I agree, but you have to also realize, not everyone is built the same. Some people can eat what they like and never put an ounce on, some, obviously like Rooney only have to look at a kebab and they'll put a stone on 😄

You make very good points and very level headed answer but one point I am not entirely sure about is his level of dedication. Rooney is a year younger Ronaldo and the same age as James Milner. Talent wise on a par with the former in my eyes but dedication wise not even on a level of the latter, never mind Ronaldo. This may have prevented him reaching the very pinnacle of the game. Even in his prime, every time he came back from injury in his playing day he was always a tad heavy and took a bit of time to get back to an ideal weight. Successful sportsmen and women live more or less a monastic life, this is complete and utter dedication to their sport, I am not convinced he had that in him and that he did do that. I cannot remember if it was a pre season or during covid that he came back to Moor farm and there were photos or videos of several player but none of Wayne. Rumours are he came back looking rather rotund, Jan Molby like, and the media department had to hold off publishing material of Wayne’s return to the training ground.

One thing that consistently irritates me is how little fans talk of Lionel Pickering. Folks often talk about the great Jim Smith years (really our last glorious period) but they would never have happened without Lionel.
We also forget that Pride Park was also Lionel’s dream and vision - and he paid a good chunk of his own money to make it happen. In fact one really has to wonder why it wasn’t and isn’t called the Lionel Pickering Stadium.
Lionel in many ways reminds me of David Clowes albeit the latter is a more business-headed person. Lionel was a lovely man- maybe a bit gullible when he listened to everyone throwing their own advice and opinion in his ear at the pub……but a real Rams man.
Crikey, if there was one person who deserves a statue at Pride Park then it’s him.
(I would also like David Clowes to have the Club build a museum at the ground).

Leclerc and Ferrari win, Leeds lost, and to a lesser extend, if only Man City could have done it yesterday what a great w/e it could have been. Still, happy with that

Just seen the lap 1 events.
Magunsson v Perez is probably more racing incident than anything but more on K-mag than checo, there wasn't really the space to be there and what spece there was was going to vanish and certainly there was no move on, but both of them should've had better awareness and both still been racing.
Esteban, well, the great Senna said "if you no longer go for a gap, you;re no longer a racing driver" I guess the less great Ocon can comfort himself with "if you no longer go for a gap that isn't there, you're no longer Esteban Ocon". Hopefully the Ocon and Gasly best friends club can finally combust into the kind of drama I've been waiting 2 years for.
