cosmic got a reaction from MickD in Rooney to Consider Quitting
If this has any ounce of truth, I don’t think he’d necessarily think of quitting because we’re in League One. It’d be all the other garbage surrounding the state of the club that would make him leave. And I wouldn’t blame him one bit.

If now is not the time to stick together in solidarity with the club…..when would be?

If Rooney doesn’t resign, we have to sack him, to sack him will cost money.
Now the club have to look at this and say ok, do we believe in Rooney or not and take the financial hit.
You also then have to look at replacements, Evatt the name which gets thrown around, that will still cost to bring him in.
It’s ok coming up with dream managerial combos, but Wassall and McClaren might not even have any interest in the job.
McClaren was at Uni studying to move upstairs into a comfy office running a club.
Rooney is still here so that says they believe in him, which also means the players believe in him as it’s pretty obvious when they don’t.
So no, our best chance is actually just getting behind the bloke and give him that chance.
Draw a line under last season and see what happens.
Sitting here calling for his head, helping to continue this negative atmosphere which will spread like wildfire over the internet and follow into the ground when we can get back in, will be actively working against us.
Carry on though if that’s what you want, disagree strongly with what’s going on but it’s your voice to use.

No he hasn’t, chances are he won’t either before the season kicks off so I fail to see what this what has become a daily pile on hopes to achieve, other than add to an already negative atmosphere around the club.
It’s ok not to like the guy, not want him as manager, but right now, more than ever it’s a time to stick together and just get behind the bloke and give us the best chance we have.
If he’s as bad as you all think, he will be shown the door as an early Christmas present.

Thank you, yes we are doing much better, it has been a tough few months, but yesterday we picked up the keys to our new home. During lockdown last year we lived in a 2 bed flat with no garden, my 3 year old had no where to play bless him, another source of stress for me. We managed to sell our place, rent somewhere temporarily and buy somewhere with a big garden for my son to play in. We finally picked the keys up yesterday and seeing the smile on my sons face when he saw his new garden is something I will never forget.
Derby County are a continued source of stress at the minute, but if my situation tells us anything, even in the longest darkest tunnel, there will be light at the end eventually.

I thought 2020 was a tough year, 2021 has been absolutely mental so far.
5 weeks ago my brother-in-law committed suicide and then last week my wife lost our baby whilst 4 months pregnant and we spent a rough couple of days in hospital having to still give birth. Tough times.
I was at least hopeful Wayne Rooneys Rams would cheer me up slightly on the Saturday, but it wasnt to be.
My escapism has always been the Rams, but at the minute it's like going on holiday to Normanton to get away from it all.

Thank you very much, really does mean a lot.
It really is a very strange place to be, you realise you dont truly understand what someone must go through until you go through it yourself.
We will get through it.

It’s probably just Colleen sharing untruths with her/his “friends” again to see who is leaking stories to the press. ?

If this has any ounce of truth, I don’t think he’d necessarily think of quitting because we’re in League One. It’d be all the other garbage surrounding the state of the club that would make him leave. And I wouldn’t blame him one bit.

We need to look at the positives if he does go. The first weekly wage we'll save, will near pay off the EFL fine.

Not really a suprise is it. I don't blame him. Why would you bother with it? Broken promises, failed takeovers, embargos, no transfer funds, a small squad, another season of struggle. We are a complete and utter joke.

Surprised he's made it this far without jacking it in to be honest. The club is a joke.

cosmic reacted to Pearl Ram in Please don’t blame Morris and Pearce.
I’m astonished by the title of this thread. I haven’t read the opening post because of editorial reasons ? but to me, to not blame the guardian of this football club is laughable.
I assume he thought we would be in the Premier League by now and out of the EFL’s jurisdiction so sailing close to the wind would have little or no consequences.
I have no doubt Morris had very good intentions for this club and I’ll hold my hands up, I truly believed his ownership/leadership was a good thing, but then, I was under the impression the club would be run in a responsible manner. How wrong was I ?
Say what you like about goalposts being shifted by the EFL, but if we’d compiled our accounts like the majority of other clubs instead of being smart arses, discovering loopholes and congratulating ourselves on how clever we’d been, this catastrophe (and that’s what it is) would have been avoided.
Remember the times Morris couldn’t keep his trap shut ? Appearing at forums, TalkSport, EMT, taking in all the adulation of the supporters ? Now we’re up the creek not a duckin’ peep out of the bloke.
Don’t blame Morris an Pearce ? The sooner they’ve gone the better this club will be, our reputation is shot to pieces and the playing side of things ? Don’t get me started on that and it’s down to two people who, it transpires, aren’t as clever as they think they are.

Well, if the points deduction was 20/21 and we were relegated then we would start League One on zero points. You wouldn't get relegated and then get a point deduction.
Either way, I'm really not sure what the worst situation is - a season in the Championship in which we're horribly unprepared to partake which would no doubt lead to some really quite distasteful scenes and a lot of the young lads getting hammered by the fans. Ending in almost unavoidable relegation.
OR
A relegation to League One where we are still disgustingly unprepared but with more of a chance of some of our U23s and U18s stepping up to fill gaps. I doubt we would be in the race for promotion but we should be able to keep our League One status. I guess whether we could survive League One financially, with the debts piling up, is another question.
Both are absolutely horrific, but that's where we are - Mel Morris has to go down in our history as one of the worst owners this club has ever had despite his good intentions. The bloody 3 Amigos didn't even put us in a mess this big!

cosmic reacted to Ambitious in EFL Verdict
I really don't think it matters what happens. We are going to be a League One club in 2022/23 regardless. In fact, we probably have more chance of being a Championship club in 2022/23 IF we take the point deduction retrospectively and go into League One next season.
I was already coming around to the fact that we would be scrambling around for players as it is, but this latest news is an absolute killer. We will survive on loans and freebies - mostly loans. We can only play 5 of them. Any sort of injury crisis and we are resorting to our U18s in a matchday squad.
We should look to write off the U23 team and just promote them all to the first team for the time being. Prince Phillip is in better health than Derby County and he's been dead two months!
