  1. When season tickets come out I wonder if it will have what happens when covid continues to intervene with fixtures - for example Derbyshire cricket today being abandoned due to one player testing positive and most of the squad having to self isolate, let’s say there will be 30,000 people due to attend Derby /Forest in August but the game is postponed early on the Saturday morning due to a player being positive affecting the whole squad and bearing in mind if we do have 100,000 a day testing positive as is expected - I can only see a big mess coming - sadly - unless there is a better way?

  2. So to recap we fail to pay one period of players wages on the day due so we get 3pts deduction suspended for a year

Sheffield  Wednesday fail to pay 4 periods of wages due 6pts deduction with 3pts removed by Christmas and the other 3 points carried over until June

so there we have it the new settled standard for the EFL - consistent isn’t it ???

meanwhile despite being unable to pay one months wage payment ( on time) the EFL are happy to take £100,000 of us whilst wanting to relegate us and take a further guaranteed £6 million of us on top.

  3. I think it’s best to move payday away from bank holidays it seems just to be safe.

does this just relate to players ? - so we can choose instead not to pay other staff ? Whilst I am not being serious it is a possibility isn’t it?

    I’ll try again.

Defending is primarily about decision making and positioning. That’s the reason most good defenders who are physically not giants tend to see their best football as they get older. I do t know who the 2 full backs you’re referring to are but my bet is they are 25+?

Festy at 18 would struggle with both of those areas at the moment in among league footballers as a full back. It’s not a problem. As he ages he’ll learn how and where to position himself to avoid getting caught under the ball and losing out to more experienced players.

It’s not really an opinion more a matter of fact that teams tactically will identify areas of weakness to exploit. An 18 year old full back who is 5’9” in most leagues will be exploited for his arial ability (or weakness of) I’m not saying the target man will play left wing but he will drift into areas to be hit by longer balls where he has most chance of winning them. Just as someone who’s quick will aim to play off the slowest centre back! I’m not saying he won’t be in the box at all. Think of it this way….an alternative would be to use your right winger and instruct him to aim crosses to the far post for the target man not the near post so that the smallest defender is caught having to defend that area against your tallest player!

Rochdale last season scored goals for fun, but they were relegated because they couldn’t defend. They took Haydon Roberts from Brighton on loan who is the same age as Festy and similar size. Haydon is an England age group international abs played for BHA first team….He played 26 times for Rochdale and they conceded 49 goals in those games, at one point averaging 3/4/5 a game. I’m not saying it was all Haydons fault but he was targeted due to his size and lack of experience.

I rate Festy! This isn’t an attack on him at all. He’s going to be some player. However defensively at the moment he’d get torn apart on that basis and is maybe why he was used in a more attacking role when he was used?

We don’t know who will struggle and who will excel that’s football and one of the most exciting things to look forward to next season

Can work both ways...we get a poor start, Wazza has a record of 1 win in 22 say (no wins in our first 6 games), some fans might start getting on his back...and the team.....

I think most fans know the situation and who needs positive support

Not photo related, but Wayne said the team are going down South for a training camp, anyone have any idea how far down South they mean? I'm on the South Coast, so might try and see them train if it's fairly close!

    Thanks.

    Loughborough ?

I think if we submit the overdue accounts we come out, however, I can imagine the EFL being very keep to slap back down if they think there is anything to charge us with in the accounts.

I would have thought we would need to submit all of the five years outstanding - three that are to be re-done and the last two

He had a blinder in our home game against them last year. Made some really big saves to stop us going 2/3 nil up...

It never bodes well for players we sign when they play well/score against us haha

Actually there are plenty who have done just that and been great signings for us but folks tend to remember the negative ones.

Jagielka is 39 in August. Surely we are not actually going to offer him a contract!

We gave Ibe one and I didn’t think he would play just by looking at him whilst Jagielka is a completely different and good option both for us and him, I would assume he is back living in Sheffield ( if he ever left) so a fairly easy commute for him.

  10. We need centre half’s so we are looking at some !
Jagielka was at a premiership club last season and has always been a very decent player - we need to head the ball away in the championship and he can do that - no risk short term signing - different player different time but remember Paul McGrath - he couldn’t run couldn’t train but he could certainly defend!

As for stearman - well he is experienced so let’s take a look.
