CocuBarmyArmy got a reaction from Ram1988 in Transfer rumours
Would actually take Ravel Morrison controversially, has the technical ability that we lack so badly at that end of the pitch and is only 31, would be a useful squad player

Bit of an outside shout but I'll always remember beating Hull away in (I think) the 15/16 season. Butterfield brace - really thought we were going up that night...

Friday night, day before my 20th birthday
A pub had gotten a buffet ready for our coach but a lorry had shed its load on the M1 so we never made it and they slammed the phone when we let them know 😂
Mad the rubbish you remember because of football

Respect this view, but we said this during our spending spree trying to get to the prem. Obviously it would depend on the fee, if we can get him for a reasonable price then I agree, but judging by the fact he's still there it's reasonable to expect he'll cost a good amount.

These sort of attitudes are what got us in this mess in the first place, he's 30 and the club will get nothing for him in the end. He could bang 30 in this season and we don't go up, then what? Clowes is shrewd enough to know that's a no go whilst we are in League 1, no way he spends a substantial sum on him judging by the sensible business we've seen so far.

£2 million on a 30-year old with a 2-year contract? That’s a Mel Morris signing.
1) We won’t have anywhere near £2 million and even if we sell Cashin (I hope we don’t), I’d be surprised if we reinvest more than one million.
2) He would probably have zero resale value. Even with two good years, he then leaves on a free.
3) We could do more by asking the EFL to remove this 2-year contract length. That hurts us more than anything.
If we are going to spend money - then get 2 or 3 x 500k players in the 22-26 category.
Hungry, can improve, can increase their value etc.

TBH I think Waggy will score more than C-H, why spend the money. Wait and see how J-J turns out too.

CocuBarmyArmy got a reaction from Kathcairns in Should we be patient? If so, how does it improve?
I know the academy is in a rough spot at the moment, but maybe it could provide that pace we so desperately need. Brown is reasonably quick from what I've seen of him (although that's not much tbf), Robinson looks tidy, it's time we started using our expensive production line.
Obviously it's easy to argue that they are not ready, they might not be and it might not work, but we said that about Ebiowei, Cashin, Ebosele etc (who would likely never had got that chance if it wasn't for admin). We are looking for a striker, give Brown a go, worst case it doesn't work and we are back to where we are now.

I feel the lethargic football we've seen in the last month or so is really a function of the age dynamic in the squad. You just can't expect players in the twilights of their careers to match the level of intensity of sides like Fleetwood and Barnsley. To get out of the league you need a healthy mix with some players in the 25-28 range which we just don't have unfortunately due to the restrictions and whatnot. It's no ones fault really, just the reality we find ourselves in.
We won't go up this year imo and there's absolutely no shame in that, really it's probably better for the club in the long term that we have a year to really get a squad together. Our recruitment next year is going to be absolutely key, we are operating in a restricted space with the EFL plan and so it's vital we get the out of contract players we need.
