Talking to someone connected with the club today briefly spoke about transfers apparently Warne has spoken to 8 players from 4 clubs + free agents. Originally he was looking at signing three players but has approached clowes to discuss the possibility of upto 5 coming in. No names besides a strong indication one coming in is sharp, waggy is 50:50 might sign him to booster the over age players in u23s and the first team. Positions spoken about are as follows LWB but Warne is struggling with that and might go for a LCB /LB , A 10 that looks to be a prem loan , two strikers - one older poacher type currently looking at Sharp , waggy , assombolonga and wickham the other is a young championship player and finally it appears another CM likely more of an older head. The player Warne is frustrated about was Rhodes apparently had agreed a 1 year deal with an optional extension but  no showed a medical  Saturday morning his agent came back saying he wanted more money  plus an 18 month deal. My source is in the media department

Piece of advice folks let’s not turn this brilliant forum into that sh*** show of a league 1 fan page on Facebook. Anyone had the misfortune of seeing it it’s an absolute disgrace no banter at all just anti Wigan and Bolton diatribe, a hatred of the rams and the combined IQ of about 2 with a few discriminatory and obscene comments thrown in!

Look at Colby bishop didn’t score many then got two 10+ seasons at Stanley got a move to Pompey and scored 20 last season. 
 
with the right style , full team contributions I don’t see why Washington Collins or even waggy if we sign him couldn’t get 15+ in league 1

I’d not be too bothered by waghorn maybe even wickham on a free too 
then maybe look for a few loans. I’ve come to the realisation I’ve got to lower my expectations especially how restricted we are because if we didn’t have the restrictions I’d guarantee we’d probably fork out the odd £400-500k. 
 
I don’t expect us to be automatics but anything less than top 6 I think Warne will be under pressure maybe another season where we have no restrictions and that would be roughly three seasons to look at progression which I think is enough in modern football to know where you’re heading

Tbh where the EFL restrictions has crippled us in the transfer window is in the attacking options e.g. Charlton have just spent £1.5m on three attacking players this season. I’m happy with the signings but it just shows where we realistically are due to poor financial practices. I trust Warne but I’d say this side is currently top 6 at best no where near the top 2. 
 
I wonder if we sold Cashin for say £3-5m we could actually use that on a striker ?

as for LWB I can’t look beyond sessagnon or Scott malone 

That’s seems to suggest we’re still crippled by the EFL restrictions but I guess next season that’s £2m we could spend. Just goes to show where we are because of MM. 
if that’s the case £300k then get Rhodes and say LWB and 10 with a loan fee. It’s not great but it’s what it is.

Part of me feels that although Clowes saved us I can’t see him being here longer than 2 years he won’t spend money to an extent probably wise considering the error of judgment of Mel. If we sign Rhodes Warne will have a lot of explaining to do as it would show either we have no ambition or quite frankly all the money we receive is going towards repairing other areas of our finances destroyed by Mel e.g. money for knight is actually going on the academy not the first team 

After having a think about it if we get another striker say godden or Ladapo as well as a fee for a CAM I’d be ok with Rhodes. I’d sell Sibley and Barkhuizen and loan Rooney , if it generates at least 750k combined I’d take that . Neither are good enough
