IslandExile got a reaction from Kathcairns in Are you glad to be a Derby fan?
We are all Derby County fans. We have no choice. We support them through thick and thin - and always will. It's our club.?
But would you rather things be a little less stressful? A few years of respite? Or maybe, the "stress" (not real stress) of chasing a Champions League spot?
Yes there are other possibilities. It's late, been a long day and I'm too knackered to list all the possible options. Don't find one you like, just write about it - or move on. Ta.
Personally, I have found the last few months to be traumatic but I do think we will look back and remember the achievements, the games, the togetherness very fondly.
I love being a Derby fan. COYR ?

I wanted to use this to say the personal and vile abuse Ed Dawes has been getting on Twitter is disgusting.

Bring out Billy. Unfinished business.
Ian Holloway
Maybe Martin “Mad dog” Allen fancies another gig
Barry Fry might want one last hurrah, 27 years after missing out last time to Bald Eagle

On the plus side, Clowes looks to be over 40 and is clearly both a fan and a man who feels obligated to do the right thing.
So come on David, your first decision should be the obvious one to finally turn the club's luck around.
Bring back the proper colours. I know I speak for all fans - well the sensible ones at least...Derby County should play in white shirts and navy blue shorts.

I am willing to bet Wayne wanted out but not before the club was safe. At the same time the Admins kept him to save money and attract bidders. I bet his is a very interesting tale. I’d be surprised now if we kept any of last seasons warriors, Curtis apart and even that’s not a dead cert. Oh well. DCFC is a greater thing than any player, legend, manager.
good luck Wayne. Thank you for being a decent bloke. ?

Okay. Surprised to say the least. Obviously his future here was tied very closely to Kirchner's promises and lies.
Typical of Derby to counter this morning's more positive news with a complete plot twist in a matter of hours.
Initial thoughts are annoyance, all this talk of his loyalty is pretty much out of the window. I can see that it's going to take its toll on anyone and I guess we can't blame anyone for saying that's enough, god knows most of us should have quit jobs before they destroyed us, but I feel he's jumped for his own reputation now. A lacklustre league one campaign would no doubt lower his stock from premier League job offers to second rate championship sides.
Davies interview with Sky was enlightening. He was very much of the opinion that Liam was the man to continue the positive vibes and take us forward, and I inferred that Davies and others would buy in to him and stick around so might be worth a shot.
On the flip side of course LR has no real experience so an older head and a clean slate could likely be more productive.
Never boring is it.

Been listening to Radio Derby and all the chat from Ed Dawes and fans ringing about clear the decks, experienced manager etc etc - NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! If we want to end up like Forest were, like Sunderland like Ipswich stranded down here for years then taking this approach will lead directly to that. You would be bringing in a manager, with an ego with a set way of doing things, will sign experienced names who all don’t get the club!!
Look at the clubs promoted this season or competing. Leam Richardson at Wigan, Liam Manning at MK Dons, the impact Kieran McKenna has had at Ipswich going in after the Paul Cook clusterfuck! Darren Moore, Ryan Lowe previously at Plymouth, Ian Evatt was inexperienced doing a great job at Bolton. We need someone dynamic who gets the club and can inspire the players and build on the feel good factor of last season.
Step forward Liam Rosenior. He’s the only man for the job IMO.

In the 60 years of supporting Derby County I've seen many managers and coaches, come and go, and in the future there will be many more, so despite all the efforts Wayne Rooney gave the club last season, he didn't actually, from a playing point of view, achieve very much.
Yes, there were several high spots, never losing at home to any of the top-six teams, and getting the fan base to support the team throughout the season, however the away performances were, at times, dire.
Like Frank Lampard, the media emphasis at times was more about Wayne Rooney, than the team, and in the best interests of the club, I think it was the best option that Rooney departed and we begin again.
In all those seasons, in my opinion, there have only been 3 good managerial teams - Clough & Taylor; Cox & McFarland and Smith & McClaren.
Undoubtedly, Derby County FC need stability, on and off the field, and I believe that can only be achieved by a solid business acumen in the boardroom and an understanding that running a football club is a different model to normal businesses, followed by an appointment of an experienced, "older" (but not too old( manager/coach, who not only "knows the league", but also where to find the up and coming players who are eager to impress and desire achieve higher things.

I Wish Rooney all the best for his future and have respect for him and how he conducted himself with derby county in very bad times ,
truth is though ,the club is on its uppers and probably can’t finance the kind of players needed for a promotion push under Rooney next season , where is the sense in having a high profile high earning manager if you can’t afford to get him the players he needs to bounce straight back up as he would want to do ,
thanks Wayne all the best,
let’s get the club saved and start to build back again with realistic manger ,players and fan expectations for where we have been left by the plague that was mel Morris
