I have no idea how much he has. You could Google it, but again it wouldn't necessarily tell us an accurate figure. In 2018 he was listed as being worth £252mil, how accurate that is I have no idea, but my hypothesis for the deal, and his motivation, is this...
Whoever buys Derby County will be buying a club that has to operate under restrictions for the next couple of years at least. That includes how much we can spend on wages and transfer fees. In League One, in theory, it should mean that with our revenue we will be able to be self-sufficient. We can start to look to build again without having the possibility of forking out extortionate amounts. We can give longer contracts than 12 months to players, so if we can recruit another Luke Plange or Malcolm Ebiowei, like we have managed to do whilst already under restrictions, then they aren't going to be poached off of us without our say so. If we choose to sell them, we get a fee to benefit us.
Meanwhile, while we're repairing ourselves and improving, we become much more of an attractive prospect to a more ambitious buyer. We won't have the debts, we won't have the admin fees, we won't have a loan against Pride Park that essentially blocks any sale for however long.
If Clowes doesn't have the funds to keep us beyond our restricted period, I doubt he'd have anywhere near as much trouble selling us. And comparatively, he would still own a stadium that he's bought for a pretty decent price, and could use his business expertise to make a profit on. He also would have saved the Club he's loved his whole life without denting his *reported* net worth much at all.
I think if Clowes wanted the Club for himself indefinitely, he would have entered the game a lot sooner. But he's in because Derby County dying is simply not an option, and if spending a portion of his wealth on us for a couple of years whilst we heal is the price it costs, then I think he's only doing what 95% of us would also do if we had his level of wealth.

No one seems to be mentioning Eiran Cashin.
I believe he is out of contract but, AFAIK, has not been linked to anyone.
And no one on here is putting him alongside those we should sign up as quickly as possible.
To me he would be the first one that should be given the club pen and asked to sign above the dotted line.
    EDIT: Then Thompson

I don't know whether this has been posted or not, but there was an interview this morning on Radio Derby with several of the people David Clowes worked with when he was a Captain flying 747's.
They said that he was the complete opposite to our previous owner.  Comments included was that he 'was one of the nicest men  ever met.'  'Nothing was too much trouble for him.' He still enjoys flying. 'He was an absolute gentleman' and 'a thoroughly good man.'  'No airs and graces'. 'Genuinely nice man.' 'Loved the cups of tea I made for him.' 'Brilliant pilot'.
One of his ex-colleagues said that having spent his early days on the terraces at the Baseball Ground, he'll find it hard if he can't watch the games from the terraces any more.
I thought it was nice to hear what those who have previously worked with him thought about him. Seems he was highly liked and regarded.
I hope that all of this augers well. I'm certainly encouraged by how fast we are moving to a conclusion and his dignified silence so far.
He doesn't seem to be an egotist or the kind of person to mess us about.

Ashley has spouted a lot via his media friends but never once put his money were his mouth is.

I do find restrictions to investment crazy after a club has gone into administration, it’s another backwards EFL rule.
On one hand you’re begging for someone to bail out a club from going out of existence then on the other you’re telling that saviour: ‘oh, but you have to work under all these new conditions’ due to sins of the previous owner.
There has to be a better way, especially when the actual bloke who caused this entire mess gets away almost no liability.
I know it’s an oversimplification, but an escrow account where new owners could put money in to cover investments makes sense. Equally, I’d love owners to be personally responsible for their actions. No reason to why football clubs are treated like any other limited company. Nothing is set in stone and there should be protections in place for fans of these huge community assets. Investment should be welcomed. When money is spent everyone benefits, but far more is focused on the buying club than the selling club. An active market actually benefits smaller clubs who can hold out for more money for their top players, but in a slower market, it only helps the rich get richer.
It’s another frustration I have with the EFL and their shortsightedness.

Derby County means so much to so many of us and you don't realise the affect of bad news after bad news has on you. You get on with it with a stiff upper lip and all that but reading the statement today certainly brought emotion out of me I hadn't fully comprehended was there until now. A sincere thank you to David Clowes and his Team. Better days ahead.

The EFL also saw fit to disregard the 3 High Court Judge verdicts they had sought to establish the creditor status of the parasite claims.
They enabled the solicitors of Gibson and Cowpig to muddy the waters, defer progress and sustain doubt of the claim validity.
It was in the EFL's power to crush actions of Club Vs. Club and also to accept Q's legal findings - but they wouldn't, so it all dragged on until bids / PB's were nixed and the assured relegation strategy was fulfilled.
If Q wanted to detail the ups and downs of liaison and point to the money and time wastage over the period, it would make a good handbook for the EFL of how to reduced a club to rubble.
Full of anger at the EFL; it will not subside but will be compartmentalised, once Clowes is in the driving seat and Rooney is permitted to recruit players.
    Watching and waiting!
