No, his style is not for me, tbh, Curtains.
But I listened to him and thought about what he said.
Whether I like him personally or not isn't important,  it's what he can get the team to produce on a football field that is.

A couple of obvious points so far: Warne has admitted to mistakes in the January transfer window, not watching enough club games which aren't involving our first team, and not using enough academy players last season.
It was obvious to almost every fan that we needed more depth last season. Woth the small squad and no signings, it should have been obvious to use the academy too. Only for him to state in the summer that the squad suffered from burn out.
On the evidence so far this season, he hasn't learned from those lessons.

I am not answering the poll because it's too black-and-white for me. There are elements of the Paul Warne philosophy that I like. Speed in the transition from defense to attack and a level of physicality to go with it. I do think it's important to split formation and 'philosophy' up, because you can have a single philosophy and multiple formations that work alongside it.
There were spells last season that I really enjoyed, when the players were played in a formation that suited them and applied the philosophy Warne wants. It coincided with our best run of form, I definitely enjoyed that.
What I don't enjoy is when Warne plays a formation that the players are ill-suited to, or not coached well enough to execute (probably a bit of both). The philosophy ends up being reduced to kick-and-rush football with no shape, pure chaos, and the results reflect that.
Unfortunately, this season we have seen mostly the latter. I hope Warne is pragmatic enough to notice and make the changes needed. Time will tell. If he can't replicate the kind of form we hit at times last season he'll be gone by this time next year.

Again, I don't want to come across as Bertie Big Balls, but as a club, in this division we shouldn't be cowering to other teams.  But surrendering the lions share of possession to the likes of Peterborough & Bolton smacks of a small club mentality.

Alright I'm gonna be blindly positive and assume that there's been a chat over the international period, the 3-5-2 hoofball is getting ditched and we're moving to a back 4 playing the high intensity attacking football Warne promised when he arrived. We'll thump this lot 3-0, win the league at a canter and we'll all be wearing bobble hats as we lift the league trophy at PP in April. You heard it here first. COYR.

Stevie Howard would be perfect for Warne's system. He'd get about 30 goals at this level.

The optimist in me thinks that the players of value will only stay if we’re in the championship so the club know there is no point negotiating yet. The rest of the players might not be good enough for the step up but they’ve done a job to get us off the bones of our backside.

I look at that list and I certainly only want 6 resigning: Thompson, Waggy, Sibley, Cash, Bird and Fozzy. Perhaps Barkhuizen at a push.

I hope TJJ signs permanently to replace Collins, Fornah replaces Smith, we need 1 or 2 options that can play wider up top to replace NML and TB (if he goes).

I’d then hope that our recruitment side have identified a number of young, high potential, reasonable cost players to bring in and freshen up the oldest squad in this division. Use compo from Cash and Bird to get in 2 or 3 decent players coming into their prime and then do a Sunderland. Get young exciting players and hope we can sell them on in a couple of seasons reinvesting in more exciting young players.

Assume a third of players will work out well, a third will be decent squad options and a third will not make the step up but build relationships with a league 2 club (Mansfield???) for loaning these players to to get them in the shop window/give them a chance.

We need to have a long term vision for our recruitment strategy and then ensure managers/head coaches agree to that philosophy before joining us.

The club doesn’t rely on one man to make any of it all work from players through to coaches through to recruitment staff because we set a blue print.

The ideal for me: Derby county will get themselves to the championship by hook or by crook and then will build a competitive side of academy graduates, exciting young players and 2 or 3 experienced free transfers to help the squad develop. We might not get in the play offs but it’d be exciting to watch and eventually you’d hope we could hang on to enough of them to have a real push.

The only way Warne wins me over is an attempt to go back to that sort of hybrid. Players willing to play the ball around and control profession but with a directness required at times that wasn’t there say under Cocu.
We are more dangerous at set pieces than I remember us being in the last decade or so. Beyond that I don’t think I can find another positive? I think what Warne wants football to look like and what he’s producing with us aren’t the same thing which at least means I don’t think he is delusional but ultimately it is his job to make his ideas happen on the pitch.

Not quite sure what your point is about Plymouth.
Their first four league matches as you say they lost two, but they’d also won two.
After the first match in Sept (Derby away) they’d played 7, won 5 and lost 2 in the league including wins against Bolton, Peterborough and Derby.  Their next defeat was in December including a run of 15 league matches unbeaten. Two defeats in their first twenty games.
Personally………..I’d love a stuttering start like that! 👍
