    Slaughtered?

I watched it last night and Hislop definitely made it awkward for him and he looked uncomfortable, but I'd hardly say he was slaughtered.

On a side note, Richard Madeley was literally the worst guest I have ever seen on the programme. Did he even know it was meant to be satire.

It's not Talksh!te is it? Red Nev couldn't really reply, could he? He normally has plenty to say but Hislop just nailed him right and proper. There is a 3rd way Gary, don't take the money and denounce the regime etc..

    Nice and simple.

I don't get all this BBC is special, no it isn't. It's just another TV service. I object to being forced to pay for something I don't want. If it was so good let people pay for it on a subscription basis or introduce advertising.

I can understand historically why a TV license made sense. All the infrastructure had to be paid for and it was only fair that those using it paid for it. Times have changed and the BBC is a dinosaur of an organisation.

I love British TV me and especially the beeb - says the frenchman - I get french TV and it is sh!te, most of it. The equivalent of MOTD is 1 a hour program on a Sunday morning. 20 mins of adverts. For several years TF1 did not show any goals from ligue 1 cos they hadn't bought the rights, I am not making this up, a MOTD with no goals or matches highlights. Amazon Prime have got the rights now and sold them highlights but they still don't show all the goals all as it would cost them too much and there isn't enough time for all the adverts. When France are playing, half time analysis is 14 mins of adverts solid followed by a 30 secs "detailed" analysis of the first half by Deschamp. By this I mean 1 question and answer from the on field reporter " Didier, what did you make of the 1st half?"

I used to work/travel abroad quite a lot. No foreign TV gets anywhere near British TV and this is mostly due to the beeb setting a very high standard -  as mentioned in my previous post.

Be careful what you wish for.

Makes me laugh when people slag-off the BBC.

Try working away overseas for a fortnight and put-up with the dirge that is non British TV in your hotel.

This. Said it on here many times, anybody,  the beeb sets the standard - TV and radio - and all the other broadcadters have to bebloody good as well to compete. The net result is best TV anywhere by a mile. Anybody who thinks otherwise should be forced to watch foreign TV, it is mostly rubbish.

  4. Just watched BBC news and one of news items mentioned that the price of Gas is now down a third from its peak yet we are still talking about prices going up further. I understand about forward pricing etc. but am i missing something here ?

Just catching up with the latest episodes of Welcome To Wrexham and noticed a certain like Daddy's boy on the bench for them.  Wonder if his old man has been pissin & moanin at Ryan Reynolds why his lad hasn't started any games??

Which episode is that? I am also watching and at episode 12 or something.

I am enjoying it but those 2 guys really had no idea what they bought, it might as well have been a train set to play with. It would have been cheaper...

  6. We need to show gress.

I'll explain. When i started work many years ago an old head said to me, where are we up with the project ? I said same as last week, it hasn't moved an inch. He said, listen lad, management want to see gress, that is progress or regress, but preferably the former. If we tell them nothing has moved they'll be asking questions and think we've done fack all, all week.

Warne knows how to get out of this league, it may not be very pretty but he's shown it works. Assuming the players get it, you are right, we've got enough to compete for top 6. If they don't get it, it could the wrong kind of gress before he gets the personnel to turn it around.

Matches between big teams are only meaningful if they've proved that they are the big teams by winning against the other teams.

That is how competitive sport works right?

His problem is the PL. In Spain there are 3 big teams and that is it, same applies to French and German league, Italy less so but still not as competitive. Forest spent more than Real Madrid i think.

The PL spent more in the August transfer window than all the top european leagues combined. When in France, friends and family always ask about the PL and getting tickets, in fact they watch it more than than Ligue 1. The PL is the ESL and he wants a slice of it.

There seems to be a theme emerging

GERMANY - Inflation hits 10%, up from 7.9% in August.

It hasn’t looked like this since WW1. Global policies of lockdown, lockout and Net Zero are destroying economies and lives. As predicted by all those who were ignored, vilified and censored ( including on here)

After lockdown/pandemic there was a (dhort) period of growth where people went out and spent money saved as they couldn't do naff all. The real reason for the turmoil is the war. Not just any war, some places have been fighting for years with little geopolitical impact. This one though affects a major oil and gas producer attacking a major agricultural producer. That is the reason for inflation.

Oh and add a little bit of greed/speculation too and there you have it double digit inflation.

    Just like that.

He was only obeying orders, eh?

Obviously he was useful to both the administration and the new ownership, but I'm not sure I'd completely excuse of dismiss his responsibilities under the Morris regime.

Have to trust the Clowes ownership if they're keeping him in post for now, and, obviously by doing so, they're not concerned by previous actions.

This. If as a Chief exec he did not know that amortisation, stadium ownership, looming administration, unwinabble court cases etc... was all very dodgy/reckless/borderline - take your pick or the lot - then I and many on this forum are well qualified to do the job too. May be he's just happy to pick up a fair wedge whatever is going on

Where we’re you 7 years ago? I had a business doing exactly this, combining travel experiences with F1 tickets around the world.

it was all very exciting for a while. We did some amazing trips for the Brazilian GP.

Now that would have been one to do! I started going again in the past 2 years when my lad got interested after watching DTS as the OP said not the cheapest sport to follow round...

Any tips on a European one to go to next?
