Might be an unpopular opinion but if the takeover all goes smoothly then I hoping we go about things differently.

The successful model applied by the majority of successfully promoted clubs involves a football director who overseas a team that delivers recruitment based on the clubs blueprint for success. The idea behind this is that if the manager leaves or is shown the door you are not left with a group of players that the next manager doesn’t want so you have to start out all over again, you need to be able to keep consistency if a piece of the cog is taken out of the club.

Whether finances will allow the club to run like this I don’t know

Why would players recruited by a football director be any more likely to approve of a new manager?

  2. So the EFL do have discretion regarding the applying of a further 15 points deduction. From the Derby Telegraph this morning:

“If there is to be a further points penalty, when will it be?

The EFL's insolvency policy says: "Such deduction to take effect at a time to be determined by the Board in its absolute discretion but ordinarly at the commencement of the Season following the Season in which the Insolvency Event occurred."

  3. On RD last night an ex solicitor was categoric in saying that the MFC/WWFC claims ,which are against DCFC as a club, could not be dealt with at the High Court because it would have to be our club contesting the claim , an individual club director cannot be sued in these circumstances. Later in the programme, a current solicitor phoned in and effectively said there is no problem , what MM is offering is to indemnify DCFC should the claim go against it. Richard Kramer, a partner at Front Row Legal, specialist sports solicitors ,was interviewed by Radio Derby this morning. He confirmed the view of the first solicitor and stated that the claims would have to be settled by arbitration. Having reread MM’s statement, it doesn’t seem to me that it represents an offer to indemnify the club, it merely invites MFC/WWFC to seek recourse against him personally  through the High Court. So, assuming arbitration is the only way to go, does anyone know if  arbitration has actually commenced? Richard Kramer’s view is that the result of arbitration will be that an award will be made to MFC/WWFC but would be nowhere near the amounts being claimed and would be a small sweetener so that all three clubs could claim victory. The way things are, I would take that outcome

Unless I have misread the above, the arbitration panel will pass judgement on both the merit of the claims and the issue of whether Middlesbrough and Wycombe would be football creditors. There will be no appeal but the case can go legal if either side are unhappy with the judgement.

The situation is dire but Appelby never had the funds when GSE owned us

Appleby’s company is effectively an estate agency dealing in football clubs. It pairs potential investors with clubs for sale so what matters is who are the money men behind the Appleby/Rush bid. It has been rumoured to be a hedge fund or private equity investors. If that is true then it is a little surprising that they cannot “pay the bills” as part of a takeover, let alone invest in building the team. I like the CK bid but nothing that I have seen on the internet tells me that he personally has the funds, although the administrators are satisfied that he has.

Apologies if this has already been posted elsewhere but the restrictions being placed on the club just reek of bloody mindedness and vindictiveness. There is a salary cap for next season, a limit of 25 professionals, and  no loan or transfer fees to be paid. The salary for each  new signed will be capped and the amount has to be agreed by the EFL. Talk about sticking the boot in.

But it seems Kirchner is in cahoots with Rooney. Do you think anyone who is not supported by Rooney will now pay enough to cover admin costs, MSD, football creditors and 25 of unsecureds ? Don’t know the answer btw

I’d think that if we’re in league 1 Rooney’s contract will need to be renegotiated, because 32 will surely back out

Not sure how you arrive at that conclusion- working in cahoots with means making secret plans with. I would suggest that if Rooney doesn’t want to work with the new owner then the new owner will find someone else who will.

  8. Could someone please clarify the effect of Administration on future transfer dealings. I am under the impression that the club will be subject to a 2 year transfer embargo of some sort.

I think a settled Ravel and Jags will certainly sign a 6 month extension. This project is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Ravel Morrison may have found his base to express himself and along with our unity as a club (management, players and supporters) its an appealing project to be part of and a no lose situation for them both

Morrison is on a 12 month contract so , January transfer window permitting, we have him for the full season

  10. Thanks to Ollycutts - a very speedy and accurate summary of the press conference. The bit he missed because of the noise level was that there is a “distinct possibility” of a further points deduction. To me, that was the only downside from a very positive press conference.

I've put a thread up to check our glorious run to safety..all a but muddy until we get a final score for deductions..I was thinking 16 will be the minimum based on Mels comments..that means without the deduction we will need a maximum of 67 to be safe..so 51 net...that is achievable if we get taken over before we lose our manager and players..

Why are you thinking 16 points discussion based on Mel’s comments? Exactly which comments led you to think 16 points?

I thought Ed Dawes asked the question, MM mentioned about Covid and Dawes said why is it not affecting everyone else, MM then gave the response about parachute payments and League One wages and the questioning was left there.

    May be wrong on that.

MM said that it is the ambitious clubs with bigger revenues who are worst hit by COVID, not the ones with parachute payments or clubs promoted from league 1. He also said , I think, that of the last 9 clubs promoted to the Premier League, only 2 would have complied with Championship FFP limits.
