Carlisle at home, we had won the league, in the Normanton lower, I was 15. 0-0, all on the pitch. It was going to be relaid so I took a piece from the centre circle.  Went to school on the Monday and persuaded my teacher help me preserve it.  50 years later and despite me living all over the world I've still got it.  Magical times.

At 61, my life is very much geared to a happy/successful retirement... Marriage and hobbies in particular, but also health, social life, family etc.
The problem for me lies solely on the financial side.  All the above can only continue with my current income (and a bit of savings), so I really don't envisage retiring any time soon!
(House is basic at best, but has been long paid for, and tidy enough, so we have that security at least, I guess.)

I was always very blasé about private pensions etc... In truth, with my family history/genes, I truly didn't expect to be here this long!  (Both mum & dad failed to reach their 50's!).  Just my luck I'm as fit as a fiddle!  🤣

Hey.  I'm very much a "Take each day as it comes/what will be will be" kind o' guy, and that ain't gonna change now, so I'll plod on, and see what happens.

Best of luck to all of you who have retired recently and/or are about to.
I won't call you lucky, as I'm sure you've earned it, but I won't deny there's a teeny bit of envy/regret creeping in now I'm almost "at that age"! (But only on this subject... no regrets elsewhere!)
    Enjoy... yer owd buggers!  😁🍻

3 more days for me and then I'm done; giving it all up at 58 so a fair few years early.
Any tips and advice from those that have done it? I've worked full time since I was 16 so I know it's going to be life changing but unsure what to expect!

O'Brien shows how the UK has been infiltrated and Silent Coup shows how the World is controlled by the same organisations. I haven't quite finished Silent Coup yet but the situation is far worse than you first think.
Its depressing tbh, they have that much power its impossible to see a way to stop it. Democracy is a sham, the big parties here and in the US are completely controlled by the same people.
The next stage is Freeports/SEZ's in the UK. Over 80 of these already planned or started. Vast areas of Britain will be privately owned and run outside of UK Law. Working rights, Human rights, environmental rules - all gone, funded by taxpayers for private gain of huge corporations.

Cynical people might surmise that the US doesn't want too much disruption to Iranian oil supplies right now because Russia would fill the gap and benefit financially or prices would soar.
Thats why Israel and Iran are only tickling each other atm.

There is a big difference in law between saying "it’s like a mafia gang statement" to saying something like "Evangelos Marinakis is in a mafia gang". No one with any legal knowledge would advise them to take that to litigation, its just meant to have a chilling effect on critics.
The only other explanation is that fatty is indeed in the mafia.

Or, of course, it could be the fact that nobody outside of West Bridgford is in any way arsed about a couple of marginal decisions and no one has really paid attention to the clubs faux intimidating tantrum

The irony of all this talk of corruption seems entirely lost on the Gumpies. Burn a bakery, buy a judge, intimidate and buy off juries, arrange for a few witnesses to have accidents, that's all fine apparently, but deny them a decision in a game of footy and they completely lose their collective minds. Then again, given how they mithered and wailed over a chicken balti pie, it's not entirely unexpected.

@Archied Forum regulars will know that for some of us there is more riding on Saturday than securing the points for promotion. It feels very much a tribute to those who aren’t here who have stuck with DCFC through thick and thin.

I’m really excited as I haven’t seen a DCFC promotion. When I last held a season ticket Derby were in the Premier League. I can’t imagine just how excited Daniel would be right now, but I bet he would be saying “I told you they would do it”
I’ll be thinking of you and your dad on Saturday ❤️🐏

Fantastic posts. @Archied really got me thinking. Football fandom is a very social thing. I try not to miss a single game, but celebrating goals and victories or suffering losses on my own just isn't the same. Fortunately a couple of friends texted me last week to say that they were coming to my home next  Saturday to watch the game with me and help me celebrate. At first I thought "well, ok", but now I'm really excited about it. Having friends with me (I'll also be thinking about my dad who left us two years ago) will make it so much sweeter. @B4’s Sister, I'm sure you and your family will shed a few tears at the final whistle knowing how your brother would be feeling. Let it all out, he deserves it.
And please, please, please Derby, don't 🦆 it up.
