See @Srg ‘s explanation above , the council have reasonable doubts about the ownership / investment into the club who could renegotiate the lease.
I think it's the ownership/investment into the facility that could renegotiate with Gateshead, not the other way round.

I would take issue with this, as someone who pays a lot of money to commute from Bristol to utilise my season ticket.
I absolutely accept that this is a tough league to escape from and that some of the dross I have sat through is a necessary part of our progression.
However, in order to grow as a football club, we do need to play a better standard of football to get any joy against better opposition.
But that’s a question for the closed season. Promotion is the first priority.
Paul Warne knows that you have to work very hard to get out of League One. He has never had a squad to be competitive in the Championship.
We won’t know what he’s capable of until we have established our squad for next season.
Who knows, we may see the ball played on the grass yet.
That wasn't the argument being made. The argument is that you pay to watch entertainment. You don't, you pay to watch competitive sport with no guarantees beyond that.

If you've only been entertained by 2 out of 22 home games, I think your expectations might have been a little too high, and if you're only attending Derby games in order to be entertained, then I can understand why you're not renewing. But for many fans, the entertainment factor is only one of many aspects that draw them to Pride Park. For a payment of what is effectively only £8/week, I get an awful lot more than entertainment out of it.
People who pay money just for entrainment should try the cinema or theatre, sport isn't for them.

The EFL are a shambles, but I'm not sure this is caused by them. Maybe it's debateable whether a 10 year security of tenure is really necessary for a promoted team, but this was quite clearly stipulated in the league rules and Gateshead were already informed of this potentially barring them from promotion well ahead of time. I'd be very interested to know why Gateshead council failed to work with the club to provide the security of tenure.
Said it in the other thread, but they have - according to them. Issue being is if the council sell it, the new owners are free to renegotiate.

Because we saw Ipswich playing good football last season and get promoted. It's absolute nonsense that good football can't be successful in league one.
Where's our Ipswich budget? There's a reason they've gone from this league straight to challenging for the Premier League.

Reminder that this was Forest’s opinion of VAR after their promotion…

the VAR official? Famous Forest result gifter, Stuart Atwell. You actually couldn’t make this up.

Here's the EFL decision.
I think it's very sad when it looks like the EFL are hindering, rather than promoting progress.
Just don’t understand the point in playing the season if this is what the outcome is.

Bizarre situation unfolding at Gateshead who were due to start the playoffs this week…
They have not met the ground criteria for entry to the EFL. To be more precise, the ground security portion where they need at least a 10 year lease.
Therefore, they have effectively been thrown out of the play offs and won’t compete in them.
Gateshead rapidly trying to fight it.

It is disgusting, there's so many alternatives to how they could fix this. Ultimately the only clubs this really hurts are the ones who need it in lower leagues and non-league. The worst thing about it, only the Premier League were consulted. Boycott it and the League Cup.
Remove u21 sides from FLT, play them in the FA Cup if you're so scared of fatigue?
Why are the replays removed in rounds way before the bigger teams enter the competition?
Keep replays in rounds 3/4 and then stop them. Also, remove semis from Wembley.
Stop going on pre-season and post-season tours abroad.
I'm slowly starting to think football actually could be better if that Super League happened.

Derby win and both Peterborough and Bolton drop points seals, right?
Derby, Peterborough and Bolton win we go into the last day 3 points ahead?
Is there a scenario where it gets confirmed midweek if Bolton drop points tomorrow, Peterborough win tomorrow and Derby win, but Peterborough drop points in their game in hand?
That's correct. Only slight caveat is in your second scenario is that Posh need to win their other game for it to go into last day like that.

I'm a few years older than you and haven't been able to listen to or watch the away games since the Northampton debacle - even then, I've had angst about when to check on the final score and even which website to get it from - it's ridiculous! 🙄
I may just try to sleep through the game on Saturday.
If anyone is of a nervous disposition, I fully recommend not listening to Ed Dawes.

Paris Maghoma on loan from Brentford would be a very good signing. Having seen him a few times now this season he always seems to be Boltons best player & always causing the opposition problems
Bolton fans see him similar to how we see Ebou. They're desperate to keep him.

It's good to see us getting strong at set pieces, now we just need to work on player movement at throw-ins
Think Warne knows this is an issue as well, believe he's mentioned it relatively recently. Seemed to me that we noticeably took throw ins a lot quicker against Orient and it helped no end. Don't know if anyone noticed that?

Set piece goals feel like a freebie. They feel like you don't have to work too hard to get them (comparatively, in the scheme of things). You can be distinctly second best, get 1 corner and suddenly you're ahead and things look different. Warne has preached the entire time that set piece goals are priceless and it's hard to disagree.

I have a friend who was there last night, said he spoke to Fozzy who said "Don't worry, you've got me for another year yet". So, sounds like he's had an extension.

Lol. I guess it depends how long you've been watching us play? 😄
What I said was factual. If you can't be happy with most points ever, then when can you?

I know you didn't. I did. I think I need to end my posts with /s in this thread as the sarcasm filter seems to be failing.

All a matter of perspective I suppose, you say probably scraped in and yet we’ve accumulated the second largest points total in the league (so far), have the second highest number of wins in the league (so far), and (although I don’t have the stats) have been in the automatic promotion positions for a fair few weeks at the business end of the season.
Has it been hard work at times? Yeah, for sure, but in my opinion over the course of the season it’s hard to say we don’t deserve it based on results and the league table.
“Scraped in?” Not for me.
Don't forget it's the most points we've ever had, and the joint most away wins we've ever had. Guess we've never had a good season before.
