I was sad to hear this, @Yani P. Mel was talking about income from televised matches. For Championship sides to only be getting 1/20th of the money given to the lowest prem teams per match is disproportional and really sucks.

You are correct he did not rant at all. Most people have mentioned he sounded a little detached if anything. He hardly mentioned EFL other than as specific examples mentioned in a business like way. Wouldnt be surprised if he does take legal action personally somehow when this is all over hence reticence. Or he doesnt want them to take it out on the club for his rants

To be fair, @Derbados, I didn't hear him 'rant' anywhere at all in the interview. I'm not trying to defend him at all, but just commenting on what I heard. He said that whilst he is the owner he thinks the club will be unfairly treated by the EFL. He said that he didn't want to get into a discussion about the EFL and he didn't, though he mentioned them a couple of times when relevant. When he spoke about them he was not disrespectful.

My personal view for what it's worth is he sounded deflated towards the end of the interview. A beaten man.
Despite a lack of raw emotion shown on air, I genuinely think Friday would have hurt him massively as this wouldn't have been anywhere in his plans.
I understand this will not be any comfort to any of the staff that will lose their jobs, or creditors unpaid who my thoughts are with right now as they face an extremely tough week ahead.
Tomorrow I will be opening a jobs board on the forum, if any of you have a business or hear of vacancies in the local area please post them.
Also if you know anyone that has/will be lose their job through this process, give them a heads up.
Saturday showed what an incredible fan base we have when we come together, let's help try and make the impact as minimal as possible. ?

I dont think we have lost the stadium yet. You dont know what he will do with it. I may be naive but i think he genuinely sounded as if he would work with the administrators on that. Perhaps he sees it as his chance to make amends for where we are. I am disgusted at where we are at but lets see.

I don’t think for one minute MM had any intention of the club being in this position hence outside of gootball i wish him well but the gamble didn’t play out  well and COVID ( no one could have foreseen) just accelerated this situation.
i just think the interview was far too late after the horse bolted on Friday night
As fans we all just need to stick together regardless of which side of the fence you sit - this city needs this club and i feel for the staff who will be impacted

I think Mel admitted he had played his hand very badly so that potential buyers knew they would get a better deal by playing a waiting game..

He didnt but I think in the position we are in his actions will speak louder than words. If he doesnt get anything back and throws the stadium back to get a credible buyer then great. Who knows he may gift it to a charitable trust or something which would hopefully secure us in the future? I wont judge on the stadium until (if) we know

He said that he had put £200 million in and didn't expect to be getting anything back.
You sound as though you want blood though. Do you want him to have lost money? Would that somehow appease you?
This isn't necessarily assumed at you but a lot of folks who criticised Mel for chasing the dream, and overspending, would equally complain about owners who didn't financially back their manager's transfer demands.
Who'd be a football club owner? I cannot see how they can win.
    (Cue debate on egos)

    You read it like that.
I read it differently. That he may indeed "gift the stadium (or sell cheaply)" to the new owners.

I think he did well there.
As much as we can hope for an owner who has billions, it’s not realistic. They all want us at the cheapest price and know that administration is the best way to do that. They’ve forced Mel’s hand and he knows that long term this is the best for the club. Also Mel knows the EFL will never give us a fair run without him gone.
He’s never set out to ruin the club and I’m fairly certain if any of us had the money he had we would have tried to do the same.
The amortisation part was a risk, but the EFL didn’t say a word for years and we were conforming to the financial standards. How someone that is not an accountant gets the final say over an accountant I’ll never know.
As much as everyone can say covid can’t be used as an excuse, it’s had a massive contribution towards it. Our turnover was one of the largest in the championship, probably the biggest of clubs that don’t get parachute payments. We’ve been hit harder than any other club and the timing of Covid came at the end of our big spending.
Interesting what he said about only 2 teams that have been promoted since P&S was brought in have not broken the rules. Shows how broken the system is.
We beat Villa at Wembley and none of this ever happens.

I think a lot commenting on here have already made their mind up.
I'm not happy myself, however, I'd ask people to at least keep an open mind.
It's not implausible to think that potential buyers are waiting for administration because their costs would be so much less.
I agree staff and supporters will suffer but this may actually be the only way to get the new owners that everyone craves.

Michael O'Neil has always seemed a reasonable chap, so not entirely surprised he said some kind things.
It's a nice surprise to see how far Stoke have moved on from the days of Ryan shawcross et al.... ?

Brian Clough quote " Derby is a football town" This should be a good selling point for our new buyers.

Jamie Thras doing his poem before kick off was inspirational. Theres some pride and passion in Derby and Rooney and the players are feeling it.

There was quite a few Stokies in town before the game. Mostly well behaved from what I saw, one or two younger ones trying to start a fight in an empty room. Rams fans weren't interested and ignored the provocation.
As for the game, I found it surprisingly emotional. The crowd were 100% behind the team, the team responded with passion and competence. It's been a few years since I've witnessed that bond, and I'm not ashamed to say it choked me. Give us an even break and we can do it.
I don't want to pick anyone out for special praise, because to me they were all magnificent, but imo Max Bird came of age today, in every sense of the word. If he continues to progress, he's going to be some player. UTR.

I thought Ravel was great today. Obviously should have scored his chance, but pulled the strings amazingly well.
One of Max Bird's best games for us too. Seems to have really come into his own again recently.
Throughout all of the recent debacle, I can honestly say I thoroughly enjoyed that performance today. Players and Rooney are giving their best for us, and that's all we can ask.

Wow. What a day. It was special. A day I will never forget. 17,000 Derby fans but it may as well have been 30,000 such was the noise and every fan 100% behind the team and the coaching staff.
Then the game. What a performance. Some superb counter attacking and glimpses of real quality. Ravel at times today (especially in the first half) was equal to Stefano Eranio   with those passes in the box, magical. Stunning goal from Max Bird who was also outstanding in the first half (what a player he is). Baldock should’ve scored, Ravel should’ve scored, we should’ve been 3-0 up and out of sight but then the Ince goal made it nervy. That said never had any doubts we would close it out. To a man the players were superb today and showed they care. Likewise Rooney and Rosenior.

I was in tears at full time, so proud of all of them and for the fans unbelievable support of them. It felt like we’re in this together. duck the rest of the football world, duck Mel Morris, no bitching about 3 wins in 20 odd and Rooney isn’t the right man. Everyone backing the team backing the coaches backing the club, backing each other - as one. It was truly special.
Its to be a part of days like today is why I’m a football fan and why I love this club so dearly. It will be a bumpy road but if we stick together we will come back stronger!!
    COYR!! ?????????

I haven't watched the game yet but there is something poetic in the goalscorers today. An academy lad and an old pro sticking by us when he didn't have to vs a player from an era that led to the current mess.

Devastated this morning , very very proud now , the boys fought like lions , well done to Wayne and his staff , the way they are motivating the team to run through brick walls for the fans is absolutely brilliant , one last thing , Curtis Davies , what a player , what a man , love the guy , you could see what it meant to him at full time , immense performance
