jono reacted to RoyMac5 in Random stuff that cheers me up thread
"...the now 101-year-old has been to almost every home match since the end of the Second World War.
Speaking when celebrating his 100th birthday in 2017, he said: “There is no secret to old age just luck and kindness.
"If you are kind and nice to people, most people will be nice back to you and that’s how I live my life.”

jono got a reaction from Ewe Ram in Random stuff that people do that annoy me
Vouchers, club cards, loyalty points, special credit cards .. all that guff that you get persuaded is great but it is a huge waste of my time.
please .. offer me a client ID card, fair enough. At the end of the year promise me something based on what I spend. Nothing else is needed, it just crowds my brain space and doesn’t incentivise me. If you want to get rid of some stock then lower the price. Everything else is BS

Still really feel for him. He’s been poorly advised. I really hope the PFA can work a reconciliation between him and the Club but he has to accept he’s now an ex- pro footballer. A reminder to us all about how your life can flip in an instant...

This!
That interview with his agent on Talksport showed how far out of touch with reality his agent is/was. Mix this in with a bit of arrogance/ignorance to accept the reality of the situation and maybe even a sense of entitlement and you have the current situation.

Can’t believe he never took the reduced contract that was offered to him. It would still of been a decent contract.

I really hope that is the case. It is as it should be but sadly when agents, money, story mongers, ego and spongers are in the sidelines, then gentlemanly behaviour and wise council tends to get thrown out of the window.

We don’t welcome the situation that has arisen and we feel terrible for RK; but there is a reality that cannot be ignored. I’m doubtful that RK’s appeal will be successful but I suspect the impasse will be fixed by both sides coming together and reaching a compromise. I suspect that Derby will keep the current offer of a reduced contract on the table and I suspect RK will eventually accept it realising that he now has to work at building a future for himself as a former footballer.

or if he wasn't the captain or if he'd not got himself seriously injured or if he'd put a seat belt on

Imagine if he had got a taxi home at 8pm!
He'd have probably been The Championship Player of the Month for October.

No. He was guilty of misconduct. Instead of being sacked, he was punished by being offered a reduced terms because he was unable to play and thus fulfil his old contract . He chose not to accept that punishment.

Correct Roy. All three guilty of gross misconduct. Only one rendered himself unfit for work as a result hence only one sacked after refusing a reduced contract.
