    Speak for yourself.
If you want to say that you believe the EFL has a vendetta against us then that's your prerogative but to then transpose your opinion onto other posters is extremely presumptuous.

What a load of rubbish.... I am 100% NOT behind the club 100% of the time, I am 100% NOT in agreement with lots of things the club do, so that doesn't make me a supporter?

Give it a rest, take off your tin foil hat. He messed up, he messed up big time, and now we are facing the consequences of it.

covid isnt the only cause, but with one of the largest gates in the championship, in my opinion most people with a legal understanding of the circumstances would say that it played a big part in derbys financial woes.

As i'm not the ringmaster to whip up the crowd I think that's a fare point you've made, So i'll retract the "majority of us" and substitute "some of us"

My opinion, your either 100% behind the club on and off the pitch or you’re not a supporter.

It resonates with me cos i had similar.

in 2014, I had an overdraft, three credit cards and a loan. I also was earning a handsome wage and was steadily reducing all of the above. Then, I got made redundant and it took me six months to get a job at similar salary. Whilst the debts prior to losing my job were of my own making, it was the loss of income that prevented me from making payments and caused me to default.

Derby’s loss of income caused the default/admin. Now if clubs weren’t allowed to be in debt, then we deserve what we get, but there are EFL clubs carrying 9-figure debts without scrutiny.

Think it's best that we agree to disagree.
Ultimately I hope that at least the majority of people on here accept the outcome of the appeal to the EFL whatever it is.
I just get the feeling that this won't happen if our points deduction is upheld and will be put forward as another example of the EFL shafting us rather then looking at actually how we got us into this mess in the first place
Anyway here's in hope that it does get reduced.

It has to be conjecture as you would be able to substantiate them as fact which you can't, all you do is further your opinion. I understand that this is a forum for discussion but for anyone to propogate their own opinions as fact is a step too far and just seems to smack of desperation to validate their own opinions.
I don't see anyone slagging Morris off as you put it, I do see people furthering their own opinions about how the club got into this mess in the first place regardless of the EFL, Maguire or Who Flung Dung.

If this was a homicide investigation, we'd all be typing in an American accent, and my real name would be Clint... or Elijah... or Henry... or Theodore... or Bill or George or Frank... Any damn thing but Sue! I still hate that name!

    So, according to you :
    1. KM points out a demonstrable fact
    2. the EFL tries to exploit it
    3. the EFL then tries to rig the process

and yet you still blame him?
As for the rest of it, in my view separating off your main asset as a device to get round rules governing spending is not sensible, acceptable or anything other than an existential threat to the long term health of the club. And Mel Morris should be ashamed of himself for doing it. As an outsider, I find the fact that there isn't more anger about that very odd. I obviously need to stick around to improve my understanding. ?

If mel was looking to sell because his cash was running out then you can't claim from 2015-2016 we were on the path to sustainability and profitability....  You can't have your cake and eat it.

Mel hasn't just gambled his money he's gambled this club's future existence which is utterly inexcusable. He's not only completely mismanaged the club to a degree rarely seen in english football but he's walked away after claiming he can no longer fit the bill and publically declared none of it is his fault, instead it's entirely to do with covid... It's so mind-bogglingly arrogant and stupid of him to make such claims I can't believe anyone has fallen for it.

The other way of looking at it is that he is relatively objective and professionally well placed to form judgements. How many fans can say the same?
I don't really understand the vitriol, given that through his Podcast he does rather more to inform you an your own club management has historically done. He's also better placed to perceive how your club are regarded than you are (understandably, it's not a criticism per se). Do you not think that there is a strong element of you not wanting to hear the message?

In my head this appeal is simple.
Would we have gone in to administration had the pandemic not happened? No.
Is the pandemic the only reason we ended up going in to administration? No.
The way our club has been run as a business meant we were much less resilient to external factors than other clubs and this is why I believe the appeal is a waste of time. The EFL or whoever looks at this will simply point out that we were a basket case going in to the pandemic, so it's our own fault we were unable to survive it.

I agree our case is very different on the facts. But the EFL talk about the ‘benefactor’ model. The Wigan extract posted by @PistoldPete suggests the panel decided that where you have that model and where the owner decides not to continue to fund, then that is the cause of the insolvency. In our case, EFL can say: it’s obvious MOrris was the cause. Because the club stayed out of insolvency for 18 months of covid, whilst he continued to fund. (I think it’s a daft way of looking at it btw)

Well I don’t know, but as our non-parachute payment income was fairly high but mainly relying on fans attendances, then our budget would have been commensurate to that? And then we didn’t qualify for the Prem loan.
