Not as far as I can see. That is the whole problem in a nutshell. No opposition. All our major political parties are pretty much aligned on the big issues. A genuine opposition party could make a great case of reducing standing charges, if only we had one.?

The other thing I don't get is no other European country were facing price increases like the UK, pre government t intervention. We might still do anyway. We are also told that the price increases are driven by prices set internationally, so should not be vastly different, should it?

What I do know is the French government have told EDF and GDF to limit their price increases to 4% as they are nationalised. The retail part of EDF selling electricity in the UK can do as they want.

i havent ever seen a striker as scary as him

there has always been strikers you fear but you feel like you could stop them. how do you stop him? he is quicker both physically and mentally than everybody and he has only just turned 22.

as srg says the only thing that will stop him is injuries

The original Ronaldo, Gert Muller, Romario,  Messi and the other Ronaldo in their prime were 40 goal plus a season. Benzene isn't doing too badly either. The thing about Haaland is he's going to get a lot of chances with those players around him

    Hi

getting electric car. I think there are charging points in car park A at the stadium. Assuming I can still book that car park please does anyone know if the EV charging points are usually used on match days or if they generally are free? Thanks

I am not sure which one is car park A but I walk past the one at the back of the south stand near the vaccinodrome and these are usually taken. Never really paid much attention to see they are always full but there are cars plugged in there. Hope it helps...

I love Charles, and I want Ferrari to be better, but this latest is just so "things that can only happen to Ferrari"

It was recorded and watched it to the end to see what happened to Charles. When they called him in and he got  back in behind Alonso I thought typical Ferrari but then when I saw the penalty for speeding, I just couldn't believe it. They find saw many ways of messing up, it's impressive

  5. I remember when working for an IT firm in Derby 30+ years ago, there was this young lad on a computer in the corner and we had no idea what he was doing. Then someone said I think he is connected to the internet, we still had no idea and really weren't interested. The rest as they say is history and I am at work on an internet forum. Still no idea what i am doing at work mind you.

  6. Good idea but unless you are thinking about this as a business venture i am wondering if anybody has approached the club about resurrecting the Roadrider in some form or another. Now that we are on a more stable footing the club might be thinking about this a bit more favourably. Good luck anyway.

  7. What a player, headed everything, read the game brilliantly but for me it is his composure and touch which is most impressive for a young player at this level. A couple of times Barnsley played long balls over this head he turned around sprinted and brought it down under control no problem. Not an easy skill when you got a forward on your back trying to get to the ball. So glad he resigned.

Are Bassini or Alonso still looking for a club to buy ???   those  2 and Bristol City deserve each other

Steady on we don't want to move to fast by skipping straight to Alonso. Let's start with the Swiss guy who ended up in jail, then let them play with the fake sheik, then Alonso then Kirchner/Quantuma. It is marathon not a race

    In other F1 news,

Red bull had exploratory talks about bringing back Vettel when he left Ferrari. I can only imagine that going something like "Hey Seb, did you ever want to be Mark Webber?"

And the interest in just who is going to have piastri in their car continues with apparently talks going on with McLaren as well as alpine saying he's under their contract.

Seems McLaren are making a lot of not very subtle "yeah, Danny isn't going to be in the car next year" moves without actually saying "Danny's not going to be in the car, we can't afford to have him losing us the points each weekend"

Oh,and fans in Hungary wearing max Verstappen gear were burning Lewis Hamilton merch. Classy. Obviously Max has condemned it. He might not be my favourite driver (however undoubtedly talented he is) but yeah, it's not nice and he knows that.

But, given how ruinously expensive F1 merch is, surely a bit silly?

    Not always...

As we left the French GP my lad wanted to buy a cap as a "souvenir". The stands were packing so i though we might get some discount, we asked and they said 10% of a 60EUR cap. I tried to confuse the young lad told him that must be EUR44.60 then, he smiled and said nice try, grabbed the credit card machine, it was a bit dusty and with sun in his eyes typed in the amount.. when he handed it over to me it said EUR 5.40. My lad wanted to look a bit more for bargains I told him we are off quick!

I am pretty sure they still make a profit on 5.40! Robbing barstewards
