I want a team that unites @RoyMac5 and @Tyler Durden

They didn't have to say he was interim as that was his job title when he accepted the interim managers role.
So if Rosenoir was under some misunderstanding that he was employed as our permanent manager when his job title was always interim then I don't believe he's that slow on the uptake.
Of course he was a dead man walking - that's the nature of interim employment - whether it be football or bank managers.

All fine as long as Rosenior wasn't allowed to believe he had a greater chance of securing the job on a permanent basis than he had in reality. Or worse, to believe ha had a chance when he had none at all.
We have no way of knowing what the conversations between Liam and David were like, so we can't really claim that he was lead on.
In fact, what we do know is that the chairman has stated that it was a close run thing and Rosenior nearly got the job, even hinting that he'd be open to working with him in the future, so that further removes us from the above scenario.
I have some vague recollection of Rosenior being aware of our interest in Warne before his final game against Wycombe? Could be totally misremembering and that's nonsense, but perhaps it wasn't coincidence that Rosenior switched to a 3 at the back in that game, considering we know Warne's preferred formation?

You're a bit naive aren't you....why do businesses interview more than one candidate when they have a clear favourite?
So they can't be accused of bias, process being rigged, favouritism etc.
And also ass a benchmark to prove that the favoured candidate actually was the best candidate comparatively.
    Hope that answers your question.

    No a permanent manager arriving.
You're conflating two points as usual.
Rosenoir was employed as an interim which by definition means it was a temporary position.
So this came to an end when a permanent manager (Warne in this case) arrived at the club.

Very much in the “we need to give a manager a full season and get off the managerial treadmill” mould but obviously there’s got to be a point where results are so bad, that’s no longer feasible.
So my answer would be that results would have to fall off a cliff because, while they’re not great atm, they’re so far away from being poor, it’s ridiculous.
I do honestly think the easy answer is never the best one and I do think many of us are underestimating the damage left by the last regime to the fabric of the club.
That all said, a failure to make the playoffs - or at least be competing for the playoffs - would have to trigger a serious review of everything. Including Warne’s position.

Fair enough - I remember when we were comfortably 4th?? Talking to a pal at work and saying “I doubt we’ll get anywhere near to autos from here but it’d take relegation form to end up not finishing in the play offs from here so we’ve at least got a chance there”

and then we dropped like a stone 😂

The blokes doing his job,has some time off for unknown reasons and gets personally slagged off by fellow derby supporters whilst he does so.

I'm in the give him till the end of the season camp but I might change my mind if we start to get drawn into a relegation battle which I don't think we will. Not that I'm comparing him at all to Brian Clough but it's worth remembering that in his first season with us we finished lower in the league than the season before and I for one am very happy that the board didn't have a knee jerk response and sack him at that point.

There's not really much in the short term that can (positively) change my opinion from hovering between being on the verge of having had enough and perpetually giving it a few more months.
We saw last season how there's no point in getting carried away with a good run here and there, some big wins, a handful of matches where we produce attractive football against weak teams etc, the proof is in what happens and where we are when the final whistle blows in the final game of the season.
In taking a wider view of what it would take for a full turnaround on my opinion of him as a football manager then, yes, it'll be some time yet!
tbh even promotion and survival in itself may not be enough to totally eradicate any misgivings (that's not to say it wouldn't be considered a very good achievement) as ideally there would be better integration of the academy, clear evidence of tactical growth and we would stay up not simply by scrapping it out as the underdog for 46 games a season.
You can't ask for everything all at once though, and have to accept that even very good managers have their limitations and blind spots, they can't be everything to everyone (although I think maybe there's an element of this in Warne which may actually be holding him back?)
Getting us promoted (whenever it happens) would be a great start, of course, but it's also the minimum requirement for defining his time as Derby manager as a success.
Without first achieving that, I don't really see how he changes my opinion.

To try and add a bit of balance to the predictable preceding posts I've always thought that not reaching the playoffs at the end of this season would be catastrophic for Mr Warne.
I'm all for tangible progress and despite the tedious threads about what has Warne achieved in his past year if he didn't generate an improved final league position relative to last year then this would make me seriously consider his position at the club.
That's just reaching the playoffs, if we performed abjectly in them after managing to reach them then this again would present a huge question mark for me.

We don't have a god given right to be top of the league but even under a business plan I think we can still expect to be competitive.
I think our strategy last summer was a good one. We wanted to try and compete for promotion. We needed to get some good experienced players in to compliment our youngsters that we still had on the books and that's exactly what we did.

EssendonRam reacted to Rammy03 in The Paul Warne Poll
The fans wouldn't have backed it because we would be sitting at the bottom of the league. Derby county in League one should be at the top competing for promotion. Ultimately it's not about older players for the short term or buying young players for the long term. You need both. It's the blend of youth and experience that makes a well balanced team.

And yet it rarely is. Imagine if Forest had cut Steve Cooper last season when the more rabid fans were demanding precisely that? Since you’ve mentioned Forest, by my quick count, they had 13 permanent managers in the decade before sacking Hughton. How’d that work for them?

NB: It’s also worth pointing out the difference records between Hughton’s tenure at Forest and Warne’s at Derby. Has Warne been great? I’m not suggesting he has been but it’s a bit bloody early throw out yet another manager.
