Ivy Square to the ground...at night time was fun, A Saturday afternoon walking back to town and many a home owner stood at their front door with a piece of 4x2, A cricket bat, Pick axe handle or the wife in curlers and an apron 😁
We had the time of our lives...now it's shopping at Asda fighting for deals in the whoops isle

🤣 Yeah right yourself. He’s gone out on loan to the club where he started his career, to play first team football, why does that imply it hasn’t worked out here? He joined the academy, he’s 19 years old, going out on loan is part of the development of young players isn’t it?
It genuinely amazes me how many people on this forum seem to default to the most pessimistic and negative stance on anything and everything

Back in the 70s. There was the Burton lot, Willington, Findern, Osmaston, Normanton, Allenton, Belper, Ripley, Ashbourne and all points north/south/east/west... all the "local" groups merged into one on matchday.

You may or may not be surprised on how many squaddies were involved in the above, Here's a story I was told by someone who was there, 2 Soldiers went over the border to Holland from Germany to watch a game, After the game they went into a Dutch bar...one where the girls sit on your lap and you pay for their service, They were hit with the bill...extortionate to say the least, They refused to pay and got a good hiding by the doormen, The next weekend 50 squaddies get on the coach and head to the Bar, Beers flowing until it was time to pay, They never paid, The bar was trashed along with the bouncers, The local police did nothing...which was a good idea.  Today I agree with the above in bold, At home imo you were fighting for your territory those who would come to your town/ground and try and take over, When England played over seas it was called "the English disease" by Politicians, Eventually the England fans became the whipping boys for the local police forces...for just being English.
And then you wonder why we finish bottom every year when we enter the Eurovision Song Contest 😉

Walk along Tissington trail near Parsley Hay. Completely litter free apart from every few yards little black or green bags of Doggy poo. On return walk of about a mile and half I counted 18. Who do they think is going to collect it all. Getting dog owners a bad name.

To call what it was as hooliganism is a little strange in this case, it was more like a mates disagreement over anything close to football rivalry and the drink takes over.

Punch up matchday buying each other a drink the next. Don't live too far from you even now but i am a Ripley lad born and bred.

16 at the time we saw West ham disappear from the other end so we sort of knew what was coming.
Still got to go home at some point and safety in numbers went down the stairs and got hit by a hail of bottles, my mate copped one and the shoulder and ended up in the nearest A and E for the night having to have his wounds stitched, his old man wasn't happy that he had to go down the next day to pick him up.
The miners were largely from Ilkeston and worked at Babbington colliery or Moorgreen having transferred from the Derbyshire pits after they closed.
My old man had worked with quite a few of them before deciding life underground wasn't for him.

The Ripley Derby/Forest lads would go drinking with each other before Derby/Forest games get p****d and then fight each other, it became a bit of a ritual in the 90's

In the 70/80's less so although you knew who each other were
