Is this the Aussie countdown to midnight on New Years Eve 2024?
That's what you call a big night! 😲I know you guys like to be first at everything, but this is a bit OTT even for you guys!
Mate, this is for surviving camping new years. The week leading up were mid thirties and then New Year’s Day we copped over 300mm in 24 hrs.

Bloody Hell, DEVO were one if the first bands I ever saw live. City Hall Sheffield, 1978 or 1979 at a guess?
They held their own, they must be nudging 70 by now.

That's a very decent lineup! How was it?
I went to Download this summer and really struggled with the heat overall. Think it topped out at 30deg.
Great day out, hard to beat Spiderbait live. Must have lost a few kilos sweating and I’m sure my hearing will come back sometime today, ended up right at the front.

I think the system we have works well, only try scoring is subjected and only if the ref calls for a review. The ref has to signal try or no try and any doubt will go to the refs original decision. As well the captains can have 1 on field review and if successful retain that view. Get it wrong and no reviews left, same as cricket reviews. All reviews are broadcast on the screens and video refs are miked up explaining their decisions (extra revenue as reviews are sponsored by KFC)

Mid 30’s the last few days, the A/C is going just fine.

Problem for Australia is an ever shrinking interest in the game, which has resulted in an ever smaller player pool to select from. Small crowds at club level ,poor tv viewing figures resulting in little revenue from their media deals.
The game is getting slaughtered… caught up in the battle for supremacy between the AFL with their huge crowds and TV deal & the NRL with their huge viewing figures and TV deal.
Unions 25million TV deal is dwarfed by the one billion plus deals enjoyed by the AFL and NRL. Tonga and Western Samoa are now firmly under the NRLs spell and both codes are slowly eating into the games dominance in NZ.
It’s hard times for RU in the southern hemisphere currently….think of Rugby leagues position in the UK and then halve it, that’s pretty much were the game in Australia is currently,
Anyway dewch ymlaem Cymru, time to add to RU Australias nightmare decade
A survey last year put union at No42 on the list for participation between snowboarding and rowing. While rugby league is as big as it is, Oz will never be a major player in union.

As someone who is clueless about camping, what happens on a trip like the one in October? After you've woken up, what happens next? Do you have to dismantle everything until you've gone somewhere else? Or is it all in the same place? Assuming you can't lock a tent, do you just leave it unattended all day? See, I've genuinely no idea how it works 😀
I've got to my 60s, and have never been inside a tent (other than a huge marquee type thing). I've never been in a caravan either.
I should probably try it before knocking it. Well, I'm not knocking it as such. Just puzzled by it.
I can't imagine how much money I'd have to be getting paid to go camping, either on my own, or with anyone else, and especially my boss!
We hadn’t been camping for well over 30 years before we decided to do a 6000 km trip down south a couple of years ago. Our setup would have cost $500-$600 max and we absolutely loved it. Over the next 9 months we upgraded to a Zempire air tent and then decided to buy a small van that is setup for total off grid camping. We now go off somewhere just about every month. I would definitely recommend trying it, you meet some great people on the road.
Our first cheap setup

6 week UK trip booked for next year, leave Brisbane 28 April and 38 hours later land in Inverness. 3 days in Inverness then 7 days walking the Great Glen Way from Fort William to Inverness. Nothing confirmed after that but looking to stay somewhere around Derby for 3 weeks then head south.

Suggested the use of citations myself. Suspect 15 mins would be too draconian for football, but not allowing players to immediately re-join the game having spent 5 minutes rolling around holding their heads makes a deal of sense. Perhaps they could be excluded for as long as the break in play incurred?
It's not lost on me that quite a stark difference between the two sports is that a lot of footballers too much time pretending to be injured, whereas most rugby players (often to the detriment of their health) spend entire games pretending they are not.
Maybe 5 minutes so a doc can give the all clear. As long as there’s a free replacement for the time off the pitch would be fair in my opinion. The 15 minutes is the time it takes to get through concussion protocols. We have a independent doctor making the assessment.

Maybe rugby league’s mandatory 15 minute HIA assessment would change things. Player can be substituted as a free change and after passing HIA can come back into play.

Well done to the Tillies, first time into the semis.
