settle down.

Bryson - 7. Normally I'd give him a 6 but he scored the goal. We didn't get to use our midfield as you'd like but when we could play across the floor he didn't make any glaring errors.

Hughes - 6.5. Did alright on the left, not really his best position but our best option out there. Fared better when we went 4-5-1 but we didn't really look to be going all out attack at any point so didn't get a chance to show his true best form which is when we're attacking. Was always available for the ball and rarely loses possession.

Ward - 6. Worked hard when closing down their players from the front, looked to threaten them down the wing. Unfortunate injury, nice to hear the Derby fans singing his name after Forest cheered his injury.

Sammon - 5. Didn't look much of a threat really, didn't look to get stuck in enough which is mostly what his role was asking of him today. Nice shot that wasn't far off target towards the end of the first half after running onto a through ball.

Subs.

Jacobs - 5. Wasn't impressed, he's another one that when looking like he was going to get to the ball first allowed Forest to take it. Probably nervous mind.

O'connor and Robinson. Didn't have that much time, O'Connor didn't do anything wrong and Robinson was threatening, worried their defence a couple of times and should of won what I thought was a blatant freekick just outside their area.

I'm sure you're right. We have lost points when we deserved them. Today we got 3 in strange circumstances and didn't play as well as other games where we have picked up none at all. That's why I think we should have a look at the table around Christmas [ when we'll be 11th :) ]

Right, I've been carefully getting views of Forest fans since I come back from the game elated with our one nil victory against a rival, not a game that would be remembered if it wasn't a local Derby but some comments from the Forest fans (again, not on here) have slightly annoyed me and have got under my skin.

1) 'Forest tried to play football Derby was just hoofing it' that was absolutely ********, there was one team in that game tactically trying to get the beating of the defence by balls over the top and that was Forest, did their midfield get the ball in the second half? Seemed to be passed around the back four and then diagonally hit towards the strikers/attacking wingers... Our best players today were the centre halves on the basis they had to deal with a lot in the air and won it every time. I thought Forest lack of change nor creativity through the middle was poor. I thought the only time their was a bit of football to be played is when Forest went down to 10 men and we grew a few hairs on our chest and got the ball on the floor and passed it around and one of them movements lead to our goal, Will Hughes moving centrally also helped a lot. Other than that that it was very much in the air, forest did very little especially in midfield to prove they play football, their defence can pass sideways and camp can knock a ball from inside his own half but that is all I learned.

2) 'Derby were dirty' we've got two full blooded centre halves who would throw themselves at a brick and a striker who will throw his body into the mix but apart from that we are very lightweight in fact this is one of my biggest gripes usually, today we had a couple of lads playing with their heart on their sleeve which usually can be found hiding from situations, great to see.

Forest weren't undone by Clough genius, if anything I thought we didn't dare play to our game plan in certain times of the game, it took them losing a man before we had 20 minutes of us playing football - I thought forest were beaten today by their own game plan and that alone, they played right into the hands of Keogh and Buxton who were magnificent today but their manager set them up to play in a way that would suit us and it did and we won, he has no excuses, forest had the players better suited to today, the more calm and experienced who followed a game plan that simply didn't work, whereas I think we didn't follow our game plan, played on basic natural instincts and won, a similar performance at Middlesbrough is not what I want, a bit if belief that we can go anywhere and play our usual style would be nice, moving Hughes in the middle certainly helped that, no-one cooler on the ball on that pitch today... But overall we panicked at times and just seemed to play a lot more on edge and panicked that I'm used too.

We won and that is the most important thing!

From what I just posted in the other thread, overall I thought we didn't keep to a game plan and we was more reactive than proactive today and they were just too poor in areas and in leadership to break us down.

[url=http://www.ltlf.co.uk/2012/09/referee-unveils-new-set-of-rules/]

[url=http://www.ltlf.co.uk/2012/09/referee-unveils-new-set-of-rules/]Forest-Derby match referee Robert Madley stunned waiting reporters after today’s game when he announced that he intends to create his own version of football with a new set of rules.

[url=http://www.ltlf.co.uk/2012/09/referee-unveils-new-set-of-rules/]Mr Madley was expected to face tough questions over the controversial red card he showed to Dexter Blackstock during the game.

[url=http://www.ltlf.co.uk/2012/09/referee-unveils-new-set-of-rules/]Instead he used the meeting with the press to reveal his plans to form a breakaway sport.

[url=http://www.ltlf.co.uk/2012/09/referee-unveils-new-set-of-rules/]Mr Madley said: ‘After 150 years or so, Association Football is becoming a bit old hat. I think it’s about time the game was revitalised and I believe supporters will be ready to embrace my new rules.’

[url=http://www.ltlf.co.uk/2012/09/referee-unveils-new-set-of-rules/]The new sport, which Mr Madley plans to call ‘Madball’, still has the same basic premise of football – players from two teams will kick a ball around on a grass field – but it will include several key rule-changes.

[url=http://www.ltlf.co.uk/2012/09/referee-unveils-new-set-of-rules/]Jumping for headers will be outlawed unless players have had their elbows surgically removed beforehand. Furthermore, standing anywhere near a goalkeeper will result in an automatic yellow card.

[url=http://www.ltlf.co.uk/2012/09/referee-unveils-new-set-of-rules/]However, Madball is not only about introducing new offences – the aim of the game will no longer be to score goals but instead for defenders to repeatedly knock over forwards.

[url=http://www.ltlf.co.uk/2012/09/referee-unveils-new-set-of-rules/]One intrigued journalist asked Mr Madley how he thought teams used to the traditional rules of football will adapt to his new regulations: ‘Well I must say, Derby County played the perfect game of Madball today – and their fans clearly loved it too!

[url=http://www.ltlf.co.uk/2012/09/referee-unveils-new-set-of-rules/]http://www.ltlf.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/robert_madley‘I would have given them a huge half-time advantage for the performances of Jake Buxton and Gareth Roberts alone. When I saw the way they were playing, I couldn’t help but wonder if Nigel Clough had somehow got hold of a copy of the Madball Rule Book. He even played Conor Sammon up front to try and avoid scoring any goals.’

[url=http://www.ltlf.co.uk/2012/09/referee-unveils-new-set-of-rules/]However, Mr Madley admitted that the rules of Madball would take referees a while to adjust to: ‘It took me more than half the game to realise that Blackstock had a pair of elbows attached to his arms, but as soon as I noticed I had no hesitation in sending him off the field.

[url=http://www.ltlf.co.uk/2012/09/referee-unveils-new-set-of-rules/]‘He gave the game away really by trying to win a header and keeping his eyes on the ball, when under my new rules he should have just forgotten about the ball and shoved the player next to him to the ground.’

[url=http://www.ltlf.co.uk/2012/09/referee-unveils-new-set-of-rules/]Mr Madley says he will be publishing the rules of Madball in the next few weeks and it will shortly be followed by his rulebooks for Triangular Chess, Zero Gravity Snooker and Underground Rugby (in which players score points by burrowing tunnels underneath the goal posts).

[url=http://www.ltlf.co.uk/2012/09/referee-unveils-new-set-of-rules/]http://www.ltlf.co.u...w-set-of-rules/Yet they take it in such a sportsman like manner.....
