Fwiw I think the appeal is of merit. Let us not forget it is Administrators, men of accounting acumen, who are lodging this appeal. They will be tooled up to put forward a convincing case. The appeal is not on behalf of the Club either, as their responsibility is to get the best deal for the Creditors. The Club will look more of an attractive purchase if League One football next season is anything other than a certainty.

Do you imagine that relegation, which you seem to be advocating, wouldn't result in even more job losses, nor threaten the future existence of the club?
The blasé way in which some fans seem to want the Club/Administrators to simply roll over and accept whatever punishment the EFL want to mete out, in some cases mainly (it seems) because they're "bored with it all" is quite staggering.
Unlike Wigan, DCFC's case is based on a full season of heavily impacted revenues. The argument that the owner could simply have made up the difference, or that he shouldn't have allowed the club to get into financial difficulties in the first place doesn't negate the impact of the pandemic.
I expect it to fail, because such a precedent is the last thing the EFL would want, but I'm pleased they're willing to try it, if only to keep our season alive.

They haven’t gone far enough in my view. They should expunge all FA Cup wins from the record too.

Nearly sprayed coffee across the kitchen when someone suggested Villa as well run club. They are just lucky gamblers vs Mel/Us as unlucky gambler.
If being well run means hoping to roll a double six then I suppose it’s true.

Especially when several of those listed weren’t even real academy products as such!
Ben White was at Southampton until he was 16, had two years in the 18s, 1 in the 23s and was then loaned out to Newport, Peterborough and then Leeds on season long loans which arguably had more input into the end product than the academy?
Jayson Molumby and Aaron Connelly didn’t join BHA until they became scholars having come from Ireland.

Steven Alzate came through the Leyton Orient academy before joining BHA at 19 and going back on loan at Orient and later Swindon.
Robert Sanchez joined from Levante at 17 although he then had 3/4 seasons in BHA before loans to Forest Green and Rochdale.
Christian Walton came through Plymouth’s academy and has since had a million loans but only made three appearances for BHA.
Solly March didn’t join BHA until he was an U19 and was picked up through the English Independant schools (ISFA) and non league Lewes. Interestingly Solly had trialled at BHA as an U14 and wasn’t successful.

So Max Sanders who never made a league appearance before being sold to Lincoln and Lewis Dunk who is so old he wasn’t even in the academy when it was an academy (it was a Centre of Excellence) are the only two who have really come through the entire academy programme.
BHA actually do have a fantastic academy (although one of the best in the world may be a stretch!) they are a very progressive club and they use the loan system very well to develop their players and are enjoying real success at 18s and 23s now.
Strangely a player who did do the entire academy programme (9-18s) at BHA and could claim to be an ‘academy product’ (although never making an appearance for them) but has gone on to make a fair few FL appearances is….Isaac Hutchinson!
    Funny ol game Saint !

Are we sure Ashley isn't just hoping to send Bielik and Jozwiak up to Shirebrook?

Some parallels with another much-maligned businessman who emerged last time we were in this much trouble - Robert Maxwell in 1984. Maxwell already had a very chequered business record by the time he rescued us & in 1983 had tried to merge Oxford & Reading. Although he was very unpopular by the time he left, he brought Arthur Cox to the club, funded our rise back to the top division & did eventually leave us in a much better state than he found us in.
Am not a big fan of Mike Ashley at all but he does seem to have a sensible if uninspiring approach to running a football club - exactly what we need. If the interest is true, he will only be investing to sell us at a profit & the only way he does that is by repairing the club & leaving us either Premiership or on the verge (i.e. like GSE left us in 2014).
Not especially interested in Newcastle fans' take on this - whatever Ashley's faults, at least he doesn't head a regime that actively persecutes its own citizens & murders dissidents. Their nauseating self-pity over the past few months has really got up my nose too - other than a couple of years in the mid 90s, they've been an irrelevance since the 1950's.

    Mike Ashley -
We actually know who he is and can vouch for his net worth- check
Experience of running a football club - check
Experience of getting a football club promoted multiple times - check
Experience of running a football clubs finances and operations on a sound footing, proven over a prolonged period of time - check
Has the proven finances to run the club with no danger of running out of cash - check
Is not Mel Morris - check

We're not really in a position to turn our noses up at a multi-billionaire with experience of running a sustainable premier league football club, so if true it's a yes from me despite any social media noise from the Geordies.
