...and that justifies grassing us up to the powers that be, does it?
If he had nothing to gain from it he could, should and preferably would have either kept his mouth shut, or at least  limited his comments to social media posts and podcasts. Quite frankly it's none of his damn business what we do, but he's made it his business and now he spends an inordinate amount of his time publicly criticising us.
He's made his point, why not move onto other matters?
That's what the dislike of Maguire boils down to, we could have 20 page arguments about how his bias, qualifications, motives, career prospects but ultimately nobody likes a grass, nobody likes self-publicising attention seekers.
Sadly there's a handful of people who sit there backing him up because of their own dislike of Mel Morris, as if they have to take a side, and I really don't get it.

To say we should have been prepared for COVID because Ebola happened (ie a virus was successfully contained in central Africa a couple of decades ago) is so disingenuous though. I don’t think the guy is stupid, so can only assume this bad faith argument is, at best, an attempt to stir up controversy and web traffic at our expense. Hardly objective.

Well we went into admin after Lionel Pickering left, and then came the 3 amigos. Lionel was a decent man just a a bit stubborn and he left us in state too. I don’t think he had to deal with a pandemic either.

of course maguire has a vested interest . He has books to sell podcasts he wants people to listen to. He wants a story. That story will be a big one if it leads to the biggest financial failure in English football history and he has a vested interest in that .

It resonates with me cos i had similar.

in 2014, I had an overdraft, three credit cards and a loan. I also was earning a handsome wage and was steadily reducing all of the above. Then, I got made redundant and it took me six months to get a job at similar salary. Whilst the debts prior to losing my job were of my own making, it was the loss of income that prevented me from making payments and caused me to default.

Derby’s loss of income caused the default/admin. Now if clubs weren’t allowed to be in debt, then we deserve what we get, but there are EFL clubs carrying 9-figure debts without scrutiny.

Nope. Can’t agree with your first sentence even. He is not objective, he makes a living providing information as clickbait to prove his own importance! Do you really believe we’re the only club pushing boundaries?! Where is his crusade against Reading etc?
As for his professional ability’s, I remain to be convinced of his accountancy skills.
I heard the ‘message’ before that twit stuck his oar in - it was obvious Mel was pushing our spending limits in the race to the Prem. But even so, our accountancy techniques have not been proven against accounting rules, just EFLs interpretation. If the EFL had told us that sooner maybe we’d have been more cautious with our P&S spending!

I think you distort what i say just a tad.
EFL and Maguire are not independent. That's all there is. Maguire isnt going to slag them off and hasn't ever. He slags Derby and Morris off a lot. It isn't balanced at all. On the facts he is wrong more often than he is right.

If you read my posts you will see that I am not all uncritical of Mel Morris. He has made many many mistakes.  So do many football Charirmen by the way.

It's perfectly possible to simultaneously believe (as I do) that Mel Morris has run the club in a catastrophically awful way, that the EFL have handled their various interactions with us in a pathetically useless way, and that Maguire is an attention-seeking muppet that doesn't seem to know half as much as he thinks he does.

It isn't conjecture. It is a fact. The two have had shared vested interest in people signing up for their courses at the same  business school .  Maguire is not independent of EFL, he peddles their agenda all the time.

By no means are EFL the sole cause of our problems. And by no means has Mel Morris not made multiple errors.
But our ultimate fate our very existence as a club rests with the EFL (and to some extent the forbearance of mel Morris as a creditor). EFL  have within their power to banish us from the League.
If they succeed they will claim a weird distorred moral argument that they have to punish us (all of us every Rams fan, and sorry for questioning if you were Leeds but it wasn't clear)  for the allegedly self inflicted actions. to maintain their "integrity" of the League (no really).
And no I do no trust EFL  one bit, and unless he proves me wrong, i still trust Morris to save us now if he can.   So no I'm not keen to slag him off right now.

Yes I heard that. He says that with the other infections we should have known another was around the corner. That is a stupid thing to say He takes a lot of things from ‘lawyers’ and other ‘experts’ he has spoken to and also mention insurance companies not paying out.
There are a few issues with his assumptions ( as that’s why they are). We are not claiming under an insurance policy so that isn’t really relevant, his lawyers etc do not have all the facts, in fact no more than us.
He shows a real lack of understanding and a real dislike for Derby.

    The guy is a charlatan.
He is no better placed to analyse a football clubs finances than anyone else who knows how to read a set of accounts.
Football finance expert is the most laughable title I have ever heard.
Fair play to him though, he is obviously making a decent living out of a role that he appears to have invented himself.

