Weird analogy, especially when nothing has been decided for this season yet.
If those signings (which I agree some of which could have been avoided) get us promoted won’t they have added value?
Also, while Warne is part of the blame for recruitment, haven’t we told by Warne and others at the club on more than one occasion that recruitment is currently a committee process involving at least Warne, Thomas and Pearce? They’re all involved in the decision making process around the player and the finances, not just Warne.

Or, you could say, we are four points off top with a game in hand on the leaders. Depends how you view a half filled cup.

I don't think the budget will change much, but I think we'll be changing tact from high earners on a free (to fit in with the 'business plan'), to lower earners that cost a transfer fee...

In the summer we had one left back on the books in Forsyth and not a single right back or right wing back?
And you're sat there saying Ward and Elder weren't needed? Of course they were.
Elder has been unfortunate with injuries but I'm convinced there's a player there, just needs a run of games.
It's only in hindsight now we have Nyambe and Wilson in that Ward isn't needed.

There were several younger females in the 70s that would stand at the back of the Vulcan Street End, I started in the Kids Pen, Then moved to the Columbo End as a very young teen where me and my mate would climb up the corner near the floodlights and tie ourselves with scarves to the metal fence with the away supporters walking underneath us.
Getting older a move to the Vulcan Street was a must, With the red metal fence walkway seperating home and away fans, Many a suicide fan would jump them to have a close chat with the away fans, At the back of the Popside where a hot bovril was served there was no segregation and all hell would break loose at HT, A fence was later put up to seperate both waring factions, Then a portion of the Columbo and Vulcan street was segregated for the more normal fan, So home fans would enter the Columbo end to great the away fans, All cash turnstiles so no checking the fans, Eventually moving to the Ossie End after Chelsea and Leeds wrecking the seats fiasco, Then onto the more sedate "C" Stand Paddock ?.
As a football arena I don't think there was a more intimidating ground than the BBG, Away players who were going to take a corner at the "C" stand paddock area would often have a change of heart when scores of Lads got to their feet and hurl abuse at them, Away players would often have their shorts pulled on when taking a throw in, Or if you were a Fulham player...getting kicked/tripped, The Hunter/Lee fracas, Lee was initially punched... the reason...Lee was a master at tripping himsel up in the penalty area, Which he did when Hunter was chasing him down, Ref gave a Pen and we scored, Hunter bided his time, And got a good one in right on Lees nose, Ref sends them both off then the fun began with Lee throwing several punches and NOT one landing on Hunter, Only for Hunter to fall over, Word has it that Hunter refused to come out of the changing rooms until Lee had left the BBG.
For me, DCFC lost something when moving to PP, I bought a ST in the East stand, The view was great right in line with the 18 yard line, The Atmosphere was lost for me, It became more sterile, But I Lived with it I guess, As long as I have my memories I can always visit the BBG anytime I choose ?

Yes, but the reason that’s such an achievement is that they are specifically historically league winners. They should be winning leagues. The fact that they hadn’t was an underachievement. Winning the league is just standard to a scouser who grew up in the 70s.
Leicester are the kind of club who build statues when they win the league. But for Liverpool, winning the league isn’t enough by itself to make you a legend.
like if everyone who won the league with Chelsea had a statue, they could probably have a starting 11 of statues. For some clubs winning the league is just the bare minimum. You get sacked if you don’t win the league. Liverpool are one of those.

That's the thing, Liverpool weren't one of those for years until Klopp arrived. Yes, there were high expectations, but they were struggling to even get into the Top 4.
Tbf, it's all immaterial. It's the Liverpool fans who decide whether or not he's a legend, and they seem to be pretty unanimous.

I think they need to give it 20 years before considering a statue, if they win naff all in that time, yeah, build a statue.
They can put up the wayne rooney one any time they like.

But it sometimes feels they then fail to see or acknowledge there are some positives too?
I don’t deny there are valid concerns, never have, never will, but choose to look at the optimistic side of things. We do have good players, we do have a coaching staff that have won promotion from this league before so their experience could/should count for something, we are scoring goals, we are winning games, we have a good away record, the team (until recently due to injuries biting) look fit and able to compete for longer.
I’ll never get the apparent lack of balance I see in some people’s views but am at least (mostly) respectful of that, there’s good and there’s bad. I don’t see that our chances are harder or impossible at the moment, but that’s just my opinion.

Unfortunately, that’s the reality of where we are currently. People need to get a sense of proportion and get behind what we have currently. We have a chance of getting promoted and things improving financially but at this critical stage we need to show support, not be so highly critical towards the players, owner and staff.

    This is what was said by Clowes;
"Paul has been given a budget, I think a good budget for League One that is good enough to get us out of the league. But it's football and nothing is guaranteed."

Both Clowes statement that he thinks the budget is good enough to get us out of the league and Warne saying today we’ve been outbid by another club for a player can be correct. What are you looking for them to be correct about?
We are still within a very realistic position of earning promotion this season despite the lacklustre recent performances. Having a competitive budget for promotion whilst still apparently having limitations in line with the agreed business plan seems to be the reality the club is in from what little information is out in the public domain and has been reported on by the press.

As my dad would say, rest his soul: "You can only beat what's in front of you".
I understand that fans (including myself) want a better standard of football, but it simply isn't going to be that way. Most teams will do everything in their power to drag you down - and the standard of the league without Sunderland/Ipswich/Wednesday in it is lower than it has been in previous years.
I'll take a year of less than inspiring football if it gets us out of L1.

    Struggling with this one.
He will probably get 20 goals this season, but he's ok, no more than that? Literally every summer there is the demand for a 20 goal a season striker, then when we potentially have one, here we are.
Kinda is slating a 20 goal a season striker, calling them bog standard. He's only 3 goals off the top scorer in the league Devante Cole who has played 2 more games than him.
If Collins is as you say just ok and bog standard, how many goals would say a very good League 1 striker need to be scoring, even an excellent one?

I think your being a little harsh on him (although i agree on your point regards his heading), without him i think wede of struggled to be in the top six. Yes we need back up with Wash,JJ and Waggy always on the treatment table, but hes always available, works his socks off and has scored 18 goals so far. I don't think he misses anymore chances than anyone else. For me he has been one of the big plusses of the season so far.
