What are your spine-tingling derby moments? The moments where a little tear started to come down from your eyes or a shiver went down your spine? For me there are more than a few. But the most recent one must be the atmosphere before kick off at Pride Park against Carlisle. Not sure I've ever heard the ground this loud and after all the club had been through a couple of years ago it felt like a truly cathartic release of passion, energy and noise.  (youtube video start at just before 4 minutes)

In fairness, aspirations are different from dreams. Dreams are oxymoronic to being realistic but you can have realistic aspirations i.e., a desire to achieve something feasible and reasonable. I think mid-table is a realistic aspiration with a top 10 finish unlikely but possible.

I actually got onto the ticket portal for the final round of tickets and had a decent choice but in the end decided against it as the cost was too great with everything all in. You'll be fine without ID, they said this in Euro 2016 which I went to and no ID was needed to be shown. The E-Tickets are non-transferable in theory but you may get lucky...

I would imagine with Portsmouth it was because there was a player injured which there was not at our place. It was all in good spirits, no-one was harmed and it looked and felt amazing.

We're a big club in the sense that we're in the top 20 for the most successful sides in the country and always in and around the top 20 for average attendances even when playing in the damn 3rd division. Those two parameters make us a 'big' club by any definition. We're big we're just not 'the biggest'.

All the generations (whatever they are - I simply can't retain that pointless info so it would be great if someone posted a list) are a daft Americanism. We're boomers or Z or Millennials... So what?
    However...
The correct spelling of generalization is obviously with the z. As someone who was an Oxford University Press publisher for over a decade, I can assure you all of that. Look in the Oxford dictionary and you will see Z. Inspector Morse even solved a murder one time because a professor's apparent suicide note was obviously fake because it used S spellings and no educated person would do such a thing.
What happened was the founding fathers went off to the new world spelling everything with a Z, and America has stayed true to those British spellings. But some here tried to subvert the language to bring in these new-fangled S things.
    Meanwhile, generational characteristics...

I'm a millennial and work with kids/adults who are part of Gen Z. Gen Z'ers by and large seem to be more worried about more things than my generation were. Some of this is enforced upon them and necessary but other aspects are not. On the work side again it's a generalisation but I wouldn't say they are significantly worse than my generation. The lazy ones are generally lazier than the lazy ones from my generation but those who work hard probably also work harder. The big slab in the middle fits both quite neatly. I would say from my experience they seem more sure of themselves than they were of people my age at that time in our lives. But then again it could be me overcompensating and misremembering.

It's hard to judge the effects of social media combined with the isolation of covid. There are economic factors at play but they'll begin to level themselves out in 10 years i.e., when most Gen Z'ers are hitting their stride if I had to guess. The real economic catastrophe has hit my generation of millennials who are now hitting 30. Chances of promotions oftentimes frozen, entire industries collapsing around us and wages stalled in relation to inflation for a decade. Not to mention house prices just as we're supposed to be getting on the ladder. If I had to guess Gen Z will hit the sweet spot of economic recovery just in time for things to begin shifting in relation to new realities.

I'm 6 months sober today, and apart from a couple of hiccups, I have drank very little in the time since my board meltdown 18 months or so ago (I'm guessing).
I'm sick of people in recovery circles saying alcohol is evil.
Alcohol isn't evil, I've had some of the best times of my life in its company.
It's just not right for some people, and too many people are uneducated about how it is/can affect them, but demonising something doesn't help. It just makes people with good intentions look evangelical and hysterical.

Just because I can't drink responsibly doesn't mean I'm a miserable ducker and expect the world to abstain.

Coventry should be our model, not Ipswich. They haven't spent a fortune, have a decent if unsexy manager and came up from league 1. In their first season, they finished 16th then 12th then 5th then 9th with an FA Cup semi-final achieved as well. It is possible to be successful in the championship without spending a ton of money but it requires an ethos, properly planned management and consistency.  For my money anywhere between 12th and 18th is a solid achievement. Any lower than that and depending on the budget then questions should be asked. Anything higher than 12th and it's an extremely good season but I'm not expecting it.

The bookies have us 20-1 to win the league and 11/4 for top 6. About 11th alongside the likes of Stoke. Too short to warrant a bet IMO.
Realistically - relegation would be complete failure. 16th to 21st is a reasonable expectation, pretty similar to the Wendies and Plymouth this season.
Top half would be an excellent season and play offs would be miraculous.

@Leeds Ram summed it up, Coventry should be the model we follow. Very similar situation being promoted after major collapse and having to build without much investment. Luton had a way of playing and a unique momentum that catapulted them forwards, and we just don’t have the budget to do what Ipswich did (although they only had a top half budget and massively overachieved)
Only way I could see this changing is if we had major investment or a take over in the summer.
