I reckon he has done reasonably well
He arrived having been given a small group of players that he didn’t choose and no means to bring any in.
He adapted our play from suicidal “play from the back” - we didn’t have the quality or pace to execute that style with any degree of aplomb. Instead, he made us more flexible and able to switch styles and not be too fixed in a particular system.
He rode the big day out syndrome, got us fitter and some more miles out of aging maestros, made us competitive and went on a good mid season winning run.
He persists in reverting to wing backs because he likes the concept, but doesn’t seem to accept  that this is flawed when your wide players and support players are not the young guns they once were and our CB’s are either inexperienced or alternatively at the end of their careers. He hasn’t really acknowledged that we get bullied. This is a tough man’s league; I have noticed time and again that we seem to be physically lightweight compared to our opponents, both in height and muscle. The only way round this, to my mind, is to keep the ball on the ground which he doesn’t do or encourage enough.

There is a lot here that is beyond his control so in the balance of aspects I think he’s done a good job but  far from faultless. I also like his honesty clichee free openness.

A year ago we were questioning wether we’d have a club, now we are expecting instant success, and calling for a managers head who’s had x1 January window where his hands were tied.
We were always going to struggle this season with the likes of Hourihane, Mendez Laing, Barkhausen, Forsyth (and the list goes on.) These players have all the experience in the world which helped us during Christmas, but the relentless nature of the division makes it incredibly difficult for these players to keep up.

I remember watching Michael Johnson on sky when we played Portsmouth earlier in the year and he stated that a 10th place finish would be a success for the club. I agreed and still agree with him to be fair.

We need a building period! It’s going to hurt and it’s going to take time, but the utter mess of the Morris tenure has taken us back 5 years. Paul Warne is the man to take us forward! He knows the division like the back of his hand and the whole setup of the club is built around sustainability and building for the future.
The short sightedness of fans has been apparent for years now and it seem the pantomime in the boardroom has spread into the terraces!
Let’s be grateful that we have a club, and let’s push the lads on to a playoff place! Up the Rams!

Maybe we could appoint a tactically astute manager who is able to get the best out of his resources, which is what the best managers do, at whatever level they are at?
I think the worry lots of people have with Warne is that no one can say that Hourihane, Sibley, Bird, Knight et al are being utilised effectively and very few of us can actually see a pattern of play that is recognisable, to the point that you can clearly see what we are trying to achieve. This is coupled with the fact that time and time again, opposition managers change something and Warne doesn’t react in any way. We seem to be floundering at the moment and a lot of good faith / good will is being lost across the fan base.
I think it’s all a moot point though because we have to give him time and let him assemble his own team. Let’s hope that goes well and we don’t  then have to employ a new manger who will need a couple of years to undo the damage and do exactly the same.

Then your expectations have been partly met, we are still challenging (limply) for a top 6 spot.
I get you don’t like Warne’s style, he was getting a tune out of the players earlier in the season and a combination of factors (injury/suspension/form/poor decision making from staff and officials) has seen that falter, so he is capable.
I just think it’s fair to give him time to build his own side to play that style before fully judging him, as frustrating as that may be at times.

The worst thing he did was get us on that unbeaten run across the end of last year.  fans went from being happy to compete and see the club alive kicking to expecting promotion.
Looks a long way off now, don’t have much confidence that he can right things this season.

Needs an overhaul in the close season, get rid of the footballers and get some more direct players in that suit what he wants us to do.
who knows if that’s the right way to go, but in Clowes I trust.

Think he’s doing a fair job so far.

I was happy with his appointment and the letting go of LR. I’m still firmly on the Warne bus but I do acknowledge that he has his flaws.

Think top 6 won’t happen, for me my main concern is making sure we don’t free fall thus increasing tensions and discontent throughout the club. Providing our form between now and the summer is fair I think we can really look forward to a revamp of the squad.

I imagine we’ll lose some of the young lads but in comparison to last summer at least we can hit the ground running. Hopefully my fears around Warne’s transfer skills can be put to bed.

Can we please stop scrutinising Warne! Look at it this way. David Clowes has put faith in Warne to get us up and given him a big contract. He’s had his hands tied this year and will in the summer. Let’s get behind the team and Warne, instead of finding fault at every available opportunity.

A lot of talk re “burn out” but look at Leeds under Bielsa and Huddersfield under Coberan, both high pressing, high intensity teams. I’d love Derby to become a team in that bracket, so let’s trust Warne to get them 23-27 year old in over summer!

Warne has been operating under very different and difficult circumstances to the top six teams we are competing with. The players look tired and some who were so reliable earlier on are out of form. We have a tiny squad so very little room for change game by game except shuffling around the deckchairs. He has inherited a squad that's not his and in the large doesn't suit what he wants to do (3 at the back, high intensity etc).
BUT! His in-game management seems poor, he appears slow to react to situations and change things up (formation, style of play, attitude) when other teams step it up or make changes.
Time to judge him is at the end of next season, when he's had a pre-season, more of his own team regards players he wants and more time to put a footprint on it.
We might still go up this season by the way, just in case anyone has forgotten we are still in the play off positions.
