The more time goes on the more it appears we dodged a bullet. Feel far more at ease with Clowes on board than any of the other options.
Yes, they are Rams fans but something feels different. Mel got lucky with CC. These guys have been around business for decades. Just feels a safe pair of hands. That is the onevthing we need above all else. No more circus

    Let's keep things in perspective....
The most important thing yesterday was that it looks like club has been saved. A week or so ago that was looking unlikely.
Nevertheless, it's disappointing - albeit understandable - that Rooney has decided to leave.
Some seem disappointed at the timing of his announcement, others (amazingly IMHO) feel let down by his departure and a few appear pleased he's gone.
My own feeling is that he decided to go once Kirchner's bid fell through but that he stayed around until the club was secure.
My opinion of Rooney changed beyond recognition last year. I think his dignified manner when dealing with the issues is what rallied everyone. Rooney's role in the club's rescue should never be underestimated.
I will always be grateful. Thanks Wayne.

Imo we need experience right now and lots of it. We need someone with a unquestionable contacts list.. a modern day jim smith.

we’re going to need to be shrewd , we’re going to need to be clever.
unpopular perhaps but the only two i can think of in that respect are mcarthy and warnock.

given our circumstance i would take either
one from leftfield, and one that i know would split opinion and im only saying based on the above criteria.
alladyce .. if he wanted it.
at the level we’re at… its made for him.
In any other world, i wouldnt want him near the club… but hes as close to a jim smith as i can think of
washed up on the managerial scrap heap, plenty of doubters , plenty of baggage and sackings .. how about one last fling at promotion with a team based around a load of shaun flynns and daryll powells
    sounds quite romantic to me

Don't underestimate the draw of DCFC. We have constantly been able to draw big name managers for decades:
    Cox
    Gregory
    Burley
    Cocu
    Lampard
    Rooney
    Even the ex England manager
Yes, all had a varied amount of success. Look at BD he had a good thing going on at Preston. He jumped ship to join a team that wasn't going anywhere. Why? Because the draw of a bigger club even if they are struggling is hard to turn down. I for one wouldn't be surprised to see Dyche. He has local links and would see the potential in the club if not its current plight. Only sticking point would be wages but he's already minted so probably won't want too much.

I wanted to use this to say the personal and vile abuse Ed Dawes has been getting on Twitter is disgusting.

Some of the treatment of him and his mrs on there was bloody rediculous. Some people need a word with themselves.
hes black and white through and through, people should remember that. Hes a fan too that wants the same outcome as the rest of us.
love his commentary and his raw passion on match days .. wouldnt swap it for anything bar graham richards but thats no slight on ed

I’m actually getting a wee bit excited about all this.

Yes, team on the brink, Manager leaving so close to pre-season, and all that.

But Derby County will be playing football with a new chairman, boss, and a trimmed down squad. All without much expectation. They all just get to build, take chances with players/tactics, and let the team grow organically.
That is something I’ve been wanting for a few years now. The team turnover of managers and bloated team sheets have been such a headache for a few years.
It will be nice to just have a humble team left alone to grow and become successful again. ?‍♂️

Gutted about Rooney. I think the way he’s conducted himself in the face of relentless ineptitude and bad management has been exemplary and kept my pride in saying I’m a Derby fan over the last year or so.

On a practical basis, I think he’s shown that he can get the best out of talented maverick cast offs, older players written off and emerging youth - which would have been exactly what we need to be competitive again. And I also think his name, and enhanced reputation from this past year as a manager, would have helped us retain and attract players way above our current station.

I think it’s a massive loss and hope that there is a plan in place for management and recruitment that, presumably, needs to do a year’s work in a few weeks to get a playing squad ready for the new season that starts next month. Fingers crossed.

I wonder if this decision was made a while ago and Rosenior knew it hence hanging around. Perhaps Rooney has been waiting until now as the club seems to be passing into safe hands and not relying on his celebrity to a hard-nosed bidder.

Just trying to find some positives.. ?

Very F****** disappointed. Should have known we can't be excited for more than 5 minutes. The day we potentially get a new owner?!
    ....give it to Rosenior please.

Eh, wish him well. He did the best he could with us without really being given a chance. Maybe he’s tired of still having his hand tied behind his back based on what the admins have discussed today? Reasons will come out eventually but no ill will from me.
thanks for your effort, good luck for the future.

You might find that this has come just in the nick of time. WR will today be telling the players to give him until Weds at the latest and if nothing happens by then they can go wherever.
Contracts will have been drawn up pending a stroke (of a pen)

I put SSN on several times a day expecting the breaking news ticker to be bid accepted for the Rams. Nothing of the sort though, usually nonsense about Lewis Hamilton losing an inch in height.

When I visit this site the first thing I look at is the "Daily Updates" thread. Often followed by the crushing disappointment of discovering that, despite this being such a terrible, precarious time for the club, nothing has happened! When will this end do we think? I'm lucky to have a lot of interesting distractions/diversions, but I'm sure there are many fans struggling to take much more of it.

I'm a Chadd lad, No one will say "yoth" it'll be "yoof" in Chadd...and it's double ducking D.
Heanor or Anor as it's known will say "yoth"
    Here's the old joke.
Tiger Woods and the local Anor golf lad go for a round of golf
Tiger tees off and hits the centre of the fairway
Anor lad hits his tee shot and reaches the edge of the green
    Woods says...nice tee shot
Anor lad looks at his shirt and says...cheers yoth.
