StockholmRam reacted to JPRamFan in Dwight Gayle - Signed until the end of the season
If he's half as good as he was for Newcastle when they were in the championship 7 or 8 seasons ago, he'll be a great signing.

StockholmRam reacted to Srg in Eiran Cashin - new contract to 2027
No downside to this. Either he stays and that's great, or we can command a proper fee for him.
Fair f**** for Cashin to committing to it. Stick the armband on him.

Brearley was going to give him a rest as he said this in later years, Bob gave him a stare so Brearley kept him on 👍

StockholmRam reacted to TigerTedd in Who's using AI?
I use it. I use it to help me write formulas in excel and vba. Although I find it incredibly frustrating when we go round and round in circles, only to find that its information is out of date. Ie it tells me to click on this option, but the option doesn’t exist.
also, we’ll go round and round only to find what I’m asking is impossible. It seems to wager to please. I wish it would just say ‘what you are asking is not possible.’ Nice and easy, I’m a big boy, I can take it.
I’ll be using it to write policies and contracts next. Could save me a fortune on a legal team and a load of time. And I’ve used it to write lesson plans.
my dreams are that ai can do a load of jobs for us, allowing us to genuinely think about a 3 or 4 day working week as the norm. People are afraid about unemployment, and I think there will have to be a major culture change. Imagine if robots did everything. That’s the dream right, and we can all follow our own dreams. Write a book etc. But will the world work if no one has a job? Who pays for the all the robots? And would the rich and powerful let it happen?

That 1993 Benson and Hedges Final at Lord's was a bit special.
One of my top three Cricket matches along with seeing England win a Test at the SCG (2003) and seeing England draw at Cardiff in 2009.

Watching Underwood do that in 68 must have been amazing.
Stokes 135 is my favourite batting display.
Frankie taking the last over for Derbys to win still has my pulse racing.
This win for England is right up there with the best of the best.

Just finished watching it (the beauty of a TIVO box).
One of the greatest England wins I've ever seen - up there with Edgbaston 2005. Perhaps not quite the drama of The Oval 1968 (Underwood snagging Inverarity with just 3 balls to go, after most of the last day had been washed out) or Headingley 2019 (Stokes 135*, Leach the best 1* I've ever seen) - but a tremendous win against all the odds.

What superb captaincy from Stokes to keep faith with Hartley in the first innings when everyone thought he was daft.
Hartley looked nervous early on both when batting and bowling but once he settles he looks a prospect.
Pope was magnificent and shout out to Leach, bowling through the pain.

Surely one of the greatest test wins of all time?

India with 3 wickets remaining, needing 100 to win. Pure sporting theatre this and the reason test cricket so often provides levels of jeopardy and drama matched by few, if any other sports. What a belting test match, irrespective of the outcome. If this is a sign of things to come, watching these two sides battle it out over the coming weeks is going to be a real treat.

Stokes with one of the most insanely sharp pieces of fielding I've seen. 6 down and India on the ropes, surely Ashwin is there last hope. Something slightly surreal about watching two England spinners befuddling an Indian team in their own back yard.

Honestly, I'd written us off on the first day. Such a shame Pope fell short of his double, but what and innings in the context of the game, Vital runs from Foakes, Ahmed and Hartley too and with 3 down, we very much have a game on our hands. If we could somehow nick this first test, it'd be an absolutely huge result, with all the pressure then piled on India to respond.

Quite wonderful by Pope. Especially on this ground. If we can grind out 50-60 more runs then its going to be a very interesting last innings for India.
Game on and test match cricket is back.

You’d think it would be in Wednesday’s best interest to help us get promoted so they don’t have to play us in League One next season tbh

Good post. It’s fair to criticise last nights performance, cause it was pants and it’s an opportunity missed to go top, albeit briefly. And there’s some fair observation and discussion about how our midfield is or isn’t functioning.
What I don’t get are the sweeping statements driven by personal opinion but presented as fact that we won’t make top 2, or we possibly aren’t good enough for the play offs, or the players are naughty tracksuit wearing yoofs. A bad performance last night, with a few questionable ones in recent weeks, potentially down to fatigue and missing players, who will return and bolster the squad before the season is out. We’ve made a new signing that should give us reason for optimism as he is an additional attacking outlet, should allow rotation and rest etc.
So yes last night was bad, yes a few performances lately have been dodgy, but there are still plenty of points to play for with players to return from injury, international duty, and potentially further new signings. It’s the complete lack of optimism that comes spewing forth from some quarters that gets me down. And yes of course I know people are entitled to their opinion, but if they can’t see any hope for the club and this season then what’s the point? Shall we just call it now? Chin up folks, we go again on Saturday.

Perfect is stretching it. I think they just expect us to have 1 shot on target in a league 1 match and not put in such abject performances when the players we have are better than the players most in the division have…

StockholmRam reacted to angieram in Corey Blackett-Taylor - Signed on Loan/Permanent in Summer
Welcome to Corey Blackett-Taylor.
I'm looking for a thread about whether he's a good signing in relation to his playing ability. Can anyone point me in the right direction, please?
