Love this player. He was THE one that I was desperate for us to keep. You knew Ebiowe and Lawrence would be gone, but to build our next team He was the foundation stone. Delighted he did well today. Day 1 he looked the real thing. Still does ?

That was a kick the cat performance, so close to being decent but not.
    * I haven't got a cat, no animals were harmed in the creation of this post. I did abruptly close YouTube though.

That's simply not always the case - An example - When American Express started sponsoring Brighton's stadium and then their shirts, it was nothing to do with issuing more cards or getter greater revenue. It was an investment in the city where they employ 2,000 people, it involved partnering with the club on community based initiatives etc etc. I suspect Lotus at Norwich would be exactly the same, there will be other examples.

It's going to be frustrating if we don't win this - Dropped catches, misfields, no balls. Obv a bit short with the bat but could have put them away.

The biggest problem we had was going into a game like this without four absolutely key players (Du Plooy, Madsen, Conners, Scrimshaw).
Disappointing, but Derbyshire remained competitive to the last.

So it proved. Hampshire are a good team, there’s a reason they’ve won 4 in a row, and won the T20 blast. Considering the players missing I thought it was a good effort.

Much better day for Conners, 4 wickets including those 2. Can we get him up the motorway to get a few overs in here ?

More on topic though, it takes a lot for me to either like or dislike another club, I really don't care. I support Derby, Derby U21, Derby U18, Derby Women, Derby & district U13 paper boys second XI. Oh, and Belper Town. I've got several friends who want the bantz about how well their teams are doing, or not, but I don't give a flying cluck.

Im not really sure. When the batsmen hit the ball high in the air and it landed on the outfield it seemed to plug rather than roll on. Other than that, Lancashire just seemed reluctant to go on the attack until the very end. At least one of the set batsmen should have gone on the attack far earlier in my opinion.

Agreed with much of your post but particularly this bit. That's leadership for you, that's taking a stand. Some will wait for governing bodies or even governments to define that something is within or without the rules or laws, others will make that stand, that's the difference between leaders and followers and I know which boat I like to be in. Gambling is so horribly and obviously addictive, ruins lives yet it's integral to sport and football in particular - let's kick gambling ads out of football.

    Interesting and relevant debate this.
I'm not a gambler and have never particularly been interested in it, beyond a social flutter on the grand national or whatever. I always lose and have never seen the appeal.
However, through work, I have spoken to numerous people affected by gambling addiction and the tragic consequences outlined by the OP.
As with many issues of this nature the situation will only change through regulation and a handful of clubs making a stand is unlikely to have much impact. That doesn't mean they shouldn't make that stand. Just because the money is there and we need it, doesn't mean that we should take it.
Some have commented that gambling had been around for years, so why get Draconian now. The simple issue is that gambling online, with enticing free bets and in-play betting is so much more accessible and instantaneous. This drives a chemical reaction in the brain that is highly addictive. After being suckered in, there's often a downward spiral and there will be many, many more like the OP talked about. It's a bigger issue than people realise and we'll only start to see the scale of the devastation over the next few years.
Will it make much difference if we choose to ban gambling adverts from shirt sponsorship etc? Probably not systemically but if there's the slightest chance that one youngster will avoid the fate of the young lad in the OP, then I think it's a moral stand worth taking. I also think we will be on the right side of history when (and it will be when) online gambling is regulated and marginalised.
Regardless of our recent history, Derby are an exciting proposition for a whole host of potential sponsors and we should challenge ourselves to take a difficult stand if that's what it takes.
The short version of this tome is: I agree with the petition, I'm in. Should have probably written that at the start...

*** Two tickets for the Oxford match ***
I have two tickets for the match (1 x adult, 1 x 6-12 year-old) available. They are together in the North Stand. I can't get there now due to car trouble.
If nobody wants them on here I'll contact the club or the Rams Fans Trust I saw on this forum.
They are free to a good home - feel free to make a donation to charity if you wish. I trust that whoever takes them won't just sell them for a quick profit. I'm sure people on here wouldn't do that!
Not sure how best to forward the tickets (they are hard copy) and I am NW based so we'll have to cross that bridge as and when.
If I hear nothing back by 9am tomorrow (Friday) I'll explore other options.
( @David - I assume this is okay to post as it's a genuine attempt to get two more Rams into PP to support the team rather than someone looking to turn a profit on face value? If not then please let me know and I'll delete this post).

Sorry but that’s nonsense- we will be able to compete but it will be a case of settling down in the league with some poor performances here and there mixed with some good ones. With better cover at right back and a forward with good pace we will look a different side in terms of really challenging for promotion
