couldnt the fans crowdfund the £20m to OWN the stadium, then rent it the club for free but with tied in benefits, structured around season tickets and discounted hospitality /events

If fans want to TRULY be in control then owning the biggest asset is better than owning the actual club in some ways

Well you continue to see things with "Everything is Mel Morris fault" spectacles. If you take those special spectacles off you will see a lot more clearly.

    1) Nixon's claim is .. well Nixon for a start. Also contradicted by Kirchner himself who says that MM has lost control of PPS.
    2) Even taking Nixon's claim at face value the stadium is being offered at £20 million which is quite some discount to the independently assessed value of £81 million from 3 years ago.
    3) There are legal charges against PPS charged  against The Rams in admin (for the long lease) and against Gellaw (the freehold). So whoever buys either may have to discharge the amounts due to MSD under these loan agreements, or take on the debt themselves. Either way the amounts due to MSD will add to the cost of buying the Rams or PPS or both.
    4) Even so Qunatuma has said all the credible buyers including Kirchner wanted to buy PPS as well as the Rams.
    5) But  it may well be that MM whether by accident or design is now offering PPS to the buyers at no gain to himself, effectively offering his interest in it (if it still exists) for free.
    6) Quantuma has said Kirchner's bid was too low, and he has been out bid. Agreement in principle has been reached with MM and with MSD. So neither of them are holding things up. And who says any buyer has to buy PPS anyway?
    7) Agreement has not been reached (last time we had update from Quantuma) with Gibson or Couhig..  and Nixon appears to confirm that is still the case.  Can I suggest you direct your bile at these two parasites?

    Boo!
I did speak with Peter Morgan who had the job of trying to adapt the book for the film and said how difficult it was because in the book apparently (I've not read it as it was so despised by the Clough family) Brian is permanently drunk. Peter said he had to try to remove all of that. And that he hoped the family would be far happier with his version, but I've not heard if they commented on it.
Personally I'm not at all a fan of this weird genre called faction, where people like Peace make stuff up and then people read it and think it was true.

He's not allowed to cherry pick the creditors, to pay them off before he puts the club into admin.  By all accounts, he's also been very generous with charitable donations, but that's not relevant here, so ignore that bit!
None of us "had" to contribute to any whip round.  Think "Charitable donation(s)".
The club's debt to St John Ambulance still stands.  Nobody has paid that debt off.
There is no letter s... or an apostrophe... on the end of St John.
    Other than that...

If these claims do go to Arbitration, whether a LAP as per EFL rules or via the English Courts, the attempts the parties have made to settle the dispute by other means SHOULD have an influence.
IF the Administrators have genuinely been trying to reach a "no blame" settlement with the two clubs, but have been rebuffed unreasonably, that ought to count in Derby's favour if the tribunal decides that the two claimants have rejected reasonable offers. The Courts nowadays take a dim view of litigants who refuse alternative dispute resolution, such as mediation and I would hope that principle would apply in this case.

Well then, it seems pretty clear that Mel, channelling his inner Greg Wallace, did indeed eat my hamster, served up on a buttery biscuit base.  I agree with most posters that he made loads of mistakes but I still stand by my original point that administration wouldn’t have happened without the EFL retrospectively changing the rules, and then actively trying everything from delaying tactics, constant appeals and spin to get us where we are.  That and Covid.  I am willing to bet the loses posted by Bristol City are the tip of the iceberg and I am expecting to spend the rest of the season watching the EFL busily extending a helping hand to 23 overspending clubs while casually keeping their foot on the throat of ours.  David mentioned Mel writing a book, which would be interesting, but I think a lot of the actions of the EFL are in the public domain already and I’d hope one of the journos who cover the club had a bash at it.

I’d play the U23s in response to us having to field the U12s against Chorley last season.
The FA Cup for me was completely devalued last season and has no value for us at this point either. The league is the only thing that matters for us right now

I actually agree with a lot of what you've said there in relation to FFP. There is plenty of blame to go around for that, but the EFL should take plenty as there were ways in which the mess could have been sorted without constantly pushing for a points deduction. They also know the whole FFP thing is massively flawed, but still decided to make life as difficult as possible for us.  Even so, if FFP were the sum-total of our problems, we could've stomached the 9 point deduction and still have a reasonable chance of staying up.
The administration is a completely different thing and must be all down to Mel I'm afraid. Either he ran out of money (in which case he should've reined in spending earlier) or decided to stop providing the funding (in which case, while I understand it can't be much fun peeing £1m a month up a wall, he took on that responsibility when he bought us and with or without COVID allowed things to get this bad). Putting us into administration definitely confined us to League 1, probably means selling whatever few assets we have left, means we'll be struggling on a shoestring for years and, ultimately, puts the club at risk of going under completely and disappearing. That is completely unforgiveable.

