The football Rooney and Rosenior managed to have the team playing, and some of the results achieved, under the circumstances of having a squad comprising mainly youth players and veterans, was remarkable.
I'll go as far as saying that if we'd been allowed to extend Jagielka's contract, we'd have stayed up. Whether Rooney would have stayed on in that event is questionable, as is whether he would have been any kind of success had he continued, but dissing what he did that season is utterly churlish.

My best mate died of MND 18 months ago.
He lasted 6 years from diagnosis to death. His son watched him die slowly from the age of 9. Fuckin miserable.
You can't sugar coat it. Its horrendous, its the cruellest, most horrendous death you could imagine.

I remember Rooney trapping a ball like frozen nitrogen, a drop of the shoulder neat pass. Class. And a free kick against I can’t remember who, with Waggy playing daft lad, running the distraction; then the a perfect bender. GOAL.
But really  it was the “ole ole ole”…. us against the world. We lost ultimately but we were never even close to being broken. Wayne played a part in that. He’ll get a welcome from me when they come visiting that’s for sure.

Totally agree. He conducted himself well, imbued a fighting unified spirit in players and fans alike. That and a few flashes of old magic reminded us occasionally that he’d been some player in his pomp. I don’t think I have ever heard fans shout so loud in support when we went behind and were battered and bruised. 

He was a lovely man always had time for a chat and a laugh

Always believed Lampards game plan was to stifle Villa in the first half. Then catch them out in the second half with a couple of substitution and a change of formation five minutes into the second half. 
But the their goal before half-time messed that plan up.

Oh what a day.
Friends up for the weekend. A good walk, great pub lunch in the Yorkshire Dales, then back into Skipton for afternoon beers  watching the Leeds fans crying into their beers.

I've never heard a fellow Derby fan say anything but good about Lionel. He's extremely well respected and remembered for what he did for us, the Stadium, the Jim Smith years.
