Anyone else pick up that he said it looked like Cashin has played his last game?  Said it on Radio Derby.  So it looks like he won’t be back on loan.  Which, to be fair, if you’re Brighton (assuming he’s going there) and Cashin you want a loan to the Championship.  He’s already had a full season in L1.

You obviously weren’t listening properly or were but chose to ignore that very quickly Warne pointed out that he was kidding about it being Cashin’s last game.

Serious question,  was thinking whilst at the game yesterday relative to the level we are playing at and the standard of football we are playing I think this team is a contender for our worst ever side.

I only started watching in 2008 as I was 9 then and that's when I got into Derby, but this is definitely the worst team since I've been watching,  heard we were bad in the 1980s but I doubt we were ever this bad.  2007 Prem side would beat this team imo and wouldn't struggle vs average League 1 teams.

What do people think who have been watching for decades? Got to be up there at the moment imo.

As well as being the knee jerk of all knee jerk reactions after only 3 league games, the question is ludicrous unless anyone knows of a 160 year old who still has a cracking memory and all of his faculties, still being fit enough to attend matches.

  3. I accept that we are talking about the end of the 2016/17 season since he last played in League 1 but his record in 4 seasons in that league is:

    appearances 192

    goals               107

    That’s better than 1 every 2 games

Alan Nixon saying that we are in talks with Sheff Utd about a deal for Billy Sharp but terms not yet agreed and the player has yet to commit. Cov also want him as a squad player and Rotherham also interested.

Says no deal for Jordan Rhodes as his package at Huddersfield is too lucrative.

My mistake, Nixon saying we are in talks with Sharp and his agent, Sheff Utd not involved

I wonder what the hold up is. Is it Rhodes himself? I don't get the impression he is pushing for the move and if he isn't sure if he wants to be here then I'd give him a deadline to decide and move on if he misses it.

I might be way wide of the mark there, but if the terms with Huddersfield are sorted (which I assume they would be if we are talking personal terms with their player) then I can't see what else would hold it up?

EDIT: I'm asking a general question there, not expecting @Big Travto answer it directly.

Seems to be down to Warnock needing to recruit more attackers before he will let Rhodes go.

...and they won't get them at the Brunswick, who's real ale selection is geared toward the more 'traditional' end of the market, shall we say. (ie the ones that those customers who say things like "I don't want one with citrus in" or "5.2? That's a bit too strong for me." tend to veer toward)

It does depend just what the OP is referring to as craft though, there's not really anywhere other than suds & soda that specialises in keg & can stuff.

Think the best bets to fit the brief are... The Alex (real ales geared more toward the modern side), The Smithfield (similar), Brewery Tap (decent enough mix and alright bottle selection), and The Furnace, before moving onto the Flowerpit.

Most of the other pubs mentioned are a bit nothingy in selection, and I don't tend to go into them unless I'm playing darts there or meeting people.

Only issue is I'm not really sure what 'a range of lagers' constitutes, or what they're really looking for in this regard, they've all just got your standard sort of stuff (but if they insist on Madri they'll be SOL)

I can't really think of anywhere in the actual centre,

I’m obviously out of touch here , as I thought craft beers meant any drinks other than lager, bitter and mild ( can you still get that?). My son drinks Ghost Ship, Atlantic, Timothy Taylor’s Landlord and others I can’t recall the names of. As long as we can get lager, bitter, pale ale and one or two of the ones with funny names then I think everyone will be happy.

Thank you everyone for taking the trouble to respond to my original post and , if you feel you have anything to add to the discussion, I would be glad to hear from you. One more thing,  I  just know I’ll have to bail out and go home before the end of festivities. Is Derby city centre safe on a Saturday night for an old git looking for a taxi home?

  8. My nephew is getting married and his English stag do centres around the Charlton game on October 14th. There could be up to a dozen of us and what  we won’t be is raucous or rowdy. I’m too old to know about Derby city centre watering holes these days  and all the other participants are from elsewhere in the country. I would be grateful for recommendations on civilised establishments serving a good range of lagers and craft beers. Eating destination not decided yet but could be the Okra on Friargate.

  9. It’s a bit more complicated than that. According to Alan Nixon, Coventry, Rotherham, Hull and us are all after Billy Sharp. If Coventry get him then they may let Godden go and we fancy him.

From what I read on here, Billy Sharp will not come to us because of some disgusting chanting by a section of our fans. What’s the background to this?

The three good strikers possibly - Collins,Washington, ? . So far it's wetting my bed more than my appetite...

I don’t get why there is so much negativity around the potential signing of Conor Washington. If Wiki stats are accurate, he has played 172 games in League 1, scoring 55 goals - that’s very close to 1 goal every 3 games. His championship  stats show only 20 goals in 151 games so a striking rate of less than 1 in 7. This suggests he’ll be okay for our division but probably not the championship.
