Well, someone had to post it!
Actually, I think he needs more time but I would have liked a bit more consistency in selection, a bit less emphasis on chasing around like blue-bottomed flies, and for him to be less in awe of the senior players.
    Work in progress.

The saying goes that the best defenders never have to tackle. When he’s in defensive mode there is something of that to be said about Bird’s play. But if I could change his plumage I’d turn him into one of those players who is constantly wanting the ball and giving options - maybe that’s what you mean when you say he lacks energy.

The main weakness in midfield is not to do with Bird. It’s not having a midfielder who is complementary to him.   And then not playing a formation that compensates for that weakness. Everyone goes on about our inability to score goals. Our bigger weakness this year has been our inability to control the middle of the park.

We have the ability, what we're lacking is the intent.

This is such a surreal game for me.

Forest Green is a tiny hamlet on top of pretty Cotswold town called Nailsworth, the town i grew up next to for 21 years.  I remember going to watch FGR with about 250 fans regularly in their old ground round the corner and playing there a couple of times for my school team.

Now, I'm going to watch FGR v Derby in a league game.  I never thought that would happen.

As a result, myself and all my mates (who all live in Forest Green/Nailsworth) have sorted a box for the day.  They are all closet FGR go see them once every year fans while I'm going to be supporting the mighty Rams.

Jesus christ i hope we don't lose!!!

He's got enough of it in short bursts. And as has been said pace is nothing without control and attacking threat.

Sure, not to mention his decision making in front of goal (surpassed only by Didzy’s). But week in, week out we are outdone for pace. And Dobbin’s got it but Sibley hasn’t

If we sell, say, Knight, it will be interesting to see whether we are allowed to spend the proceeds on transfer fees. Surely we’ll ask

Think this is why David Clowes has told us promotion from div 1 is a 5 year project. I struggle to imagine how the fans would take another 4 seasons in this div

So you are happy that your team, despite being probably the best footballing team in this league, base their game on cheating and foul play? Shame on you.
For the first 20 minutes from kick-off Woodhead did nothing than go around fouling the opposition with no action from the ref, which told the team you would get away with almost anything, which you did. Most of the cards shown to your players were for time-wasting. It made the ref look tough, yet he was actually as tough as cow poo because he let the time wasting continue. Falling to the floor like they had been hit by an Exocet missile, again knowing that getting the free-kick was virtually nailed on, rolling back on to the pitch after feigning injury, and refusing to go off when ordered to by the ref because he hadn’t got the balls to enforce it, and so the list goes on.
Best footballing side or not I cannot wish all the best because you should be promotion contenders because of tour football, not your cheating. 😡

Thats not quite what he said - he said 5 years to become "established" championship side not to be promoted.

Well that was quite an ill-tempered match. Lots of ugly challenges and timewasting throughout.
I was shocked to see Warne go to the 3 at the back today as it didn't work against us at Portman Road and his fortunes seemed to improve when he ditched it back in November. Not a lot changed when he made the switch today, but had he played a different system at the start, I wonder if Derby would have settled into the game better.
We started really well and the movement for Chaplin's goal was sublime. We didn't really capitalise beyond that though and Mendez-Laing clearly had the beating of Greg Leigh whenever he took him on. McGoldrick definitely should have done better with that header and I was happy we went into half-time still ahead.
I've only seen one replay of the disallowed goal but it looked harsh and there's every chance the game could have turned had it been given so it's a big what if. The referee was really poor, he lost control of the game and his decisions with yellow cards were very inconsistent. I'd be surprised if he gets given any of the important games in the run-in because even by League One standards, he was bad and couldn't get a grip on things.
I thought overall we dominated the game and took our chances well, neither team had too many clear cut opportunities but we did enough. The Cashin goal will understandably be the big talking point because it seemed to drain Derby's confidence thereafter.
There's still a long way to go though, most of the top 8 teams are either on amazing or awful runs of form which surely can't sustain itself for another month. As you probably know, Warne's Rotherham team went through some incredibly patchy spells either side of their winning runs.
Good luck for the rest of the season and maybe see you in the playoffs. Although hopefully not, in the nicest way possible!

Go balls out. Two wingers, two strikers, four in midfield and Sibley behind.   Stick Davies at the back on his own.  He'll only be scratching his arse when we're 4 up at half time anyway.

We've gradually shifted from playing through the thirds to playing more aimless balls over the top, it started around the Cheltenham (a) and Bolton (h) games.  You can't point to a single specific game because it's not been a single massive change, it's just something that's crept into our game more and more.  And the overall tiredness is part of it too - it's not just the tactics, it's our fitness to execute those tactics.  For example, you can get away with those long balls if you then press immediately and win the ball back high up the field.  We've stopped doing that too, so those long balls cease to be chances to put their back 4 under pressure, and start being chances for their midfield to run at us.  I'm not the only saying this BTW, multiple other posters have been regularly talking about us playing more long balls in recent weeks.
A lot of the goals we've been conceding have been from people breaking on us - the first goal against Peterborough, 2nd against Fleetwood etc.  And if you watch the highlights of those games back, almost every chance against us is the same - half a dozen opponents streaming forward on the break, while our defence madly backtracks.  There is no doubt in my mind that the tactics we're using, combined with the current lack of fitness, are (at least in part) resulting in those situations.  And dealing with those situations is specifically the weakest part of Cashin's game IMO.
Honestly, I'm finding the "Warne can do no wrong" narrative coming from some people equally tiresome.  He's obviously not the sole reason we've lost form, but he's definitely part of it.
