Apparently the wages at Reading only got paid last month thanks to a £400k EFL payment for their CAT1 academy, which wasn't enough alone, the rest being made up with a loan from their shirt sponsor Select Car Leasing.

They are bang in trouble. Makes me livid that they were allowed to sign loads of players.

The first thing that comes to mind is respect for the rules and the people in control of the league. We were guilty of this trying to navigate the rules and got punished then the floodgates opened and it all went tits up.

You can never know what would have followed had one key decision been made differently, we may have missed the penalty and lost 5 nil. But we could have kicked on from the early goal and Bolton may have collapsed and we could have won 5 nil.

It would be interesting to see the assessor's view of the rugby tackle on Bradley, looking at the incident on tv, you can't discount that Bradley was being really clever and pulled the defender on top of him, although the defender was not even looking at the ball at any time, which should give the ref a clue.

It would help if they got 50% right but based upon this bloke it looks like he has a vendetta against us. No one can make that many wrong decisions against the same team.

It was unusual for the club to reveal details of the assessor's report for the Bolton game, I wonder if we've broken a rule here? It would be nice if we could see all assessor's reports, but would lead to less critical reports in the future?

The outcome was what we all suspected at the time, should have been a penalty for handball, shouldn't have disallowed a goal for our penalty, shouldn't have been a sending off and shouldn't have been a penalty against Smith. The only thing that I would say in his defence, is that his assistants didn't assist, the last 2 decisions should have been the assistant's call.

A pretty damming verdict against the ref, who's poor decisions ALL went against Derby. His integrity after this and the Plymouth game last season needs to be seriously questioned and he shouldn't officiate at another Derby game this season, out of fairness to himself and Derby. He will be under so much pressure in the next Derby game, it would be impossible for him to perform properly.

Based upon that we should have been at least 2-0 up with 11 men on the pitch.
If he officiated a Forest game like that his house wouldn’t be standing now.

I guess the issue is why bother with long term vision when managers are generally out of a job in 2 / 3 years!

Surely the aim is to leave the place in a better condition than when you arrived including the academy. OK Warne has a big chance of achieving this.

  5. From what I saw we (England) don’t seem to do the counter attack. We are supposed to be most dangerous in the opposition final third.
Why does it look to me like Harry Kane is at most playing defensive midfield??

Anyone running forward has to check back?

I haven’t much of a problem with the defence. Surely our attack is our strong point.

Bit bored of same discussions and its a while to the next match so to try and distract (or ignore as you wish and go back to the moaning) and remind us why we're all on here can we share some positives:

    - favourite Rams player(s) (dont have to have seen play) and why? Bobby Davison, saw me through some bad times.

    - stupidest journey to see Rams play? Coventry City late 90’s. I only went to the shop for some fags and ended up on a bus to Coventry. Sat in the home end sat behind a post.

    - funniest match moment?
The John Gregory bucket incident made me smile. Cheers to @ilkleyram for the reminder

    - favourite away ground visited and why? All or none they were all an adventure once upon a time.

    - proudest moment as Rams fan? When we got back to back promotions under Arthur Cox.

    Worst game and why?

QPR defeat in the play off. We had a good team to build on and from then on we slowly deteriorated.

Feel free to add Qs or totally ignore or try and start other topics please before we all go bonkers.

I saw a stat from Prem League analysis that said, for a given season, a team that received a red card lost on ~59% of occasions (irrespective of the score at the time of the red).

For me, refs need to have some sort of traffic light system for decisions......greenish ones for 50/50's in the centre circle where consequences are fairly inconsequential.......orangish ones for things like pens and free kicks on edge of box.........and reddish ones for red cards where the consequences are more significant in the match and possibly over the season.

They have to be CERTAIN on the reds.

My reading of the incident on Saturday was that neither the ref or the lino was sure and the added 2 x half sures together to make 1.......whereas the appropriate way of doing it is either taking an average (average of 2 half sures = half sure) or multiplying them together (= quarter sure).

......or bring in a sin bin for 'probably a red'

By my reckoning 2 x half sures = a quarter sure you’d have to add two half sures for a full sure, surely that’s the way it should be done I’m sure.

  8. Looking the same this season too.
If they over turned a straight red it could be only for two possible reasons:

    1. The ball was not going in

    2. It wasn’t deliberate handball by Wildsmith

Can anyone think of another possibility?

This ref gave Plymouth a dodgy penalty against us last year. Can we ask not to have him again?

  9. So the refs thought process must have been:-

    Play on Bolton might score.

Play on they are still in with a chance

Good grief that’s 3 chances wasted.

Do you think the keeper handled it outside the area?

He might have. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and send him off. No more triple saves from him.

I’ll let others comment on the analysis of tactics, performance etc, but FFS we HAVE to get out of this league. The standard of officiating is driving me absolutely bananas. Thought it was bad in the Champ but L1 is proper, and absolute amateur hour. Like when you’d go and watch your kids play junior football and the ref didn’t turn up so someone’s dad stepped in. Every. f******. Week.

Can only imagine the sh*t show that must be L2….

The refs are bad but they aren’t losing us the games.
