Well that was a great finish to a game. Watching with the 8yo and it was the first time for him celebrating a last minute winner. Lots of noise and crazyness in our house.

Brighton and Villa games were decent last night. Nice to see different teams in Europe now rather than just the usual.

Man U game was good. Last half hour specially as both teams went for a winner.

Maybe they should release the recorded talks between them.
Football is probably the most subjective sport, The VAR operative has been removed for tonight's game as it looks like UEFA agree with most of the pundits, Players, Journalists and commentators.
Last season Michael Oliver went against protocol/VAR and stuck with his initial decision when he was invited to look on the screen...this is a rarity, The VAR operative last night saw a hand ball...and acted upon it, The pressure for the ref must have been huge, PSG at home, A baying crowd, 10s of millions of €s at stake, Blame the sh!tty system, UEFA have their scapegoat.
You and I could eat the same soup from the same bowl and come to a different conclusion about the taste and quality, Football is the same, Referees/VAR assistants are becoming technocrats and are scared sh!tless to make a game changing call...football has got itself into such a mess that there is no escape.

The problem with the system is that once VAR has referred the ref to the monitor, they are saying, in effect, 'we think you have made a mistake - you should reassess it.' So the onfield ref feels under pressure to change the decision. There are several (I don't know the exact number) of people looking at the incident in the little booth - against 1 ref on the pitch. It's the tyranny of the majority.

Oof! 😲
Another big name, and another personality that I can directly relate to, and have direct memories of, and recall incidents of.
There used to be a time when all the top names dying off were just that... names. Folk I'd heard of, or read about. Maybe caught a glimpse of them in an old movie, or saw them on a WC TV panel every 4 years.
Now they all seem to be folk that have actually taken part in my life, however distant. Real people. Minute parts of my own real life memories, however brief, however minute.
FFS... If this is what getting old is about... etc, etc...
RIP, Mr Venables.
And thanks for that wonderfully unforgettable 4-1 win over Holland. 'Twas a sheer delight, sir.

Bob forgot his anniversary.
Bob's wife wasn't very happy.
After much waiving of arms and shouting she went to bed demanding something that goes from 0-200 in under 5 seconds on the drive outside the house in the morning when she gets up.
The next morning Bob gets up early and leaves for work.
Bob's wife gets up a while later opens the curtains and sees a box on the drive. She gets dressed, goes downstairs and brings the package into the house. Inside she finds a set of scales.
Bob hasn't been seen since last Friday...

Been on holiday, and coming gack through the airport my Mrs fainted and collapsed on the luggage carousel. Fortunately she came round again quite quickly.

I always remember ‘I just whack ‘em’ Biley getting a lot of stick at Derby but he looked tidy in that Luton game.
