Right?! I’ve no idea the figures that could be generated of course, I plucked the £5m figure out as that’s the bare minimum I would want to see Knight sold for.
Hopefully we’d be able to sell him for much more, however given the club is currently over a barrel and also with a storied history of underselling our talent compared to other clubs I can’t see it being massive money ?

    Latest statement from the club:
"After the recent defeat away to Bristol City, it is looking ever more likely that DCFC will be relegated to League 1 by the end of the season, and ever more likely that @Ramley Apple will be crowned the dcfcfans poster of the season, due to his extended knowledge, wisdom, and unceasing realism.  We would like to go on record to thank @Ramley Apple for his continued and questionable support throughout this difficult time, and only wish that more of our fans had the same realistic outlook, if only to put to bed these ridiculous dreams of survival that has poisoned the club thus far this season.  Perhaps now, those fans will sit quietly and despondently for the remainder of this season's games, and let us just get on with confirming our relegation at the very earliest opportunity".

Still mathematically possible for us to stay up, feels less and less probable with each game that passes. If we carry on this way it will then become mathematically impossible for us to stay up and you can smugly say “I told you so” for whatever strange reason it is you seem so keen to spite the same fan base you allegedly form a part of.

What has Lawrence got to do to show some people he is our best attacking threat? 4 goals and 3 assists in our last few games, but not considered a goal threat…

Harsh on Shinnie as I’m a big fan of his but I feel we need a focal point in attack, forward drive from the midfield  and Ebosele if fit enough needs to start. I’d like to see us go at them from the start, actually try to build a 2 or 3 goal lead then bring on Shinnie, Ravel, Fozzy to see the game out. Yes I’m a fantasist ?

Not fully sure what the protocol is, but noticed no one else started a new matchday thread after the QPR loss. So I thought I'd start my first one and see if I can be a lucky charm.
I hope I can go on a long run creating these threads, starting with a trip down to Bristol to play the City's second team.
3pm on Saturday (a kick off time that should please all the ones who moan about matches getting moved for the telly).
Will Lawrence continue his fine form? Will that guy who knows more about Derby's accounting policy than anyone else in the entire world be fizzing by full time? Will we still be in with a shout of survival at 5pm on Saturday?
    COYR.

No idea why it's important for fans to be 'pragmatic' in accepting relegation. We don't run the club. When fans talk of 'believing' in incredibly unlikely things, they are often expressing hope rather than _literally_ claiming they think the unlikely thing will happen. And sometimes that hope is important to them, and it doesn't affect me, and it doesn't affect the club - unless we think the administrators (we are in administration, by the way) set their strategy according to this message board? That they are swayed by emotion?
Do I think we will be relegated? Of course; I'm pretty much certain of it. But it's not my business to go round stamping out tiny flames of hope.

I think many people saw these 3 games and thought we would be blown away and would be sat still on -ve points.
4 points from 9 against 2/3 teams laden with cash and Premier league quality is a very good achievement. Yet we still are further away from surviving than we were 3 games ago.
We need to show the same intensity and belief against the so called 'lesser' teams in the league now. That's the hardest part no more results like the Barnsley one.
If we can get a new owner confirmed before Xmas and realistically in by mid/end Jan we may stand a chance with a few extra bodies who want to prove themselves.
We just need to stay within throwing distance until then.

But by your own statement you yourself are ignoring a piece of evidence are you not? There are still enough points to play for that could mean we stay up. That’s a fact. Whether it’s likely or not is the opinion part.
We both agree it’s unlikely, I will say my optimism isn’t unfounded, it is based on the very clear fact that there are still points to play for.
The realistic stance I have is that we will probably come up short, based on the history of other teams with points deductions, the potential limitations of the squad, the stats behind our performances already this season and so on. I’m just choosing to look for the positives, however small as I feel there is a lot else to feel miserable about in the world. We’ve got different opinions, nothing wrong with that, you’ve got your rationale and I’ve got mine, hope is a dangerous thing. Maybe a counter thread for anyone less than optimistic is needed? ?
We’re all Derby and want the club to still be around in the future, that’s what matters the most, thanks for the debate ?

Absolutely. Rooney has done an incredible job with the resources at his disposal and in an environment which is hardly conducive to team harmony.
His press conferences have improved and he’s honest about our performances.
Last night was littered with personal errors from the players. We should expect that from time to time. After all, we are not a top championship team.
Let Rooney and his players regroup and get behind them on Saturday.
    That’s my view anyway.

Sorry but I can't agree. I think anyone is, and should be, open to ridicule. Particularly if they hold, and put forth, an opinion that is contrary to all available evidence.
But I'm not trying to ridicule anyone, OK I used the word "blind" which was perhaps rather harsh, and I apologise for any offence caused, but we are posting on a thread entitled "I think Derby can stay up" here. Which in my mind is ridiculous. And so I called it out as such.
As I said, if you honestly believe we can stay up then that's fine, and perhaps I need to acquire some similar unfounded optimism from somewhere, but as yet it eludes me.

Thank you for educating me, what an excellent word. I share the sentiment with regards to whoever runs the club.
As a humble fan I shall carry on my perfectly grounded, far from mentally unbalanced view that the club and team I support (pop that one in t’dictionary) can still mathematically retain its position within the championship, and that due to the points deductions imposed on the club along with the limited options of our playing squad, that outcome is highly unlikely. Yet whilst it may be improbable, I still want it to happen as I stand to defeat nothing in myself in doing so. If and when we do go down I’ll accept that too. Life’s too short.

I want the new owners, management and players to believe that whilst ever it’s still mathematically possible then there is a chance, however remote, that we will stay up even if, deep down, they know it’s very unlikely to happen. I think the vast majority of us fans feel that way which I’m not sure you’ve grasped.

Good luck with what? Optimism? ? I’m realistic that we stand barely any chance of staying up, I just don’t see the harm in wanting it to happen whilst it is still mathematically possible. If you don’t think it’ll happen that’s your view on it and one you’re entitled to, just not sure what there is to gain from claiming people are “blind” for wanting the team to stay up? ??‍♂️

I’m not sure people qualify as blind, maybe optimistic is a more appropriate word. However improbable it is that we will stay up, whilst still mathematically possible I suppose some people want to hold onto some hope. Plenty of bleakness in the world at large, nowt wrong with a tiny bit of hope even if it is unlikely. ?
