Mel tripled the wage bill between 2014 and 2018 to the point where the wage bill was 150% of turnover. There was only one way that story was ever going to end and we're living through it right now. The responsibility for the club's predicament is his and his alone. It's self evident. Blaming the EFL is like blaming the speed camera when you get a speeding fine. It's a well known phenomenon known as 'my side bias'.

Accusing other forum members of not being real fans because they don't agree with you is out of order. Then again, my user name is Red Ram so maybe I'm a Forest fan?

I agree Mel Morris has been reckless, but much of your post is just innuendo. The claim that the most proximate cause of admin is COVID is something that is not being made just by Mel Morris but also the administrators who as insolvency prcationers are better placed to judge than you or I .
I don't think he was trigger happy with managers, in fact two of his managerial appointments were poached by other clubs, and Maclaren was effectively too.

    etc etc

    Basically we disagree.

That's true here are some facts to be going on with:
Massive debt run up with HMRC - Administrators trying to negotiate with HMRC, this is reportedly employees Income Tax and NI, if those NI contributions are not paid it could affect employees state pension entitlements!!!!
Mel allowed the wage bill to climb to 161% of turnover - That's nothing short of reckless.
Mel has said he's lost £200M - In 6 years that is nothing short of p*ss poor stewardship.  This will only be true if he gives the ground back and writes off all the soft loans!
His choice and trigger finger with Managers in nothing short of shambolic.
His interfering in training sessions and entering the dressing room, displays all the signs of a micro manager, which is even worse when you know sod all about the game.
His communication with the fans has been poor, his final attempt to keep a lid on the fans with his NDA meeting was the final straw for most of us.
His final denial that he had anything to do with Admin and it was all the fault of Covid shows the sign of a man who thinks he's perfect.  We were already in breach of FFP, despite selling the club to himself, the 161% of turnover wage bill was sanctioned by him and ultimately is the main reason we are in the deep poo we are!!!
He's clearly turned a club that was on the brink of entering the premier league into an insolvent business and unless he writes off the soft loans and gifts the ground back we could well go out of business.
Yes we can leave the post mortem until after the deal goes through, but all of the above is a matter of fact and the mans inability to accept any responsibility is quite frankly unbelievable, its also an insult to the Fans of DCFC that he thinks we will swallow all his bullshite!!!

The EFL aren't the reason we can't pay what we owe, might as well lump Gibson in that group too, interested observers, nothing else.
Journalists report as they see fit, I've seen no article that has forced us into administration, and I'd include Maguire in that group.
Keogh and Rush were employees of the club, if their dismissals were legally watertight it wouldn't be a problem, if not that's the clubs fault, not theirs.
So we're left with Covid, and Mel withdrawing his funding.

As I said, one of two reasons.

    One of many reasons?
    He's one of two.
His incompetent guardianship, and Covid. What else can you add to the list?

Actually, forgive me, scrap that, Sibley was given a nigh on impossible task. Thinking back, there was a couple of times when the Preston defender marking him appeared to manhandle him as well.
I'm thinking back to the game and just trying to fathom out the reason why we didn't score. We had so much quality on the ball, especially the first twenty minutes. Absolute class. Preston was there for the taking. It should have been three points.

Looks like 45 million will get both the stadium training ground and football club all in. In honesty he’s gotten everything right so far before anyone else. He mentioned the appeal and who’s interested. With Wigan he was bang on with everything to a tee. Maybe he knows people within the admin circle. He says the jez moxey group is Appleby and rush and others. These were the interested party at the stadium vs Swansea

The level of debt he was carrying though is why he failed when covid hit. Morris had no wriggle room left to be able to cheat his way out of. He knew it was game up but instead of admitting he screwed up, he doubled down blaming everything on covid and the EFL!

I'd argue the first domino was the fact that the people running the club had pushed it to breaking point, meaning we had absolutely no ability to mitigate any change in circumstances outside of the clubs control, and I suspect that is exactly what whoever reviews our appeal will say shortly before dismissing it.

Waste of 300k that could have been used to keep people in jobs.
No chance we win this appeal given the state of our finances. To say COVID is the sole reason we are where we are is just false.

As someone who's of the opinion Mel is the sole cause of this mess, and yes the EFL were ✨less✨ than helpful in the handling/acceptance of our accounts etc, I think those responses are fair.
Although they do keep banging on about the need to move away from a beneficiary model of ownership.. which lets not forget has been allowed to become so commonplace under their own stewardship. Stinks of the Tories saying we have to restore our country to former glory etc etc every election, despite having been in power for 11 years.

It’s very obvious he checked out, almost completely. Not to say that Pearce, or whoever, was left to run the abandoned, sinking, perilous ship shouldn’t have done something about it.
Piled up the debts, until there was a real chance he might have to pay it back and then dumped the club in administration under the pretence it was the best for everyone. The guy is arguably the worst charlatan that has ever darkened the door.

People's main gripe seems to be that he massively underpaid his workers...for that reason alone I'm in, ridiculous wage bills are a huge part of why we are in this mess.

Ashley would probably be ok for DCFC at the moment.
For the way he allowed his workers to live in Shirebrook he can duck off and die.
