Totally agree. So the government should once and for all close the tax loopholes. I pay my tax without seeing it, straight out of my wages like I have for the last 46 years.
The first 12k is tax free then the rest is taxed, every penny I earn over that amount is taxed.
Do the same on all money earnt. Dividends, interest, bonuses,, no upper limit. All income over the threshold taxed without fear or favour.
If that happened the tax rate would be so low that everyone would be happy.
Except the very rich billionaires of course so it'll never happen as they happen to be the greedy barstewards who own and control the government.

Fck me, I wish we were as brave as the French who have taken to the streets to fight their government plans to extend pension age.
We'd thank our government for allowing us to work until we drop and fight each other about made up bollox.

That's handy. I'll close the windows and unplug appliances while the Mrs tells me I should have done that bunker when we had that nice weather

Its s*** mate. My daughter and son in law are farmers and they believe the government are trying to kill off small farmers in favour of large factory farming.

Last September I was playing football with my grandson, and hurt my knee. I didn’t bother the doctors because the knee gradually returned to near normal, but still quite painful at times. It was such a time I winced, and my wife “advised “ me to see the doctor, which I duly attended, knee examination, all OK, I asked for a PSA (having seen the information at Pride Park) check which he duly gave me the paperwork. The test came back 7.1, I’m over 70 so 6.5 is regarded as normal. I was dispatched to the Derby Royal, had the anal examination, ( for the first time) small lump found. In five weeks I’ve had a MRI scan,my prostrate biopsy done, and a QT scan, and I’m now on a hormone treatment plan. It appears they’ve caught the tumour early, and the prognosis is good, they say it will be eliminated. You do lose your dignity at times, but not going through that door and having the exam you could lose a lot more.
A shout out to the doctors and nurses at the Derby Royal, they have been absolutely terrific, informative, and very understanding, and caring.

I'm so cynicall nowadays that I've almost given up on politics, but I might as well chuck me two pennorth in.
Starmer is an obvious establishment plant, parachuted into the Labour Party to make sure nothing fundamentally will change whoever has the majority. He is descended from the Peerage like Johnson, Cameron etc, he's one of them, safe pair of hands for the ruling elite.
Corbyn was probably the only leader of either of our main parties, certainly since Wilson, that was not controlled by or actually a member of, what we call the elite/establishment.
I really don't think most of us realise how much our institutions are controlled by big money, from the security services, media, banking etc. Even the so called new money like the social media companies are ultimately owned or controlled by the old banking dynasties that have always pulled the strings and ultimately own the stock markets of the world.
Sir Keir Starmer is about as left wing as Jacob Rees Mogg, Boris Johnson or Nigel Farage.
    They're all bankers.

Pretty much agree with most of your post , we will have to agree to disagree on starmer though , this is the man that backed Corbin to the hilt and now throws him out , wants a people’s vote now is ok with brexit ( perhaps a good honest re position from him regards where we are but my gut says no) amongst many other issues , the man just has a stench of Blair to me ,
I will get slated but Corbin in my view has far more deep rooted principles than starmer and if forced to vote for him or starmer. I go Corbin ??‍♂️

if your already paying additional funds to the NHS from out of your earnings, because your happy do so….then you have my upmost humble apologies
if your not then why aren’t you doing so???…..do you need to be forced by governments to give more…I read to often people going on about being happy to fund certain services / causes more….so serious question without the barbs, why aren’t they? ?

Todays kids should be more confused as to why they will not be able to retire as early as their grandparents did.
"woke" and the faux rage about it is a huge diversion to stop people questioning wtf is going on in the world.

30 years ago, my father was due to take over as Captain of Derby Golf Club, but died just a few days before.
It fell upon me to greet Members and accept condolences - the tradition at Sinfin was that the flag outside the Pro Shop would fly at half-mast, and the name of the Member who had passed away would be displayed at the foot of the mast. I got there just before the first tee-off time.
After a couple of hours of this 'meet and greet', I was in bits, but my own tee-off time arrived. Those who remember Sinfin from the best part of 30 years ago will recognise the sensible play for the opening drive off the back tee - play a gentle fairway wood or a long iron off the tee and basically aim slightly left of the copse of saplings which separate the 1st and 18th fairways (or they did then), then you have a nice 5- or 6-iron into the green. Two putts, par 4, move on.
Muggins here decided to 'go for it' - what the hell. I was in no fit mental state to play anyway, so took a driver off the tee, aim straight over the copse... I must have tried it a dozen times in the past and always come a cropper - but this day, I absolutely nailed it. 300+ yards, tiny sand wedge to 3 feet. Nailed-on birdie - and I missed the putt. At that very instant, I heard my father's voice utter three words: "You daft bugger".

I have no knowledge of all this stuff but what I do know is that my 14 and 11 year old grand daughters love to play on a rope swing across a river with their friends and Granddad gets the blame when he takes them home wet and muddy.
Let kids be kids and get them out in the wild away from computers and phones.

I’ll talk about Scunthorpe at work to colleagues (Manchester) and dearly hope you can rise again. The imbalance in the game is criminal, football pyramid is the envy of the world. Can’t be allowed to die. Neither can Scunthorpe United. Keep the faith my friend. All true football fans stand with you

Seeing on social media that there are a few of you buying tickets to come and show your support for my local side, Scunthorpe United-who are getting ran into the ground by an incompetent owner- on Saturday. We are drinking in the last chance saloon with a winding up order and no money left in the pot to pay any wages.
Thank you chaps, it’s much appreciated by our supporters.
