Why are we accepting a points reduction? What have we done wrong?

It’s clear that the EFL want what they call justice and we call their pound of flesh. I believe the basic problem is that we did not amortise player values in accordance with EFL regulations. We would only do that if we were to gain from it- the gain being that it improved our financial situation- why else would we do it? The consequence of that may well be that the revised accounts , using the EFL’s player amortisation method, push us above allowable losses. The stadium sale was not against EFL rules although it was not playing fair in the eyes of the EFL and many clubs. I don’t care for the EFL but I understand why they are looking for blood. Mel will settle- he doesn’t want to endanger a takeover with a long and expensive legal battle whilst keeping the club afloat , knowing that he may lose in court anyway, whilst in the meantime the club are relegated. Personally, I could live with a 6 points penalty. If it’s 9 or 12 then we are in serious bother.

  2. No one has yet provided any evidence of Rooney saying that we would be out of the embargo tomorrow-in my view, that is because he has said no such thing. I am though optimistic that both the club and the EFL want to put an end to the saga. Unless a takeover is imminent, any post embargo transfers will be loans or free transfers.

I think there was a deadline if memory serves. Didn’t pay much attention though as was always going to carry it forward. As for legally whether the club can refuse a refund I am not sure - I think it would be too late as the season has already started and a ticket was offered without charge for the Huddersfield game. Whether he would have an argument for a partial refund as the club are now providing the same ’service’ or ‘goods’ for less money than they might have charged him I am not sure. Let’s face it no one would want to take legal proceedings against the club as they probably have enough legal bills to pay as it is but maybe once actual people are working on the ticket office there might be a resolution. I do think it is far too late to request a full refund though. Don’t know if that helps or not.

Cheers SBD (and M1884). Like you, I am renewing so would likely have deleted any email re refunds. If it was me, I would “escalate” (as  they say now) the matter up the chain at DCFC but it’s up to the brother in law.

  4. Advice please. My brother in law isn’t renewing and the club won’t give him a refund for last season, saying he missed the deadline for applying for one. Was there a deadline? Also, deadline or not , can the club refuse a refund, bearing in mind they didn’t supply the goods/services which he paid for?

  5. My brother in law travels from Huddersfield on match days but, for a number of reasons, he has decided not to renew his season ticket for 2021/22. Having searched through all the pages on here and all the FAQs on the website, I can’t see any reference regards being able to get a refund for last season. He has emailed the club and they have refused a refund saying that he has missed the deadline for applying for a refund and that supporters were emailed giving a now expired deadline for requesting the refund. I have found an email from 22nd April but that just offers credit that can be used towards a 21/22 season ticket or home match tickets. I may have had the email the club are referring him to but I am renewing so may well have deleted it.

Hopefully there is someone on this forum who isn’t renewing and can advise the situation regarding getting a refund for last season. Also, can the club legally refuse a refund to my brother in law as they failed to provide the goods/services he paid for?

If you remember we had a number of injury problems, with none of our strikers deemed capable of 90 minutes. We had Waghorn and Marriott, who at the time were banging the goals in, and we had Nugent and Bennett, who weren't.

Frank chose to start with Nugent and Bennett, with the only reason being using Bennett's strength to batter their central defenders. We played all right, keeping Grealish very quiet, but were behind to a couple of really lucky goals. It was crying out for him to bring our goal threat on because, as expected, Nugent and Bennett hadn't provided much up front. Sadly the substitutions came way too late. We actually scored within minutes of them coming on, and Villa were considering changing their shorts form brown ones, but it was too late.

I cannot see any sense in starting a match in a way that may leave you trying to rescue it later on, but that is exactly what we did. Neither is there any sense in going for the rescue when it is way to late to complete the task. But that is exactly what Frank did. Seeing how scared Villa were when Waggy and Jack came on, Just what would have happened if we had actually started with our goal scorers, and left the duffers to see the match out? I think the game would have been over before half-time in our favour.

Even bringing the goal getters on just after half-time would have been enough, but he delayed it toooooo late.

    WHY?

They weren’t lucky goals, they were a result of defensive errors. Roos should never have been in goal - he seemed incapable ,at the time, of catching a ball. I agree, team selection for the game was woeful.

  7. Quote from Sky presenter this afternoon

”Presenter Michelle Owen said: "We have spoken to the EFL this afternoon following that injury to the Kazim-Richards and they have said 'if it is a severe injury and if he is out long-term the EFL may be willing to make an exception to the rule based on medical advice'."

  8. I listened to Radio Derby Sportscene at 6pm tonight - very disappointing. Jim Wheeler’s phone line dropped and, while efforts were made to reconnect, Simon Long ( podcast writer), who didn’t go to last night’s meeting, launched into a rant which told us nothing new. Jim Wheeler then came back on the line but couldn’t get a word in due to Simon Long’s rant, which was a pity because I sensed that JW had a more positive take , having been at the meeting. JW managed to say a little more before Ed Dawes wrapped up the discussion with half the programme left. Pretty much a waste of time as I was hoping for a bit more news on how the meeting went.

Is there a clip of what Chris Cole’s said?

I don’t live in Derby so unable to ever get radio coverage.

If you have the internet you can get Radio Derby all day everyday, except for the actual game when contractual reasons prevent. The BBC Sounds app and a wireless  Bluetooth speaker does it for me.

  10. I was under the impression that, being a paid up season ticket holder from last season, I was able to buy ( FOC) a ticket for my usual seat for the Huddersfield game. I’ve been all over the club website but not found anywhere to do this. Am I doing something wrong, or are they not on sale yet?

  11. I’m not convinced. He’s 29 but has only made 235 career appearances and in only 3 seasons did he make more than 20 league appearances. Added to that he hasn’t played for the QPR first team since January following a knee injury.

  12. I have to admit I’m confused. There are two new and contradictory articles from the Derby Telegraph this morning- one says that we have a transfer embargo and cannot sign anyone whilst the other states that we can sign free agents and loan players. Which is it? I am guessing that the central issue concerns the number of players “of professional standing” we already have and whether or not the academy players who played in the Chorley cup tie are counted as players of professional standing.
    Any clarification gratefully received.

  13. From the Derby Telegraph tonight:

EFL decision and what it means for Derby County's transfer embargo and signing players

The Rams are currently operating under a transfer embargo

    BySteve Nicholson

    22:26, 2 JUL 2021UPDATED22:29, 2 JUL 2021

Derby County's transfer embargo remains in place despite the decision by the EFL not to appeal the verdict handed down to the Rams by an independent disciplinary panel last week.

The Rams were fined £100,000 and ordered to resubmit three years of accounts for 2016, 2017 and 2018.

There was no mention of a points' deduction at the time but that remained a possibility as the EFL had the right to appeal, as did the club.

Furthermore, the EFL said it had developed an interchangeable fixture list for next season for Derby and Wycombe Wanderers, while the disciplinary process is finalised. Wycombe were relegated on the final day of last season while Derby survived, finishing one point and one place above Wycombe.

But a statement released by the EFL on Friday said they remained "disappointed" with the decision of the independent disciplinary commission that fined Derby, but had "regrettably determined that there are insufficient grounds to appeal the sanction".

Derby are under embargo for the non-submission of accounts and resubmitting the three years of accounts cannot happen overnight, but the club and the EFL are looking to work together to resolve the matter and find a way to move forwards, DerbyshireLive understands.
