Millenniumram got a reaction from RadioactiveWaste in El DerbyCo
Very easy to say that based on his reputation, but I really don’t think any footballing person wants to see a club go out of business. Football is one community.

I think he probably does, yes. Rivalry aside, no one wants to see any football club go under - think of the impact on the community. I hate Forest as much as the next man, but would I want to see them go out of business? Absolutely not, that rivalry is a big part of both clubs, wouldn’t be the same without it.
I’m not saying you should trust 100% everything people say on Twitter, that would be foolish, there’s plenty of attention seekers out there like big bad bazza. But you have to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, at least initially imo, and take note of what they say. Of course we’ve had other sources like Alan Nixon come out and say we’re not in any serious trouble right now, so maybe that’s true, none of us know for certain. I’m not saying we’re definitely going out of business, but any discussion of it is concerning to me at least. Now I’m no fan of Collymore, but I don’t think he’s on there attention seeking - he’s making a point about the dangers of having one man running a football club (and I agree with him on the suggestion of making it a maximum of 49% share per individual). You can blindly dismiss him if you so wish, but I don’t trust Mel enough to do that. I have little faith while he’s still in control of the club.
For what’s it worth, I’m not saying he’s not a true fan because things didn’t work out. Have no problem with him trying his best and failing. I’m criticising him for things not working out and then him abandoning the club, leaving someone else to sort out his mess. A true fan for me is someone who cares about the future of the club. Mel hasn’t shown himself to be that when he agreed to sell the club to Shiekh Khaled and Erik Alonso.

No he has crippled himself financially, the money is owed to him, if I was Mel I would want to escape from this baying mob ASAP

Do you believe that Collymore genuinely gives a duck about what happens to Derby? It doesn't really read as anything to me. But we've all seen people randomly make stuff up on the internet before and football fans are awful for just going along with every rumour, I seem to remember many on here believed Barry the ram. East Midlands today said nothing like what Collymore did. I don't really care whether you like or dislike Mel, saying he isn't a true fan because things didn't work out is just unfair. What is a ''true fan'' anyway, and who gets to police it?

Our record when we’ve gone behind is absolutely pathetic, as soon as we concede a goal the whole team just collapses and falls apart. The result isn’t even in doubt at that point, the opposition barely have to do anything as we will just hand them the game on a plate. The mentality within this squad is simply unacceptable. A lack of fighting spirit is a huge reason why we find ourselves in our current position - you can’t expect to compete if you give up as soon as something goes slightly wrong. Frankly it’s embarrassing, and this disgrace of a squad and management team deserve to go down. Shameful.

Why is it concerning? Why are you assuming a.) Collymore actually has any sources within Derby and b.) he's not just winding up fans who don't like him? I personally won't treat anything Collymore says with any credibility whatsoever. Questioning whether he is a ''true fan'' is complete nonsense too. Having a blue checkmark on Twitter certainly doesn't mean you know anything.

Wouldn't be the first time that Collymore has tweeted something to rile up Derby fans. Do you not find it strange that he deleted it just as quickly as he wrote it?

If you believe Stan Collymore’s tweet then you have to also consider Alan Nixon’s tweet.

Not going to lie that Collymore tweet is very very concerning. I said in other thread earlier that I was still very concerned about the prospect of administration given our off the pitch issues, this is going one step further. We might not even have a club to support if things carry on the way they are, yet alone a League One team! Things could still get a whole lot worse...
Mel has well and truly ducked us over. Makes a total mess of running the club, then leaves someone else to clear up his mess. Given up on us when we needed him most to save the club from potential collapse. Not what a true fan would do imo.

Happy 46th Anniversary, everyone!

26th April 1975.
46 years ago today, at the gullible age of 12, I attended my very first pro football game...
It was Derby County v Carlisle Utd, and was a drab 0-0 draw, albeit in glorious sunshine, and albeit being played... and watched... in surprisingly high spirits.
I was all ready for trundling home at the final whistle... then this happened... and being that aforementioned gullible pre-teen, I became instantly hooked on Derby County FC...
?
EDIT:
Just realised...
Technically, I'll be in that photo, as we were sat in the Normanton wing of The Ley Stand! Never realised that before, despite seeing the pic numerous times over the years! How cool is that! ??

What makes you say the Sheikh was done in a day? We heard about him passing the test and the club released a statement the same day but the is no indication of when they first started the testing process. Also, as mentioned already, Birch is now in charge of the test whereas he wasnt around during the Sheikh fiasco.

Yeah good point, hopefully he will make the checks much stricter - we don’t want any more situations like Wigan. If the EFL stop the takeover bid, believe me that’s good news.

Pretty much exactly what I feared RE the EFL fit and proper test. Seemed to be taking much longer than I’d expect ( think even Sheikh Khaled was cleared in a day and he didn’t have a penny!) so something is clearly up. I suspected that Alonso was being coy about his potential backers because there might be something dodgy about them, and it seems that is indeed what the EFL are investigating. Given it’s gone on this long, I’m starting to think they’re actually going to turn him down, which is almost unprecedented for the “fit and proper” test! Probably good news as I wouldn’t feel this club is in safe hands with a man associated with Matt Southall, but equally it’s not in safe hands with Mel. He’ll sell to any charlatan who makes an offer, so God knows who the next bid will be accepted from!

Trevor Birch has joined the EFL since then and is overseeing the process. He wouldn’t have been involved with the Khaled bid. Hence it will be much more thorough than ever before which is what we want surely?
