I don't think this is a plan b to Adams, I think people are overlooking how many bodies we need to be competitive in the Champ. This would be an option and a replacement to Bird/Hourihane etc.  I have no idea who he is which means I'm excited.

He’s a much different player to Adams, he’s not that physical but has very very impressive crossing/passing ability 
A good presser, who can take on a man, he’s much more of a technical midfielder and he would compliment Adams well, imo.

Still think England can win it , we certainly played within our capabilities in the group , doing enough to qualify , England will be a different animal in the knockouts, Harry, Jude  and the boys will see us  to victory

Southgate probably can’t believe his luck avoiding Germany, Spain, Portugal, France and Belgium.
Italy are weak, and Holland probably just about make up the top 10 in the world.

This doesn't make a lot of sense.
You were saying that Argentina weren't any good and I was rewriting history to say they were. 
You also say that there is meaning behind England not beating a top 10 side, in a knockout match (but don't forget foreign soil). But you then list loads of unlucky matches, except you also include Lampards disallowed goal in a game England were dire in.
I'm not sure why this knockout question is so hard to understand. Between 96 and 04, we lost 4 knockout matches from 5 tournaments, 2 on pens, one vs Brazil, one vs Argentina when Beckham got sent off. Small sample size, but a but unlucky.
From 06 to 16, we were dire. Terrible managers, over hyped and idiot celebrity players.
Under Southgate, a game vs Croatia we weren't quite good enough in, a pen loss vs Italy, then a close game vs France when we missed a pen too.
There ars fine margins in knockout games against the best teams. A couple more penalty wins and we could have been one of the most successful tournament sides in last 30 years.
We probably lack a little belief at key moments and it's a vicious circle now.

Netherlands were wide open at the back against Austria and they'll push forward in attack - I think we'd have a good chance of beating them.

The results are fine, we've finished top. But I just can't understand why we are playing so poor. I don't think I've seen this team look so lacklustre and devoid of ideas. Our best players just aren't showing up like they have previously. Need to move the ball quicker and start running at teams. It's not difficult.

I just want a few more oooh and arrrr moments that put me on the edge of the seat.

In World Cup 2002 we drew with Sweden and Nigeria in the group stage.
In Euro 2004 we lost 2-1 to France despite being 1-0 up in the 90th minute. Then drew with Portugal.
In World Cup 2006, we drew with Sweden, beat a cricket team 2-0, and had single goal victories against Paraguay and Ecuador before another draw with Portugal. 
Why do you not apply the same criticism to Erikkson that you do to Southgate (as soon as we meet anyone decent we lose)?

I don't think the performance today was as bad as is being made out, and is more a reflection of how bad the Denmark game was.