As I've posted elswehere Maguire is a known work assiociate of Rick Parry , so his views on Derby's battles with EFL will always be indintinguishable from theirs, he will always side wth them. So no he is not objective or reasonable in his views.

On the stadium sale how come Derby were the only ones challenged on valuation? Why were Villa and Hillsborough valuations not challenged. They were lower than Derby's but that's because their stadiums are much older.

Strange how the world's experts in accounting depreciation did not twig that Villa Park had depreciated by a lot more than Pride Park on account of it being about 50 years older. Duh!

He is neither objective nor professional. The club's auditors and the Independent Panel (which included a qualified accountant) both confirmed that the club's amortisation policy was compliant with FRS 102. Maguire sought to make a name for himself by repeatedly pointing out that the policy was slightly different to that used by other clubs and inferring that we were cheating. The EFL saw this as an opportunity to get back at Mel Morris and took it to the Panel, only for us to be exonerated (save for a need to expand the notes in the accounts). Unwilling to lose face in this matter, the EFL appealed the decision (so much for the independent review process) and set up another panel with no accountants asked to rule on an accounting matter which then (unsurprisingly) found us guilty. It is this which infuriates most of our fans.
As for the stadium sale, this was a one-off opportunity to realise the increase in value of the stadium to ease the FFP situation. The valuation was professionally obtained, and both submitted to and adjusted in accordance with the stipulations of the EFL, before the transaction went ahead. Whether or not the transaction was in the best interests of the club is a moot point, but it was categorically NOT cheating. That has not stopped the media and the EFL trying to smear it as such. For the EFL to bring a disciplinary charge against the club for carrying out a transaction which they had not only sanctioned, but which had actually been adjusted in accordance with their stipulations, beggars belief and can only have been motivated by vindictiveness.
For all of their stated desire for fair play, we have seen precious little of it from the EFL so far. They have an opportunity to redeem themselves if they give the Administrators' appeal against the 12 point deduction a fair hearing. We shall see.

Well the government didn't seem too prepared so how can a football club be expected to plan for a global pandemic.
If anything the EFL should factor in extra allowable losses in the event of a global pandemic.
The last 18 months showed the EFL hadn't the foggiest what to do, so they clearly hadn't planned for it either.

Just listened to Liam’s press conference and mightily impressed by the passion, enthusiasm and commitment for the club that he exudes - and I believe it’s genuine.  One of the reasons for the togetherness and fighting spirit that we are showing at the moment is the motivation and belief that both Wayne and Liam command……… players will walk through walls for them I’m sure and I feel this is showing on the pitch.

Below are a couple of emails I have sent and received between Pauline Latham OBE MP and myself. I think it is important to highlight the concerns noted below to your local MPs and particularly anybody in Mrs Latham’s constituency as from her email, she is following the situation of Derby and the EFL very closely and has noted the points I have made.

I’ve been reading this forum for years, finally decided to create an account as I am a passionate Rams fans. The EFL stand on their alleged morals of being fit and proper, how can Peter Risdale be fit and proper to hold a position on the board of the EFL???

I'd agree with the comments that there are clearly some folk still wary of attendance either for personal health or that of family but I also think there is also an element that some folk have simply got out of the habit of going.

I've certainly experienced periods in the past where we didn't seem to be going anywhere, perhaps the football was dull or whatever and it felt like I was going through the motions a bit in terms of attending but continued to do so because I've been doing so for donkeys years and what else am I going to do on a Saturday right ? With Covid though, the inability to attend games for so long might just have been a tipping point for some people and they may be grateful for the extra few hundred quid in the bank and so some folk may well be slow to come back in their former numbers.

The circus that we seem to have become won't have helped but honestly, I didn't really expect more than low 20k crowds at best. I think our current crowds are fairly respectable in the current situation and although we'll always have a hard core of support (as is the case with all teams), in the current climate IMHO it isn't really of any great surprise that more casual fans aren't turning up in huge numbers.

I would say the disappointing attendances this season also highlight how impressive Derby's attendances have been over a number of years. Never before have we had attendances over a season under 20,000 at Pride Park average. Derby always get very strong attendances, checking out other clubs for example, Stoke City averaged under 19,000 a couple of years ago, Leicester had consistently lower attendances than Derby in the championship, Forest had attendances like 19 and 20k and Sheffield Wednesday had under 19k two seasons ago. Derby had 3 seasons of over 29k support in the championship in a row. Thats impressive. If somehow Derby start getting out of a relegation fight -  no more deductions, and get a good takeover, attendances will be back up again.
