People talk about the perfect storm of no investment, bad running, bad players, but we had some horrendous luck as well. Just a normal amount of luck and we might have got a couple more points.

Remember Liverpool cheating one away from us at home which we'd have had with VAR nowadays.

Interestingly, Sunderland lost 4-0 to Man utd that day and 7-1 to Everton the day we lost to Chelsea,  They got 39 points despite clearly being s**** .😂

  2. This is nothing to do with other options being more viable.

It's all about this and it's why I expect they'll shortly be advising they want me to work till 70.

Current estimates of the total cost of government Covid-19 measures range from about £310 billion to £410 billion. This is the equivalent of about £4,600 to £6,100 per person in the UK. Official figures show that spending in 2020/21 was about £179 billion higher than had been planned before the pandemic for that year.

    Anyone watched it?

Nothing overly revealing other than he's a clean freak and that affair, which there was no denial or confession, leaves you in no doubt he is guilty.

It's kinda interesting though, the insight and contains a lot of private footage, which he admits on Stick to Football on YouTube had planned to do a long time ago, hence the footage.

A lot of old teammates/managers feature to give him glowing references as you would expect.

4 episodes, around 4 hours long if you have nowt to watch it's worth a go.

4 being the number it also took in years to sign Messi at Inter Miami.

The bits I enjoyed were the clips of league tables consistently showing Derby in the top 8 places of the table.  We were 5th in the Arsenal documentary I watched the other week and the clips of Franny Lee I've seen we were champions .  70's, 80,s and 90's.

We should forget all that though based on one crap season and accept that Bournemouths parachute payments and Brentford having a few good transfer windows means the football tides have turned forever.

Without getting political about it, and risking this thread being closed, there are so many questions I have about this whole project from the higher ups involved. I was listening to the Rest is Money with Robert Peston and Steph McGovern (fantastic podcast) and they spoke in clear detail about why HS2 is just ridiculously expensive vs what France did with their high speed rail.

Firstly, our culture of NIMBYs makes all our construction projects very complicated. We as a country cannot build anything without endless red tape and going through so many planning departments and lawyers but mainly the big barrier is people flat out refusing to allow anything to be built near their property. The French get around this by essentially paying people compensation for the inconvenience which in turn is far cheaper than trying to manoeuvre around the problem and cause more delay and creating a huge bill for little benefit. I'm not say let's go full China and demolish buildings to make way for rail, there needs to be a more open approach to developing our infrastructure from the public, otherwise we'll be going nowhere and not be able to develop anything in the future.

Secondly our contracting costs to public projects is a joke. They completely rinse the tax payer when it comes to building anything for public use, whether that's hospitals, rail or roads. Having seen what builders charge to fix a toilet block at Royal Derby then it's no wonder everything costs so much. They add at least for a few more digits to the invoice and yet we've been paying them the bill. Now it's becoming a point of this is becoming so expensive that we have to start scrapping these big projects and cherry pick what we can and can't build.

They should have started on building a new line from Manchester to Leeds, but of course we have to make sure London is involved because that is the centre of the universe....

  5. I had to go to a place called Newton Le Willows once by train .  It really isn't far.  3 trains that should have been scrapped 25 years ago including one that was such a state I had visions of it being used to highlight Britain's disenfranchised youth on the front of a punk album.  Two delays -one that was 50 minutes in the pissing rain with no cover and about 7 hrs round trip including going in the wrong direction to Sheffield for an hour as a starter.  Horrific antiquated service.

I can get a train from Birmingham to London in about an hour and a half ?  It was about that from Lichfield .

I would add however, that I once had the misfortune of a tube stop in London being out of commission and it turned into Armageddon.  It's alright if it works

Cashin is a donkey compared to Stimac and I do like him as a player.

I remember being at work when Derby were missing Stimac against Leicester and a Leicester fan advised us we were lucky as they were missing Prior AND Walshy.  How we laughed, even the resident plastic Liverpool fan, at the comparison.

I wasn't laughing when we replaced Stimac with bleedin Prior.

To be fair, I'm hopeful that Warne will stick to 4231, with Wilson RW. At least to start the game.

Barkhuizen, Sibley, Washington and Waghorn to come on for the front 4, Hourihane for one of Smith and Fornah.

Glad that Barkhuizen fella ain't playing, he looked terrible at the weekend.  Stick with Jetlag- Laing who's been electric.

Is there a wall for that?

Incidentally you’ve done well to apparently forget enough Derby players such that Washington makes your all time worst 20 / possible worst 10. We’ve had whole teams who could have taken up 11 of the 20 spots available! (That said, we weren’t in League One for some of those)

Just a book he adds to after training.  It's full of those who fail the bleep test and tear muscles in the warm down.

  9. We missed Hourihane today.  Firstly, his set pieces would be better.  Secondly,  whether he's playing well or not, it gives their defence who were quite happy to sit in and head it away, the stick or twist dilemma that not pushing up means he could rocket one in from 15 yards at any point.  That's why Sibley should have played behind Waghorn when the subs were made.  It would have made their centre backs very uncomfortable for 30 mins.

Really poor game management.  A Sunday league manager would have seen it.

Pail Warne’s observation that when we tried playing through the middle the passes got blocked misses the fact that he had the wrong player in the key position. He put Waghorn in the number 10 role, and the lad looked lost. He should be up front, although he is happy playing out wide. This is quite ripe for another pro-Sibley comment, so here it is. He was sat on the bench yet again. Warne acknowledges that Sibbers is the best finisher at the club, so when we are struggling to score, why put him on the bench? His best position is at number 10, but when he finally gets on, 65 minutes too late, it is stuck out wide, where Waggy prefers to be! What if Warne had played a number 10 in the number 10 role, instead of giving the job to a player whose only link to the role is having a number 10 on his back?

I hear he found him having a crafty fag round the back of the Moor Farm changing rooms.  He's now on his list of not good people and must drink 20 espressos in an hour as contrition to get off the naughty list.  Until then his position will be taken by Waggers or Wash, who is without doubt in the top 20 most pants footballers I've seen pull on a Derby shirt.  He may even push out Fagin in my top 10.

I’d rather stand outside in this rain for 90 mins than watch that again

That's the normal bonus going too half the away grounds in this fab league.  I hope all those looking forward too visiting those new exotic locations 12 months ago are looking forward to a 3rd visit.
