    Bigger picture.

Derby County F.C has been a very poorly run club for the last 20 years and fans have to accept that it WILL take time to get back to glory days, (albeit I am of the opinion that our great clubs glory days at best would be a club challenging at the top end of the Championship).

It actually saddens me when I hear fans being hyper critical of Warne, some almost suggesting his time is running out. I cannot accept that is anything other than a small percentage who think this.

Constructive criticism is great and wow, there is SO much to be critical about with the current side and the manner in which we (try to) play.

Warne has to be given time, and I am talking another 2 seasons. We are under new ownership and we need stable management. As a shrewd business decision, Clowes wouldn't (and couldn't financially) sack Warne unless results take a huge downturn. We are playing like a bottom 5 club, but we are somewhat fortuitously managing not to lose.

I cannot actually believe that I am speaking up for Warne, as the football being offered is simply dreadful. Lethargic, defensive, predictable. So, I forsee a season where we are challenging for a top 6 spot, but for that to happen, the football has to improve.

I will be right behind Warne and I firmly believe that if we as a fanbase were all right behind him, it would make his job easier. We can play a part in changing the fortunes of our club.

My thoughts are, he is here, it’s what we have got. Two seasons ago, I’d have taken anything to keep my club and because of that although I’m not all that pleased with the football on show at least we have got some football on show.
I just hope we can slowly build up into a good team again but accept patience is needed to come back from the brink.

    I didn't say I didn't enjoy the game.

I said I agreed with the all the points you listed that Eric Steele made tonight on Radio Derby. If he made any others I didn't hear them.

I've already posted on Saturday to say I enjoyed the game.

I enjoyed the goals, the way we defended, the way the fans got behind the team, the fact that once we got the subs on I thought there would only be one winner, the chat with other fans before and after the game, the solidarity the team showed in difficult circumstances as they must have been affected by their team mate suffering so.

That doesn't mean I don't expect the team to improve by Christmas.

(I also enjoyed walking on Hadrian's Wall, lots of pub meals, Carlisle cathedral, friendly locals, getting soaked - all part of why I enjoyed the weekend!)

Sounds like a good weekend unfortunately I can keep telling my missus she needs to work a few weekends extra while I trot off to Carlisle to watch Derby.

I like her style. Almost written like she’s shouting it. As for Ed Dawes, whenever I listen to the radio I have to turn the sound off. Nothing to do with Ed Dawes, it’s because we’re playing that bad I can’t bare to listen.

Hope he’s ok in fairness because he is only doing his job. If that is what’s getting him down, he shouldn’t let things get to him.

    Fox and Anchor, Farringdon?

Back in the late 1980's/early 1990's, I used to work at the Stock Exchange, and we used to have a 'team breakfast' there once every couple of months. The pub had a 'special' licence which allowed them to open at 7:00 am.

A huge plate of sausages, bacon, black pudding etc, washed down with a couple of pints of Fullers ESB - the perfect way to start the working week.

If I had a couple of pints with my breakfast while working in the stock exchange would be the perfect conditions for the next financial crisis.

Thought the lad did well today - neat and tidy, passed to white shirts, organised well and most importantly was disciplined in staying in the centre of the park - shame about his miserable voice, but you can’t have everything 😉

I’m sure when we were 1-0 up he was guilty of just hoofing the ball back to the opposition from our area when a calm head was required and playing the ball out to our players was required.
