JustOneBiblicalKazim reacted to angieram in Is Warne living on borrowed time?
I'd say that applies to at least one if not both of our existing wingbacks.
In fact I think Rooney is already the best defender of the three.
Of course, I wouldn't be playing him at wingback, I'd play him at right back, threading those lovely balls up to NML. He did really well with that today.

Eventually we have to give someone from below a proper run.
Both Rooney and Thompson deserve that on today's showing.

Wasn't he good today to say he's had so little game time?
Bearing in mind he's not been playing at all with under 21s yet this season. There's no wonder he was cramping up.

Yes, more than happy with Rooney at RB.

I was more concerned about him saying he wanted to sign another right wing back. What's he going to do with the other two when they're fit again? 🤔

And that he is close to bringing in another right wingback.
Seems mad to me when the system doesn't seem to suit us, and we have cover in Rooney and Smith and Mendez-Laing and Bardell for the next two months if required. If we're money in the kitty, spend it elsewhere!

I think it was 4 at the back when attacking and 5 when defending? Not sure it was a bit messy most of the time.

Bolton and Posh will both finish in or around the top six this season.
Cambridge and Stevenage will not.
It’s simple. We failed to reach the top six last season because our form against the better sides isn’t good enough.
League One is a league divided in two. We know this. By beating the small teams, all we are doing is matching the results of our rivals.
To get promoted, we have to beat our rivals. It’s simple really.

Still a poor performance but at least we got the win. Papers over the cracks that are still there though.

Didn’t particularly enjoy that despite the win. We’re so laboured trying to pass it. There was one bit in the first half where we put 5/6 quick passes together, eventually losing it. That was nice to watch. Otherwise, Fleetwood deserved a point at least

I'd like to see Thompson and Rooney stay in the team. Waghorn is our best striker. Forsyth is excellent and was last season. Another midfielder and a couple of creative forward players and we will be doing alright.

Stopped the rot. That's as positive as I can be sadly about that performance.

Rooney looks class, so comfortable on the ball and moving forwards.

Because they aren't all 30 year old ex-Rotherham players?
Maybe Mark Thomas isn't impressed with the sort of players Warne wants to sign, either?
I remember reading the blurb about him when he started. That's exactly what we were told he was good at. So why did we employ him if we are only looking for League One promotion experience?

JustOneBiblicalKazim reacted to Dartmouth Ram in Andy Yiadom
If we were looking for a RB who can play across a back 4 wouldn't either Ryan Nyambe or Steven Sessegnon be better options?
Both currently out of contract, both right side of 30 and both realistic signings for L1.
I totally get the need for having experience through the squad but we should also be looking long term. With this current model we'll be rebuilding the squad every two years with very little or no resale value to show for it.
Bonkers.

JustOneBiblicalKazim reacted to Kernow in So who would we have then?
Someone who would play positive football, 4 at the back, a holding midfielder, two centre mids, two wingers and a focal point up top. Positive football, good coaching.
Adaptable accent based on location and receding hair is optional.

Returned to full training this week. Can't hurt bringing him on for the last 10/15 minutes of the game.

JustOneBiblicalKazim reacted to Srg in v Oxford United (H) Match Thread
Positives:
Wilson, Thompson, Washington (in that order)
Negatives:
Bradley is god awful. I have no words for how bad he actually he is. He’s so tentative, like he’s scared of the damn headers
Pace. We have less than none.
Hourihane anonymous other than dead balls. Korey Smith tragic. Collins in their number 5’s pocket.
Ward injured. Looks like Bird injured too right at the end.
There’s no fixing it without multiple signings or playing younger players. Play Rooney, play Robinson, get Dajaune Brown involved. Start Thompson. Drop Collins
Truly horrendous.

Save the money until January. Play our own youngsters - Rooney, Robinson, Radcliffe, Tommo, etc.