I think its all too raw to be objective as yet. But I think Mel's main error was when he started to go with the invincible hype and think he was bigger than our club. Noone is and once you put yourself arrogantly above the parapet like that you generally make enemies who will want to bring you down. Once it got to that point neither he or those enemies had much thought for what it is really all about.... the existence of a founding member of the league, our lovely Derby County. Shame on everyone involved from Mel, those at the EFL, football analysts/writers and those at other clubs (prob not just the 2 more public ones). All are culpable to some extent but Mel seemed to lose his judgement and we have paid

When Mel went public with his intentions to sell, I made a suggestion, write an autobiography when this is all over, and I hope he does once the dust settles.
What happened, what was the tipping point that saw him pull the plug, how did we manage to rack up this huge debt to HMRC when Fawaz down the A52 was facing winding up orders every couple of months.
Whilst ultimately his decision cost jobs, left behind a lot of debt to local businesses, which I am a creditor myself, leaving the existence of this club in jeopardy, I can’t sit here today and lay all the blame at his door, of course he must accept his part in this, not suggesting for a second he completely blameless.
Being a long time supporter of Mel, I have largely avoided discussions around him as there are still questions that I feel need answering, more clarity of what went on, closure. It would be easy to sit here and call him all the names under the sun, but I feel like I owe him the opportunity to explain, I hope he does find a way as his final Radio Derby interview didn’t really explain anything we didn’t already know, no gaps in the timeline were filled, and it’s those gaps which have left so many questions.
Do not think I am here to defend Mel, only Mel can defend himself, I have no intention of getting into drawn out debates as it will only cause more anger and frustration when right now we should be focussing on the future of this club.
You can drag up posts from the past that I and others made, but they were made with the information that we had at the time, others that raised concerns, had their doubts whilst hurt may feel smug with “I told you so”, which is their choice. I have made my enemies just from running this platform, sure there’s a few out there finger pointing.
However Mel came in, spent money, created excitement and dared us to dream which is exactly what football fans want, we had no idea it was ever to be a poo or literally bust, we were led to believe that we were on the line, pushing it at times which many clubs do, but that line was dragged out of reach when the EFL decided to review our accounts over previous seasons, accounts which they signed off.
I still to this day believe that EFL, Boro and Wycombe must also take some responsibility in all this. I also don’t think we can just ignore the impact that Covid has had, both financially and personally. Mel did not have a crystal ball, for all this to come at a time when trying to sell the club placed a fuckload of barriers in the way.
Whilst you can argue you shouldn’t live life on the edge, be prepared for the worst, I have been around 40 years and this is the first global pandemic which has changed life as we know it and seen sporting events played behind closed doors. Over the next 12 months I’m sure we will see others start to show the impact that alone has had without the EFL on their backs.
His own health issues which remain private and may not have played no part in his decision, but many things happen in life that can make you question your own mortality, did his, was his primary concern his family where the outside abuse questioned his financial support? I honestly don’t know and not trying to manufacture excuses here, losing close friends, illness, it can and does make you question where you are yourself in life.
I don’t know if we will ever see a book, if some already feel they have closure and wouldn’t be interested or believe a word he says, I for one believe it would give closure those that supported him during his tenure and feel hurt with how the club has been left, all the memories which should have been left have now been tarnished, including the one at Elland Road.
Life does go on though, I'm not going to spend another day questioning why as another mental drain that I have no desire to entertain.

We are in administration. So either Mel has walked away when he could have provided financial support or he was spending money he could not really afford to lose. I don’t know which , but either way Mel has to take a lot of criticism.

Bur otherwise yes I agree there is an awful load of nonsense talked about Mel Morris. The same fate could easily have been befallen Aston Villa, Forest, Bristol City and so on. We have just been in the wrong place at the wrong time. Mel was trying to sell the club and the EFL rubbish happened and then COVID. That really was rubbish timing and I don’t think anyone could have predicted either of those happening

Not sure it has been all that different in my lifetime - most clubs have operated at a loss most of the time.  Where it is different is in the size of the numbers, from players and staff wages to cost of running stadia and training facilities, from income to the cost of watching.
Where it is hugely different is the disparity between the top few clubs and the lower majority caused by the unequal distribution of (largely) TV money. That unequal distribution is what has ruined football and made it the unequal contest it currently is. 60 years ago it was a much more equal contest that allowed dreams to be realised.  Now it is biased against anyone from outside a select group wanting to break up the cartel.
And where it is even more different  is in the competence at world, european and country level of football administrators. The people of vision, leadership and love of the game have been replaced by incompetent money men full of self interest. So it ain't going to change any time soon.

Neither have we been proven to have done anything wrong. We have accepted a punishment from Efl rather than fighting it. Boro would still have to prove that we did anything wrong. And prove many other things as well.. like how were they uniquely disadvantaged .  And we have already been punished for the alleged wrongdoing so they are looking for us to be punished twice over or more.

oh and the amount they are claiming is wildly inflated anyway even if they had lost out a guaranteed place in the Prem directly as a result of our wrongdoing with no one else to blame but us, compensation would not come to £50 million anyway.

They also said that after Kirchner’s hissy fit another bidder has raised their bid, so higher still.

Scenario: Kirchner pulls his bid, no other bids were close to the valuation asked by the administrators.
The administrators play for time by saying that a better bid than Kirchners exists and they are pursuing that.
If that's the case why hasn't the name been revealed.
I read that Appleby and Gadsby were seeking to team up as that's the only way they could get close to matching the valuation.
I also read a rumour that Jez Moxey was bidding but if that bid had the funds close to valuation surely we would have heard something.
I think the administrators messed Kirchner around for two long so that bid was lost.
Where exactly a new bidder is coming from I'm not sure.
Usually the journalists find someone to link with a club of our size but there's nothing in the press that I can find.
I'm not of the opinion that this is a mystery buyer since I think the press would have hinted at a name.
Now the Appleby and gadsby teaming up to meet the valuation concerns me, the administrators have named a price for the club and it don't appear to be in a position to change that valuation.
Even if Appleby and Gadsby cab reach the rumoured 50 million, exactly how much do they have left to rebuild the club.
I think the administrators are playing for time, and feel that they need honest and open communication with the fans rather than covering over the truth that no current bids have met the valuation.
If the club required 20 million to cover the debts, I think it's likely a buyer has bought the club by now.
