  1. My old man tells a story about the 3rd Div North promotion team. We'd won away and the opposition manager complained to Harry Storer that some of our lads had been 'clogging'. Storer asked for the names of our dirty players. Opposition manager asked if he was going to give them a bollocking. Storer replied "No, but I am bollocking the others". So, in answer to OP, late 1950s probably.
  2. I chuckled, my missus asked why.I showed her. I got the look. 😑
  3. Ed and Mally are a good team, with Eric adding a dash of extra wisdom. Never going to match Graham Richards superb tone and turn of phrase, with Colin Gibson holding the show together and Ian Hall grumping through with the joie de vivre of a man with severe haemorrhoids and and a toothache. Magic.
  4. I'd be concerned if we were looking to start him as our main striker next year, but I think folks are being a bit harsh on him. Did well for us, IMO.
  5. Hourihane, Waghorn and Bird are going or gone. TJJ and Ebou loans finished. Robinson looks like a loan out waiting to happen if retained. That leaves 19 outfield players, with questions marks over Gayle, Smith, Foz, Collo, Barkhuisen for contract renewals. Sibley and Thomo surely deserve an extension? 7-11 outfield players required in my opinion, and I'd be looking at 10-11 depending on who we think we can get. Plus the Wildsmith situation to resolve. Going to be a busy summer.
  6. I loved him to bits. He betrayed everything a decent person in his place should hold dear; his team-mates, his responsibilities as captain, the club, the fans. He can rot in hell.
  7. The new main stand that nearly bankrupted them set back about 30 yards from the pitch, the rest of the stadium crumbling. I've never been so cold in my life. I thought I was going to lose my toes.
  8. LoG #2? Can't see it. Random yank/arab/Chinese billionaire? Can't see it. Local based consortium? Can't see it. If it happens I reckon it'll be a UK based businessman with a track record of decency and solid business practice. Morgan for instance rather than an Ashley.
  9. Warne was given a 4 season deal, of which he's got two left. Warne's brief was to deliver an established Championship club. He's achieved the first step. The conduct of Mr Clowes' tenure so far is pretty strong evidence that Warne will get every chance to deliver. Unless and until we have a catastrophic spell where the team have clearly thrown in the towel and we're cut adrift in the relegation zone, Warne will stay. If we could agree on that premise, surely it'd be best for club that we refrain from indulging ourselves with the topic for a few months at least?
  10. I liked the away fans, I liked winning most weeks. The novelty of third rate away stadia soon wore off (from the comfort of my sofa on RamsTV). The quality of the football though. Jesus. Compared to the Championship it's awful. Much better entertainment on offer next year...assuming we're competitive.
  11. Gives the option of a 4, or cover at right of a 3. Lovely player either way.
  12. Kudos to Cash and Nels too on that score.
  13. 7th manager in 140 years to get us a promotion? Record points haul? Most away wins? Managed to get through the interviews without saying he wished it was his previous club? If there is anything to forgive...it's forgiven.
  14. Thanks for everything Max, but man this looks like a dodgy career move to me. All the best though.
  15. Plan A was to be lightly toasted from early evening tonight through to kick off. Can't do that as number the junior offspring needs picking up from work at 11:30. Hence I'm just a bag of nerves. Soaringly optimistic one minute, panicked beyond belief the next. Roll on kick off.
  16. 4-0 Derby. Collo hat-trick. Wilson wonder goal after a mazy dribble. Beer everywhere. All. Over. Town. Come on you Rams.
  17. If Warne gets us up and keeps us up, he'll deserve and get a new contract. If he then nicks a play-off win and gives us 5 years of Stoke under Pulis, Burnley under Dyche type premier league football...would he be a Bald Eagle style hero? Or would folks still moan? I'm not sure what we expect, collectively. I hope and expect that the football will be better next season IF we do go up.
  18. Curtis Nelson - 10 Immaculate since September Callum Elder - 5 Started poorly, picked up but do often injured. Joe Ward - 6 Can't play FB. Crossing from the gods. Sonny Bradley - 6 redeemed himself to a degree. Josh Vickers - 8 done well when called upon Kane Wilson - 7 Can't play FB. Dribbling from the gods. Martyn Waghorn - 6 looked class early doors, willing, but so often injured. Conor Washington - 6 looked a pacy threat when fit, but so often injured. Tyrese Fornah - 5 Where did the Blackpool away form go? Disappointing Elliot Embleton N/a...too little evidence Ryan Nyambe 9 Strength, calm. Proper player...shame about the injury. Tyreece John-Jules 6 clearly a player. Always injured. Winter: Ebou Adams 11. Best loan since Leon Osman. Dwight Gayle 7bit of class, but....injured Corey Blackett-Taylor Can I plead the 5th? No? O.K. 3 - one or two flashes aside he's been awful. Max Bird* 7 dependable on the ball. Injured. *I've included Max, as I feel it was crucial we had him to the end of the season. Extensions: Nathaniel Mendez-Laing 10. Carries so much threat. Eiran Cashin 10. Nuff said. Jake Rooney 8. looked a player until Bkackpool
  19. What was the xC (expected conviction) on Marinakis though? Maybe he's been lucky so far, and if he keeps getting himself into the wrong positions, eventually his luck will change.
  20. They won't play a full team and they won't be at full tilt. Bolton will smash them, especially if we go behind and they get their tails up. It's on us.
  21. It's us or Bolton then, and judging from how Posh have clocked off, we won't get any favours on Saturday. Get the result or fail. Be horrible to go one down.
  22. I can't get my dad's ticket renewed online. He's relying on me to get it, but when I check his ID and proceed it's not available. Any ideas? (On my login)
  23. If that's what we're working to, football is dead. VAR has to go. I'm not sure I could stand the Prem any more.
  24. The 50 passes thing was a bit OTT then. Didn't we have a 30 odd pass goal vs Yeovil once under Mac1?
  25. I do want Posh to win midweek. But come next Saturday lunch it's all about us getting out of the traps fast and overwhelming Carlisle. Get in front and keep turning the screw. This isn't done yet.
