jono reacted to Tamworthram in Paul Warne
I have to admit, that thought did cross my mind but I realised we should actually give some of them (not all of them) credit for a) sticking to their opinion that they still don’t think he is the right man to take us forward or they hate his football (everyone is entitled to their opinion even if we disagree with them) and b) having the good grace to keep their opinions to themselves at this time of celebration.

I really didn’t like his early interviews, which were a bit cringeworthy IMHO. But over the last year they have got better. This one I really enjoyed. Very self deprecating, and becoming clear why the players have responded so well to his approach.
One thing that is clear - his insistence on bringing in “players with character”, which many laughed at when he kept mentioning it, has been the key to our promotion.
It will be interesting to see how he develops as a manager in the championship. My suspicion is that we’ll retain a strong core of hard work and running, but it will be augmented with a little more flair.

Loved that “beastly unit” 😊 we need one of those … Mind you Adams does a pretty good impression of one.

jono reacted to Ewe Ram in Now we're promoted, what are your thoughts on League One ?
I don’t mind what league we are in, I just want Derby to be competitive. I’ve enjoyed league one, but then I don’t like or watch premier league football, I’d rather watch non league

The Carlisle fans summed it all up for me,
I met some on the train yesterday who were brilliant. About 30 of us Derby fans got on at Utch station to a chorus of, "your just a bus stop in Stoke" from them. 🤣 A couple of us were offered cans of beer from them and the banter was great,
Walked up to the ground with some blokes who were sound and very respectful about Derby as we were with them. Proper fans of a proper club, they've had very little to cheer over the years but the miles they put in following their club is unbelievable.
Good luck to Carlisle, hope they have a swift return to League 1 and to all the other clubs who have fans who choose to follow their local team rather than be plastic supporters of Man Utd or Liverpool.

I prefer it to the Premier League.
If you're outside the clique of Premier clubs then each game is just damage limitation.
I hope the top six or whatever leave for some TV super league (Harlem Globetrotters anyone?) and the top domestic league becomes more competitive as a result.
Even the championship is now ruined as a competition by parachute payments tilting the balance.
At least League One was competitive, unpredictable and, in the most part, entertaining.

There’s more teams than most would imagine that try to play football. Just, in general, they end up being pretty blunt in the final third because the quality of pass, movement or shot is less consistent.

I’ll second that. Could hear “Untited United” way into the second half. They also didn’t look like a bottom side, they played some neat football. I hope they bounce back.

Thing is with Fozzy is he has a football brain, is flexible enough to be LB, WB, CB and will perform whether it’s raining, a heat wave, Covid, He is boots on the ground that don’t leak. Oh yeah .. he’s been there before and if anyone is a RAM it’s Fozzy. I reckon he would be delighted to have another year and without an ego he’ll sit on a bench standing guard for the mighty Rams

Looking on the Fleetwood forum, their fans keep comparing him to Yaya Toure. Also seems like Charlie Adam thinks very highly of him and was the one who aided him in his development into this beastly unit of a CM

Would be a blinding signing, but I can't help feeling the most likely outcome is him staying at Celtic next season. That said, if Warne could genetically engineer a player, this lad wouldn't be too far off.
He looks huge, for a start. Google says 6' 2", but I think he must still be growing! He looks a specimen too and seriously strong. Watching him brush players off the ball, it looked like a dad had sneaked onto the pitch at a kid's game.
He looks absolutely rapid too, if not instant pace, it's not far off and he's a huge stride on him and positively eats up the ground once in full flight. It seems he can tackle, pass and shoot, knows how to link play and seems to read the game well too. His video actually reminds me a little of George Thorne, which I mean as a big compliment.
Some definite interest from me then, but based on what I concede is flimsy evidence. Irrespective, I'd like to think we'd want to have a good look at him, at very least, if transpires that he is going to be available.

The links have started already, Bosun Lawal who has been on loan at Fleetwood this season. With a name like that, he might be more suited to Portsmouth.

Be very surprised if Forsyth isn’t already signed up. Was it mentioned on here he’s said it was all but done? Plus Dom Dietrich didn’t even question him about it yesterday and their chat sounded very much like he was stopping around.

I wouldnt loan out Thompson, he is full of energy and a decent player. Good utility player, midlield or full back.

I agree. his leadership & experience are vital for the scrap next season. he should get a one year deal if he wants it.

Risky to release all the forward’s before we have signed their (any) replacements. Especially as it is the hardest position to recruit.
Suspect we will keep Collins and leave carrot dangling to TJJ and Gale for time while trying to get better* options.
*They are both quality, but too fragile for me, while Collo we know will be there for us.

Lots of short memories here from the people wanting to release Fozzy. It’s barely a matter of weeks since his 90 minutes against Bolton did arguably as much as any other performance by any other player at any point in the season to get us promoted.
Sure, he’s getting on and may no longer be a starter in the Championship, but it takes more than eleven players to see out a season and I can’t see him letting us down.

Agree with those two, there’s a couple of others I’d like to see offered deals as well, overall I’d go with extending the following players’ contracts;
Wildsmith
Sibley
Smith
Thompson
Robinson
Barkhuizen
Collins
They’d give us some continuity and squad depth alongside those contracted beyond the summer, then we could add some shiny new players to strengthen further.

I think we’ll see/hear confirmation of those extending deals and those leaving quite quickly. With our league status now confirmed, plans for next season can be firmly put in place.

jono got a reaction from Premier ram in Can anyone actually name a single improvement Warne has done since arriving?
I don’t want to start a squabble at such a happy time but “crap and going nowhere” illustrates this misplaced demand for instant success. It’s something that rarely happens. I’d say, that at that time we looked lacklustre, disjointed, not working in harmony or being better than the sum of our parts (which is what a team game needs) Warne was new at the time, had inherited players and little room to buy. He needed time to build that group in to team. He needed to Instill his culture and methods. That took time. He succeeded.
That is why I get so narky when the knives come out after a couple of bad results. I am going to say the same next season when we are 15th in the table just had a bore draw at home against a lower ranked side. Patience.
